The heated exchange of legal notices between Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan is public knowledge now. A relationship they tried so hard to keep shielded, is now out in the open. But according to sources close to the actor, Hrithik had been anticipating this for a while. And he was prepared for the scandal before it blew up in everyone's faces.

A close friend of the star reveals, "Hrithik was expecting it. He had a closed-door meeting with some of the top officials from the Mumbai Police regarding the matter. He shared with them all the emails and correspondence with Kangana. He had been advised to keep it official in case of an eventuality like this."

Matters have now taken an ugly turn and in days to come, more is likely to be revealed from both sides. What led to this bitter war between the duo is Kangana coming out about her relationship with Hrithik. HR, who has always been more concerned with maintaining a squeaky clean image than anything else, denied having anything to do with the actress. She naturally felt slighted and then came the break-up and the ugliness followed.

Insiders say they got into a relationship around three years back. "They were involved, but there was too much at stake for the actor who was married at the time and grappling with an impending separation and divorce with Sussanne Khan," says a source.

However, Kangana's close aides insist that it wasn't the break-up that caused the friction, it was the manner in which Hrithik handled it. "This wasn't her first relationship nor her first split for her to get so disturbed," reveals one of them. "He led her to believe she was the one for him. She always wanted to come out in the open and he asked her to wait for the right time. He was not even willing to acknowledge her presence. They have been co-stars and while he regularly tweets his wishes to actresses like Deepika and Sonam, who he hasn't worked with, he never once wished her for her films. That was humiliating to her. But Hrithik has always been that careful."

Many questions will be raised now with regard to this relationship'. The most pertinent of all being: were they seeing each other when Hrithik was still married to Sussanne? Was this the real reason behind his divorce? With the way things are going, the answers will be revealed soon enough.
