So kunj and Twinkle are Sikh.
In Sikh community according to my knowledge there are two sub categories.
1 jo pajdi pehnte hai, they don't cut their hair nor do they shave and they carry a katar(knife)
2 the people are known as cut sikh they don't wear padgi AMD they shave and all. But they do wear a kadda

Ganpati is according to my knowledge the bappa of all communities and religions except I think jain, Christian and Muslims! And ganpati is know as vignaharta(saare vighna bad things ko dur karne wala)and every puja starts only after ganpati Puja.

This all is according to my knowledge. I'm sorry if I am wrong or if I hurt anybodies feelings.
Hope this is helpful

There is sub caste of Sikhs called "Mona Punjabi's" who don't follow dat long hair wale rituals.. But they are Punjabi's only..

Regarding Karva Chauth.. Its actually Punjabi festival only now a days everyone follows.. But it started from Punjabi's only just like lohri..

And regarding ganpati temple yeah its bit surprising and awkward to see but let's not bais god na..

Ganpati bappa is prayed by each and everyone apart from religion and caste..

He is the God of wealth and good luck..

They r punjabi but Only sikh wear pagdi. Punjabi can be Hindu or sikh.
And karva chaut is mainly the festival of Punjabi's either sikh or Hindu which is spread across the North India in different form and now celebrated by everyone.
