We spoke to the director of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kabir Khan about Salman Khan's reaction to the win and he told us EXCLUSIVELY, "Salman, as you know, does not take awards very seriously. Usually when we win an award and I send him a message, then he just sends me back a smiley. But this time around it is the National Award and he also realises that this is more different and relevant. He sent me a long message of congratulations. He said Mubarak. I congratulated him too coz he is the producer and the award goes to him too."

Talking about the win, Kabir Khan even mentioned, "The National Award is one of the relevant awards today, most of our other award shows have now become TV shows, so there is certainly a relevance that the National Awards carry and I feel really happy about it. Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a film that has got more than its share of love from people, it has got great box office success and now on top of that we get the National Award, which is a true recognition, so I guess I can't feel happier than this."

Kabir Khan says that after winning Best Popular Film award, National Award for Bajrangi Bhaijaan is like an icing on the cake

Salman and Kabir Khan's blockbuster film Bajrangi Bhaijaan has received accolades from all quarters. After winning various prestigious awards for the same, the recent National Award for the film is like an icing on the cake, feels director Kabir Khan.

Kabir Khan, who received his first National Award for his first film Kabul Express, is happy winning it once again for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Speaking about it, Kabir said, "I don't expect any awards. I feel award is something that we should not take too seriously. But National Award is a prestigious award. I got my first National Award for my film Kabul Express and after that I am getting it for Bajrangi Bhaijaan so I am happy. This is the film which has already received many awards. It's one the highest grossing film and has also received lot of love. So getting a National Award is like icing on the cake."

He further added, "The whole team including Salman Khan is happy. We will celebrate it in our own way. Salman congratulated me in the morning itself."

Elated by the success of the film Amar Butala, Co-Producer/COO Salman Khan Films said, "Salman Khan Films is delighted to win the national award and get this recognition from the Government of India for our film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. This is our first film under the banner, and it's a huge encouragement for us and for the vision that we have for SKF."

I'm so frikkin happy for the whole team!! BB was the film of the year for me by a mile!! absolutely teriffic! I just realised this is the second film salman has produced that has won NA, chiller party I recall won best child film too. Such a proud stan!

Just to clarify is there an additional ceremony where the awards are handed to winners or has that already happened? Tnx!

Dabangg got NA too . So It makes it three Salman films among which 2 films he himself produced . So Proud of him 👏

Winners just got announced . Special ceremony takes place where President himself gives all awards to Winners . I really hope Salman & Kabir both goes to receive the Award together 😃.And I think they will go as Salman previously also said that he respects NA as it is been given by President himself which is very prestigious thing .

Salman respects national awards so this must have made him happy! Wish he had gotten the best actor award. He deserves it👏

I waa like W*F that BB did not win any of the film commercial awards, thankfully common sense prevailed and NA rightfully honoured it.
