In life many of the decisions that we take, may not wholly be of our own choice,they can be influenced by people who matter to us.Some support in our decision making is the direct result of well meaning. However, other decisions we undertake maybe the result of times when we are compelled, by someone else s coercion which gives them a way to achieve not what we want but what they prefer.. this demand on us is far from meaning well. Looking at today's episode. We see.. when dealing with a controversial issue many questions raise their ugly heads some for, and some against the issue. The fact that it's not straightforward baffles us and thus either the brave enlightened ones support it, or the ignorant ones vociferously stand against it as it may pose a threat to their mindset . The issue may bring about upheaval in an already established comfortable order.The episode deals with the issue of the pariah widow Dhani , who is guilty of creating major chaos in two powerful households the Awasthi's and the tirpathi's. Dhani is involved with the son of both these families. One is munna Awasthi her ex husband whom she is believed to have murdered. The other is Viplav tirpathi her lawyer and present clandestine husband. Today is D day , Dhani's murder charge hearing..all will be known whether its yea or nay for acquittal or life imprisonment. Will Dhani with stand the strain of cross examination? and uphold the truth? or will she be influenced by family pressures and emotional coercion and do the unexpected. Seen support of some, but unseen betrayal of another.
Dashrant prompts courtroom drama right here in Viplav's room , before the boy even gets to the court. The idea is to exert familial demands on Viplav the lawyer. Dashrant the elderly patriarch of the family, manipulates Viplav by forcing him to go off his professional task of fighting for justice to prevail, over a woman wrongly convicted of murder. Dashrant throws in issues of family loyalties and blood ties to waver Viplav's stance of defending Dhani in court. He puts strain on Viplav against Dhani directly, by pointing out that Dhani not only murdered her husband alone, but that she ruined their Shalu's future too! Dashrant gives his verdict, he warns Viplav he will not allow him to fight Dhani's case! and storms out of the room. Viplav s instant reaction is to rip the news paper and then he kicks it away like a piece of scum. Anti Dhanisim within his near and dear ones is not unknown to Viplav; its in one ear and out the other for Viplav. all the family's militancy makes him more resilient by the second .He will do what he has to do. Defend his wife; fight for both his and his wife's honour.
At the prison Dhani is being loaded on too. Her innocence and upright nature is being ravaged by none other than the dadi ,who implanted the best of qualities in Viplav! What time has come that the matriarch who features as a female figure of steadfast continuity and stable traditional values now.. she argues with Dhani in the prison. There is chaos now, it's because Viplav wants to support her not his family. Worse still dadi condescends , she always support her, and believes she is a great girl. Somewhere, she believes she didn't do it. But sadly for Dhani , dadi also compels Dhani to hear out , there is a reason for all that's happening.. its because she is in Viplav's life! They are not meant to be .. Due to them being together her families lives are at risk! so please go from Viplav's life. For by doing so all will be well. Dhani is bluntly told by the woman whom Viplav thinks the world of.. that her love cannot convert into relationship, if this was to happen a great storm will rage! Dadi begs, she should let them live !save their family from being destroyed. its in her hands . dadi blackmails Dhani , she asks for nothing except that she leaves that's best for all.. Thus cries dadi and leaves. Dadi's strong words, about Dhani causing the tirpathi's duress is not easy for Dhani to ward off.. the time has come to reconsider her truth. the truth that she is meant to speak out in the court. She has to consider, which family will benefit from the truth?and which family punished? which family does she hold close to her heart? Dhani decides she knows what she will do in the court today? Did she consult her deities on this on?
Rearing to go! all set ,outside the court! Viplav waits for Dhani , paces along with Dhani's family. Police van arrives. Dhani steps out Dulari runs and hug her. Tells her, she stands by her so does Viplav they'll save her! Viplav too adds, her mum is right she shouldn't fear! they'll cross examine her, ask her embarrassing questions but she stand strong! stay calm stand by her truth! Dhani are you listening? Viplav checks with her as he primes before going into court room, she seems elsewhere to Dhani, their words were bouncing off why do her eyes look glazed! Police chivvy has to take her in. Viplav as in tough time supports and holds Dulari ..
The courtroom... Dhani lead in Awasthi's glare at her. The atmosphere becomes volatile! Sulochana commets to mami but loud enough for Dulari sitting next to hear ,the day has arrived when this sinner murderess will get her punishment! so before the verdict they shoot their mouth off bullying the poor widows, accusations are thrown at Dhani! She killed my munna and ran off and thought she will run and hide. Today she stands in the witness box ready to rot in jail! dulari snaps! my daughter did not commit murder, got it! empty vessels bang and make noise! they contain nothing in it! Raj laxmi pulls her back. Dashrant arrives.. . Proceedings begin, prosecution lawyer starts off! its a simple case still he wants to ask Dhani before he presents his evidence and witnesses . he is granted permission.. he begins, will ask you two questions , firstly, did your husband drink ? secondly , Did he beat you when he was drunk? Dhani stands mute. He repeats his questions, but Dhani mute.. recalls dadi's words of begging her to leave Viplav.. Viplav, anxious by her silence, tells her to reply . Prosecution says , stop putting pressure on her. Dhani stands mute, is asked again did he drink? and then hit you? Dhani mute thinks about dadi .. Viplav sits worried. Lawyer says, stop wasting courts time. Viplav stands up and calls out to Dhani why are you quiet?? he's told to be quiet and to sit down by the judge. Dhani recalls dadi's words your love cannot change into a relationship. Lawyer says ,have you killed your husband or not? Dhani says yes! Viplav stands up. Shocked. Yes she has certainly killed her husband Viplav at this point in time! After all his preparation, after all the battles he took up for her, she annihilates him! baffles him with her answer ,her confession!! All are shocked!! Lawyer says that's all my lord!..basically the convicted had confessed nothing more to it.. but Viplav does not think so..
Viplav talks to a mute statue what are you saying Dhani before the judge?? ..has some one coerced you? why are you lying? tell the truth Dhani, he begs her! The prosecution yells what is going on when the defendant has admitted her crime why is she being pressurized by the defence? Viplav yells because she is lying your honour! when the defendant prepared the case with him she said she didn't commit murder. He can speculate that some pressure has been exerted on her. Viplav goes back to her , assures her, Dhani this is the court, there is no need for her to lie here, he is with her. Why do you lie? Dulari pleads state the truth Dhani the truth. You didn't murder any one they both know that. But Dhani stands mute. Prosecution urges the judge , there nothing to argue about everything is clear ,crystal clear! give the sentence! Viplav , pools in his strength , he has to save her , he'll with the reason of her mute, near deathly silence later, and fight back with his arguments, he thinks his client is gripped by fear and is tongue tied , by the flurry of questions. She is confused. By the prosecution lawyer's questions. Thus in confusion she said yes. It was related to the question, yes my husband drank and not to the one that you killed him! Is that right Dhani? Viplav asks, and she nods, yes my husband used to drink? Boldy Viplav , requests the judge for another chance. but prosecutor yells what chance is he asking for? where the convicted has already confessed to her crime!!,defence lawyer, wants to change her questions! One more chance will mean wasting courts time !But Viplav argues, your honour, the defendant was pressured by the prosecution's question , that's why she said what she said. That's why he is requesting for another hearing.. It's a matter of life or death.. dexterously Viplav buys time. Judge agrees, fine the sentence will be passed tomorrow. Court is adjorned for the day!! Dhani is led away. Awasthi's are disappointed. Kanak asks Dashrant , how come she confessed to her crime so easily? Does Dhani score a moral victory over the tirpathi's ?
Viplav follows her as she is taken to police vehicle, asks her has any one said something to her? what did she do inside? If that's how you will behave! he won't be able to save her no one can! Did someone come to the jail to coerce her?? say something she cannot be quiet, Dhani! He yells as she is driven away .dashrant says, has he gone mad? Viplav she has confessed to her crime. He yells she lies!... Dhani watches from the van as she is driven away , forgive me Viplav I had no other option! Did it for his happiness for his family's happiness .. Their happiness comes before her happiness...that's why I lied.
She is led before to the cell.. The warden says to her , she has seen many cases but you are one of a kind, who accepted your crime so easily. dhani weeps...
Dulari at the ashram queries Dhani's swift confession. she loses it raj laxmi restrain her
Viplav comes to see her in prison. asks her to come clean Dhani.. No one is here.. Tell him, does she have any idea what she has done? Does she think she'll say anything before the judge and he'll save her? who came to see here here?She recalls ,dadi , but she is quiet Viplav begs, being silent won't solve anything.. then she speaks, Forgive me Viplav..I lied to you..yes its true I did kill my husband.I was frightened that s why I hid it... viplav growls,she lies Dhani !she lies.look him in the eye and tell and him , he'll believe her .because she can fool all but she can't fool him .By lying she is destroying him and herself to Dhani! He growls as she stands with her back to him..then he calms down and says, sadly, today would have been a happy day for him, he would have taken her home today .. But look at destiny's game. But let him tell her something as her husband.. The oaths they took during marriage , he has not forgotten. He won't let her get punished so easily for something she hasn't done! he'll get her released and with full rites, rituals and fanfare he will have her accepted into his home also.. And Viplav leaves..she turns and cries Viplav ! he stops with an angry face .. But then walks off.. vexed by her about turn..
There are many ways to fight a war.. confront the enemy full, on counter attack , recede, and attack again reinforced.. but what manner of war did Dhani fight today? Passive resistance ?surrender or what? Viplav's is her god! surely his happiness should come first..what of letting off.. the devil walk, off scot free? so he attacks some other innocent soul? Precap: in the witness box, sulochana says, didn't know an innocent girl will kill my son.. Kanak in witness box says, she used her beauty and snatched my innocent son away from me, she is characterless woman. Lawyer says ,this woman first ensnares rich men, uses them and then kills them ..!Ayeee!!! Viplav comes flying at his throat and says. Enough told you enough!She is my wife did you get that she is my wife! Dashrant , Kanak, Raja ,all shocked!! dhani is stunned.. what style viplav the lion heart!!
