Is Our Industry That Sad That We Get Excited About Presenting An Oscar

I just want to ask everyone.

Well I mean we as a forum go through like 5 threads during Cannes. Walking the red carpet and presenting awards isn't a big deal, but we take it there every time someone does. It's exciting to see brown representation nonetheless--there's barely any barring Mindy, Aziz and Archie. But it'd be more exciting to see BW and Indian actors being nominated and actually winning.

Quick question, why do you think PC undermined Sonam's success and Neerja? I mean there's still a lot of positive feedback coming her way. It's not like she's being completely forgotten.

On serious note, yeah it is silly, hearing people say "Priyanka made India proud by presenting Oscar". But Neerja is getting it's due, so you are kind of overreacting.

I understand that PC is excited and happy to get the chance to present an Oscar and also her fans who are happy for her achievement. But its her personal achievement and it has actually nothing to do with her representing India. Yes she is an indian actress but she is acting on an american TV show and her being there as a presenter has also something to do with that.
But what will you do the media overhype and rave about everyhting they see. I would rather see those A-list actors acting in really good content driven Hindi movies and attend with those at some festivals and represent India which is worth to be talked about it.

Good for Priyanka because Hollywood is xenophobic and the Oscars is overrated.

All its good at is hijacking ideas from around the world.

Last Samurai was not about a Japanese samurai
Prince of Persia was not about an Iranian prince.

There is a reason why there was lack of diversity in this years Oscars.

Ethnic minorities are rejected at casting even if the story asks for it.

There has been a recent trend of Hollywood doing remakes of ANIME stories from Japan.

'DeathNote' an East Asian American actor had revealed they specifically asked No East asians for the main lead on their casting calls. Even though the story is about a Japanese man set in Japan.

I don't get the connection. Why does it have to reflect on Bollywood in any way if people want to gush about Priyanka at the Oscars? Most of it is at a superficial level anyway, but that kind of gushing, or bashing, happens for anyone be it Oscars or FilmFare. I don't think it took anything away from Neerja's success. As it is there have been treads about Leo winning, Kate and Mira's matching jewelry, and KJo's accurate predictions, and now 24 hours later those treads are mostly on the back pages and we are talking about Fan, Safeena and everything else Bollywood.

Like it or not, BW is not as big as HW. There's that quote from somewhere "you're not famous until you're famous in America." I'm just saying it in jest but everyone enjoys when their own gets attention internationally.
