None of the three guys got perfect debuts. One debuted with an unconventional film with a budding production house with hardly any marketing or social media noise. Second shared lead role with two other heroes in a small budget movie with hardly any chance of playing to his strengths, far cry from the romantic roles or dance performances he was adored for. Third played a sperm donor in an unconventional film with a first time production house, which could have made him laughing stock of industry.

Kudos to their script sense, talent and risk taking abilities, that they managed to turn the tide in their favour and make the most of their unconventional debuts! All of them did well in their first film, much better than some industry kids launched with so much pomp and show!

I think considering all the parameters (role, scope offered by role, impact of role, visibility attained, commercial parameters, future prospects thanks to the role) Ayushman had the most impressive debut. He got a chance to show his talent as a romantic hero, comic hero and a singing sensation, all in one, in a film which did great commercially and critically, winning national awards as well. It was clearly the sleeper hit of the year, and Ayushman took away two Filmfare trophies that year! Pity he could not capitalise on his success as much as I had thought he would.
