I have been a silent reader of this forum for close to 2 years now and have often thought of responding but never did. This post made me feel the need to do so, I have no idea why.
I just want to start out by saying I never found Adi to be a jerk, I just found him to be a misguided bratty pre-teen. And the reason people found Adi to be a "jerk" and Ruhi to be "poor" now is because that is the how the CVs want to portray their characters. Going with that though, just for the sake of discussion, there are differences between the two.1) Adi's mother was not presumed dead until after he had already accepted Ishita as his mother. At the time Adi was a "jerk" his parents had been separated for 6 years. Here Ruhi's mother has not even been missing for 6 days, I think, in YHM time span. So her not even having a chance to grieve her mother or get her father's love and affection after the loss of her mother plays a big role in people feeling sorry for her, I am sure.2) We first "met" Adi when he invited Raman to his home to have him sign papers that would officially change his name from Aditya Raman Bhalla to Aditya Ashok Khanna. This is akin to divorcing his dad, especially since Ashok was neither his step-dad nor had he officially adopted Adi. Adi was very dismissive of Raman at the time and Raman was almost begging Adi for some attention and did not argue with him, he simply signed the papers. Here Ruhi has asked to divorce and instead of questioning her or trying to understand her he told her to shut up and behave like a child. Though taken out of the scene in the episode, in the OLV he raised his had at her as well when Bala stepped in. Comparing the reaction of Raman both times also plays a role in how people view the children as well.3) After the Holi incident with Adi Raman forced Ishita to apologize to Adi in public, and in front of his daughter. Today after Ruhi left the house Nidhi said she would handle Ruhi and apologize if need be and Raman's response was that there was no need to apologize to her. Once again, Raman is showing to be different in handling the children. He seems to be indifferent to Ruhi's feelings but was never shown to be indifferent to Adi in any way shape or form.4) Adi was never given a scene where we were given his perspective or thoughts. We were left to just take it as he was misguided and was neglected by his mother who craved a lavish lifestyle. Ruhi has always been shown to be mature beyond her years, needlessly most of the time. She has been her Ishima's champion from the onset, yet she has adored her Papa. He was/is her most favorite person in the world. She yearned for a mother but craved her father's love and attention from the beginning. Remember their first conversation on the phone when he still lived in Mumbai? Prior to the divorce papers scene, Ruhi was shown to be crying and her fear was shown to the audience in her dialogue of saying, she worried that Raman would forget about her because of Nidhi just as he has forgotten her Ishima. Even after giving the divorce papers to Raman, she came back and cried to Ishita's picture that she was sorry for misbehaving with her Papa. Adi was never shown to be that way, instead he was shown to be plotting and scheming like a vamp. Ruhi only decided to leave the house after overhearing her grandparents conversation. Ruhi's feelings and actions are given attention and Adi's weren't and still are not.5) The long and short of it is that Ruhi is a central character of the show, she is and has always been in the montage of the show. She is the reason that her parents came together and fell in love, she is the tie that binds, the soul of their relationship, their roo. Adi is a a support character. They do not delve into his emotional state very much or at all. As exemplified by the fact that he was supposed to be considering suicide and then two days later he was sent to football camp. And then recently he was having difficulty with making friends and then all of sudden that situation got swept under the rug as well, just like his girlfriend. "YHM logic," the ways of the Indian serial world.sorry for the length of my rant, it was not intended to be so long.

Imagine an 8 year old ( sorry in show she is 6 or 7 ) lost her mother and with in few hours her father rather then supporting his kids bring another woman in the house, show no sympathy to his children, no reassurance that I am still here , what would a child think ???
Comparing Aadi and Ruhi is personal choice , but I wouldn't compare , the show is about how a little girl brought two people who hated each other together , she is always going to be the centre of the show, she would always get more screen space wether one likes it or not .
The creators conveniently always forgets that children in the show are children , they are not acting to be children , they are given dialogues heavier them their own weight .
Ruhi and Aadi should be shown together to go through this , they are letting Ruhi go through this alone and hence people are getting agitated and unhappy with Ruhi's character .
My niece is only 4 and the way she talks scares me as she says things more then her age , kids are very sharp these days , they are exposed to so many things which they shouldn't . 4 year old dancing on " Baby Doll" is not cute , " meri Desi look" is not appropriate for a little girl to dance on, don't we see this all time on social media ???
