Chapter 2

How We Connected

Adarsh's POV

"No, I'm not." Aww, she's so cute. And, she's blushing. I would have to thank Shalini later for introducing me to her. Swadheenta is so different from any of the girls I've ever met. She's sweet. And cute. And smart. And a lawyer. I admire a woman who wants to be independant.

"Yes, you are." I laugh. Duh, she is such a fan girl. First she was drooling over Ian Somerhalder and Robert Pattinson. How do I know who Damon and Edward are? Uhhh.. my sister watches that show.

Okay fine! I may have watched an episode or two of TVD!

Ugh! All right! All of the Twilight movies AND all of TVD till Season 6. Happy?

"So..." Right. Swadheenta. Dance. Conversation.

Say something.

"So..." Yeah. Real dumb, Sinha. "How's your lawyer thing going?" Nice save.

"I was just working on a case that was against a rich person. Uh, what was the name." She looks confused. "Anyway, I won."

"You won?"

"Mhm." She grins.

"Congratulations." I smile.

"Thank you." She giggles, "I've got to do internship with a really, really good lawyer. And she's so special. Like so so special."

"Really?" I twirl her and she slams back into my chest. I wrap my hands around her slim waist as we continue swaying to the soft music. "What's her name?"

"Su-"

"There you are, Freedom!" A man approaches her. Who's that? And Freedom? Oh..

Right. Freedom. Swadheenta. English.

Yeah, you're sooo dumb Sinha.

"Asad?" Who's Asad? That guy in front of her, you dumbo.

Right.

"Let's go." Go? Go where?

"Oh wait." She takes his hand. For a moment there, I feel a sudden pang of jealousy. She just met you. You don't expect her to forget all about her life and start a new one, do you? "Asad, this is Adarsh Sinha."

"Nice to meet you." I forward my hand.

"You too." He shakes it. Real classy.

"And Adarsh, this my brother, Asad." Brotheerrr? You could've told me that before! What if I had killed him?

"Asad." I acknowledge. Living with the Suhasini Sinha, I had to learn some manners. We always used to go out to parties and Mom would introduce me to these really, really rich people's daughters. Whom, one might say, I wasn't interested at all in. I wanted someone real. Someone whom I could connect to.

Swadheenta was real. Connection? We had only met.

That would come too.

"With that aside, let's go Swadheenta."

"Where?" Why would they tell you?

"Uh.." She grins at me, "The sangeet competition."

"Competition?" No one told me of that.

"Yeah. I'll see you later." She runs off with Asad.

"Laters." I wave my hand at her.

Swadheenta - 1, Adarsh - 0.

And somehow, I didn't mind losing.

That was a first.

Little did I know, There were many firsts to come.

Swadheenta's POV

The sangeet competition went very well. Of course, the ladies won. And the dumb losers lost.

Look at that! Losers lost. How ironic!

"Freedom, you did really well." Only Shalini and Asad got to call me Freedom. They were so sweet to me throughout my life. And they helped me go further.

So yeah, ONLY Shalini and Asad.

"Thank you." I say to her. Shalini smiles and then it saddens. "What's wrong?"

"Armaan is not here." Armaan would be Shalini's fiancee.

"Shalini, the groom is not allowed to see the bride before the wedding. Don't you know that?"

"But.."

"No ifs and buts, come on. Time for the cake." Hash tag no one can love cakes more than me. Always, like ALWAYS, Maami has told me that girls should watch what they eat.

The hell!

Why shouldn't boys? Now in food also there is discrimination?

"Swadheenta." I sit by the pool while the party goes on inside Shalini's house. We moved the party from the tent to the house because it was about to rain. And here, I sit with my feet sunk deep into the cool water, waiting for the rain to come. I was thinking about everything. How well Shalini's sangeet went.

Someday it would be my sangeet too. And I would also be people's center of attention. Don't get me wrong, I hate attention. The reason why I have stage freight.

Don't ask how many things I am scared of.

"Swadheenta?" The voice calls again. Shit, I ignored it. That must've seemed really rude. I turn around to see him standing there. He looks concerned.

"Hi, Adarsh." I scooch over to give him some space. He sits beside me and smiles.

"Hi." He slurrs.

Wait.

"Are..Are you drunk?"

"Your brother? Dasa.." He pronounced my brother's name backwards. He's so drunk. "He made me drink it."

"It? What's 'it'?" I'm gonna kill Dasa. I mean Dasa. Shit, I mean Dasa. No, I meant ASAD! Yes! I meant Dasa.

Dayum. [A/N : Sort of what happens during auto-correct]

"Beeerrr." He slurrs again. He's really, really drunk.

"Adarsh, come on. We have to get you inside."

"No!" I jump back as he suddenly protests, "I'm not going anywhere. First, I want to know something about you."

"Adarsh.." He keeps a finger on my lips. I feel tingles flow through me.

"Shush." He silences me, "Not a word."

"How am I going to tell you about myself if you keep a finger on my lips?" I snatch away his hand and say.

"Right." He lightly smacks his head, "Dumb me."

"Adarsh, please."

"So where was I?" He wonders off, "YES! I wanted to know something about you."

"What?" I give up and sit back.

"Do you..." He laughs.

"Do I what?"

"No. I can't say it." Is he blushing, for god's sakes!?

"Say it, Adarsh. You just said Dasa instead of Asad. It can't be that bad."

"I wanted to say..."

"Yes?" Do I even have time for this?

"Do you.." He grins.

"Do I..." I want him to continue. What does he have to say?

"Do you.." He smiles, "love me?"

And then he falls asleep. But not before saying, "Because I do."

Shit.

He loves me.

Do I love him?

I only just met him. How come he LOVES me? Maybe he just likes me and thinks it's love. But they do say something about love at first sight. But you don't figure it out right away, do you?

I'll need time.

I look down at Adarsh whose head now lies on my lap. I gently comb my fingers through his soft, jet black hair.

Hopefully he gives me time.

Because I really want this to work between us. 😳

I updated so fast that even I'm spellbound! 😆

Please tell me what you thought of it. The next update might be a little late though. Because I have a lot of assignments to complete and then exams coming up.

But I will try to update it soon. 😃

This is a compensatory chapter basically. 🤣

This was such a sweet start... It made me smile reading Damon, Edward & Fawad's names 😆 Swadheenta blushing secretly was really cute. Adarsh as a calmed soul? That was nice 😛 Eagerly waiting for the story to be continued...
