Hi
I'm new to this forum and Tamanna is the only show I have ever followed religiously given the brilliant quality of television in India ;)

I like that you raised this point about Mihir's flaws being exaggerated. In fact, a very smart point the makers have made is by not including violence in his behavior, which is often clearly unacceptable to us. Instead, they have focused on finer issues which seem like "natural instincts" but actually are not. The way our society has structured women has made our base expectation level so low that we don't even recognize these as issues. I have personally seen cases where extremely brilliant women have been reduced to dependent, bitter housewives by their sweet talking, caring and loving husbands.

Coming to your point, the things which you have pointed out have been probably experienced by most of us who have been in relationships. Being a little over demanding, trying to get some extra attention - we all do such stuff. But if you think about the intent behind these actions in this context, they will not seem so innocent. Your life partner is expected to be your support, the one with whom with you share your life. If this person hinders your growth as an individual, it is NOT correct to stay with them. We accept when men take women's emotions for granted because we have all been fed a stereotype that its not a big thing. HOWEVER, not being considerate of your partner reveals how self centered a person is. As Dhara says right in the beginning, a pampered slave is a slave nevertheless.

Thus, the small issues which were shown in the very beginning of their marriage were not problems by themselves - they are symptoms of a larger issue which needs to be tackled. Not giving your partner enough space to talk to her parents displays your lack of respect for her. Not letting her socialize displays your own insecurity. I am not even going to talk about the other things he did because those were clearly wrong. And mind you, Mihir is mostly a controlled man - its not impossible to live with a human like him if you learn to ignore the occasional outbursts. But the point here is - why should anyone?
