Sagar broke the silence first. " Gangaa are you ok?" Sagar asked. " Yeah I am okay" she replied with a smile on her face.
" Are you okay" Gangaa asked. " If you are okay, them I am okay to"Sagar replied as he turned to face Gangaa.
" You know Gangaa, yesterday I had promised myself that I would bring back the smile on your face.. And today you did. Maybe it is a sign. Maybe it really is time to move on" Sagar told her.
" Of course I will smile. I have you back". Gangaa told him as another smile graced her face.
"Sagar, I forgive you. I don't want to dwell on the past anymore. I want to move on in my life. I want you to move on in life too. It's a new day. As far as justice goes, if I were in your place I would have done the same. I am not that selfish Sagar. I love everyone too much, to think of myself" she poured her heart out to him.
"Everyone?" Sagar asked filled with curiosity. " Yea everyone" Gangaa replied absentmindedly. " Even me?" the words slipped out before Sagar could take them back.
Gangaa didn't how to reply. She did love him, however she just couldn't say it. She didn't know if she loved him as he was her best friend or...
Before she could think any further, Supriya had arrived. " Hello lovebirds. You two seem to be in a good mood. Did something happen" she said with a goofy smile on her face.
Gangaa threw a cushion at her. "Supu, you are done" she said and started chasing after Supriya. " Gangaa be careful" Sagar said.
Both of them circled around the chairs in the balcony, as Gangaa was still chasing Supriya. " Ok. Alright sorry" Supriya said, out of breath. But Gangaa didn't stop. She hit her pinky against a chair and fell in Sagar's lap. " Oww, my foot" she yelled out in pain. " Gangaa, are you crazy. Can't you ever be careful. Idiot" he scolded her. " Gangaa you are too much" Sagar continued.
Supriya was watching them. They call themselves best friends. They love each other and they can't even see it. Both of them are budhu's.
" Ehrm... Erhm" Pulkit cleared his throat. " What is going on here" he asked.
Sagar let go of Gangaa. "Uhh.. Nothing Bhaiya. Gangaa was being immature again" Sagar tried to change the subject. Gangaa had the perfect idea in order to distract Pulkit.
She pushed Supriya into Pulkit. " Oh.. I am so sorry Pulkit" Supriya apologized, feeling embarrassed. Sagar gave Gangaa the look. He knew what was going on in her mind, and decided to join in. " Lovebirds" he said as he looked at them.
Pulkit glared at Sagar. "Oh no Bhaiya, I didn't mean you. I was just thinking who invented this word" Sagar teased. Pulkit was feeling flustered as so was Supriya. Gangaa was having a hard time controlling her laughter.
" Gangaa, Sagar, Pulkit" Niru called. " Ji Baabu, we are coming" Gangaa replied back. The four of them proceeded downstairs.
They met Niru downstairs. He asked Sagar and Gangaa to accompany him, and led them to his study. " I have to talk to you about something very important".
Curiosity filled Ganga?. Niru looked at her, and smiled. This eased her tension. " What happened baabu"? Gangaa questioned.
" Those men have been apprehended" he told her with a big smile on his face. Gangaa couldn't believe it. She asked Niru if he was sure, and he told her he was positive. " Baabu, really? They..t-they have been caught?" she asked still hoping he would say yes. " Yes, Gangaa. It's true" and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.Gangaa thought she was deaming. She thought she would wake and the painful reality would hit her. But nothing happened. She was overcome with emotions. She didn't know if she should cry or be happy. So, to keep herself from losing her balance she took a seat.
A tear droplet, fell on her cheek. These were happy tears. These were tears which had enclosed within them the hope of many years. The hope to get justice one day.
" Gangaa, people with evil intentions cannot let go of their habits. Actually I shouldn't even be telling you this. Someone else deserves the credit and should tell you the entire story "he told her. He looked at Sagar and called someone inside
"You did this? But how?" Gangaa asked. She was stunned. Her mind was racing, but she needed to know.
" Actually uncle told me everything about what had happened five years ago. I am a journalist Gangaa. Iknew how repulsive and sickening these people were but I couldn't do anything, since I had no proof. But someone else also knew how cheap they were Gangaa" Supriya interjected and looked at Sagar.
" Gangaa, I know I couldn't get you justice last time, but I had decided a long time ago, that I would one day;. by hook or by crook. So, I suggested a plan to Supriya, and she immediately agreed to help" he relayed the information to her.
" We decided that the only way we could get them to speak out the truth was to manipulate their weakness which is money, women, and alcohol. Gangaa that man is animal. He cannot differentiate between a woman and an object" he told her with a note of disgust in his voice.
" He is right Gangaa" Niranjan offered his opinion. " He doesn't deserve to be called a human" Niru added.
" Sagar was sent to Virendra Singh's house as a new recruit into one of his many gangs, who wanted to work for him. We had geared him with all the equipment necessary to record the entire conversation. We had a doctor, and a lawyer with us in the van where this was all being recorded. We needed him to tell us the truth, and it was time he pay for his deeds. So Niranjan uncle granted us the court order to allow us to arrest him soon after his confession" Supriya explained.
"I sent a colleague of mine, into their house as a trafficker. He offered Virendra money, in exchange for getting him drugs and girls he could traffick out if the country. Sagar was present in the room, and the button of his shirt had a camera placed in it which recorded the entire conversation." She continued.
"Gangaa, he accepted that his sons have been involved in violence and abuse against women. We had to get him to say your name. So we showed him your photo, and offered him money if he could get you to us. He agreed and tasked his sons with responsibility. He told us in his inebriated condition that his sons could easily get you to us, because you have a past" Sagar further added.
"So with a little bit of coaxing he, accepted that his sons had... Anyway, we got his confession and I sent the footage to the head of the channel, and we played it. My brother is in college and a youth rights activist, so we sent him the footage too. He posted it on the Internet, and this whole matter is now not only national, but this issue has been picked up by international news channels too" Supriya told her with a hint of pride in her voice.
"People are outraged. All his illegal work, drug smuggling, trafficking, violence, it is all out in the open , and the court has already given the order for their arrest, and an investigation to be launched into their activities. This time there is not a chance they will be freed. This time, the whole country has witnessed their abhorring deeds. Ganga justice has been served. You don't have to wonder anymore" Sagar finished. Gangaa broke down. Supriya comforted her. She silently thanked God for for helping her out, and for blessing her with a friend like Sagar.
" Supriya, Sagar, Baabu, I am speechless. Thank you seems like too small of a word". Gangaa was having difficulty expressing her gratitude.
" Gangaa, don't be stupid. You don't have to say anything. This was my responsibility, my right to help you and I did" Sagar told her as she hugged him. Niru and Supriya both smiled at the scene in front of them
