Shital Thakkar enters Kareena

As the heavily pregnant Poornima in Ye Meri Life Hai, Shital Thakkar had to make a departure from the Sony show in July even before the labour pains began.

Away on a holiday to Europe, she found herself replaced by actress Smita Bansal. "They had shot the god-bharaai sequences with me, but finally, another Poornima gave birth," laughs Thakkar.

Two-month break

After a two-month break, Thakkar is back on the scene; she now features as Tarana in the Zee show Kareena Kareena. "I play the spoilt, pampered daughter of Tushar's (Sandeep Rajoria) boss. It's extremely distinct from what I was as Poornima in Ye Meri Life Hai. Tarana is a modern young woman, who calls the shots in her father's office," she says.

Thakkar, who made an entry in Kareena Kareena last night, says that after her exit from Ye Meri Life Hai, she prolonged her holiday. "I had taken permission from the producers (Optimystix) for a long-pending break. Initially, I was supposed to take off in June, but because of the daily shoot schedules, I delayed it till July."

However, while away, her track as the main protagonist Pooja's (Shama Sikander) sister had to be bought back into focus. This was due to Ashmit's (Raahil Azam) unavailability due to a skin problem.

Producer told her

"The producers could not wait for my return from Europe. Initially they could not get in touch with me. And there was no way I could fly back immediately. Later, producer Vipul D Shah called and explained the situation to me," says the actress.

Drama ahead

Instead of cribbing, Thakkar did the next best thing — extended her holiday by a month. "Anyway I was out of the show, so I had plenty of time on hand. I travelled with my family and caught up with friends in France, Belgium and Italy."

A rejuvenated Thakkar now returns to the grind of the daily shifts. "Kareena Kareena's track is slated to have Tushar getting attracted to Tarana. But then I am his boss's daughter, so there's more drama prior to that," she signs off.
