All movies are given a rating as they go through the censor board

All Indian movies have rating.

U - Universal (anyone can watch)

U/A -(Mild adult content-parental discretion-above 13 only)

A - (Adult -above 18 only)

X - (Graphic and po*n)

But most of the times no one bothers to check these ratings. For eg. Neil and Nikki was rated 'A' but since it came from YRF all the kids watched it.

Mostly don't. It only appears on the posters and movie certificate. That's what I said people hardly give it importance which is wrong.

I remember there was a movie 'Utsav' and I wanted to see because Rekha was in it but my parents told me that kids cannot watch it. Later I realized that it was rated 'A'. Nowadays parents hardly give importance to rating.

I think they do have them in india, since it was only a few days back when the censor board wanted to class Saawariya as a PG if Ranbir's butt scene was left in......SLB cut it so now it is a U in india, but the scene has been left in outside india where it is a PG

Not sure if the cinemas actually enforce the ratings though and actually check to see who the tickets are being sold to
