His distaste for Dhani as a bahu is very easy to understand.

We do live in a society where girls getting a second chance in marriage is not so easily acceptable. Some people do consider them hand me downs ( Please forgive me if I sound rude ) Its only progressive people who accept them .

DT is supposedly crme of Benaras society and accepting a girl of family with no education or connections for his illustrious son is not acceptable. Further he does not understand LOVE . Either for his wife, his son and his family and what he calls love for Viplav is a prized possession who makes him proud. So him understanding what Viplav finds in Dhani is very difficult.

Even now when he is married he thinks that Viplav will soon get tired of her and throw her out. That is why is happy at the fake fighting. He thinks Viplav and he are fo the same blood and when the attraction for the women will go Viplav will come back to his senses.

And now once he hates Dhani he will never accept her . As KAnak said even if Dhani dies for me I will not accept her. I don't see any chance of that happening either.

Hate never finds an end.

Why only DT there are many orthodox people like him in society who will never tolerate the fact that their heir and upholder of the family name will marry a widow,

Especially in a traditional place like Benaras where people are so rooted in custom that they consider a widow to be inauspicious , A mahapandit's grandson marrying a poor widow would be considered scandalous! and Dt would lose his fame and position in society if he allows such an occurrence to take place.
Actually this was the basic premise of the show-the grandson of a mahapandit breaking all barriers of societal norms for love but the show lost its flavour and missed showing the unleashing of social displeasure at the idea of widow remarriage,

"the show lost its flavour and missed showing the unleashing of social displeasure at the idea of widow remarriage,"..

absolutely right mag
