Filmmaker Sandeep Singh escapes Mumbai fire with Ankita Lokhande, Vicky Jain’s help

A massive fire broke out at Sorrento Society in Andheri West, Mumbai, on Thursday morning, affecting the 12th, 13th, and 14th floors. The building houses the residence of filmmaker Sandeep Singh on the 14th floor. Reports confirmed that Singh was safely evacuated with the timely assistance of actress Ankita Lokhande and her husband, Vicky Jain.

Visuals shared by Telly Chakkar showed Singh at a hospital, appearing unharmed and in stable condition. Sources noted that the filmmaker had previously been admitted to Kokilaben Hospital for a hernia. Social media users reacted to the rescue, with one commenting, “Great job both of you God bless you always,” referring to Ankita and Vicky’s prompt action.

According to reports, the fire broke out on the 14th floor of the 23-story building, causing heavy smoke to rise to upper levels. Several residents were temporarily trapped, prompting emergency crews to use the staircases to evacuate approximately thirty to forty individuals who had taken refuge on the 16th-floor safety area.

Mumbai Fire Brigade officials confirmed the incident and said that their teams acted swiftly to control the situation. An MFB spokesperson told the Times of India, “All stranded residents were safely evacuated without any injuries, and the fire was confined to the 14th floor.”

Sandeep Singh is a well-known film producer and director in Hindi cinema. He began his career as a journalist before founding Legend Studios, producing films such as Aligarh, Sarbjit, Bhoomi, and PM Narendra Modi. In 2023, he made his directorial debut with Safed, a socially conscious drama that he also wrote and produced.

Singh has earned a reputation for focusing on real-life stories and biopics, carving a niche as a creative voice in contemporary Bollywood. Despite the unexpected fire incident, Singh’s safety and prompt assistance from Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain ensured that he was unharmed.
