@Ramya I may not know old Tamil songs. Most of the songs I know are that of ARR composition, then Illayaraja and Harris Jayaraj.
But classical base is used only by ARR, I guess Illayaraja has also used it in Sindhu Bairavi, but apart from that I have not heard many Illayaraja songs with classical base.

Shankara Nada Sharira Hara

Sankaraa naadha shareeraa paraa
veda vihaaraharaa jeeveshwara

[Sankara! O wonderful embodied form of the unmanifest cosmic vibration, Om! (you are the universe). Hara(Shiva), You are the very abode of the sacred Vedas, and the Lord of all life forms.]

Praanamu neevani gaaname needani
praaname gaanamani
mouna vichakshana gaana vilakshana
raagame yogamani (2 times)

[You are the life on earth. Songs are Your creation. Life is like a song. Silent introspection enlightens us to the truth that singing divine songs is a way to reach the higher spiritual elevation.]

Naadhopaasana chesina vaadanu
nee vaadanu nenaithe (2 times)

[I will sing Your glories forever, I would like to be called Your faithful servant.]

Dhikkarendrajita himagirindrajita sita
kantha ra neelakanta raa
kshudhrulerugani rudraveena
nirnidhra gaanamidi avatarinchara vini tarinchara (Sankaraa)

[O Lord Sankara, the lord of all directions, the one who resides on the lofty peaks of the Himalayas! O Lord, who is handsome because of a beautiful Blue coloured throat (because he swallowed the most dangerous poison to save this universe)! My song is like the eternal music from Rudraveena about which demons would not know, please come here, listen and enjoy the song.]

Merise merupulu murise pedavula
chiru chiru navvulu kavolu
urimey urumulu sari sari natanala
siri siri muvvalu kavolu

[The dazzling lightning is, perhaps the smile of response (of my praise) on Your lips. The roaring thunders are perhaps the chimes from Your golden anklets while You dance in tune (to my song).]

Paravashaana sira suvuganga
dharaku jaarenaa shiva gangaa (2 times)
Naa gaanala harinu munugangaa
Aananda vrishtine tadavangaa

[Mesmerized by my song, You nodded Your head blissfully, and the holy river Ganga, bound in Your dreadlocks slipped to Your forehead (and therefore onto the Earth, in the form of torrent). While You were immersing yourself in my song, I soaked in the happy rain (your blessings) which showered onto the Earth.]

One who dwells in the lotus hearts of sages. Delights in protecting the entire universe.
Your lovely face conquers the moon and your eyes brim with compassion. You annihilated with great anger, the enemies of INDRA.
Oh SRI RAMACANDRA!, having sacred glory.
You abide in SYANANDURA. You remove the worldly desires of those who prostrate you. You form is lovelier than Cupid and your hands are thick and round like the snake.
You are effulgent with a beautiful forehead; destroyer of sins, protector of the host of celestials. You are like the moon for lilies of devotees who bow at your feet.

Translation
The translation by A. H. Fox Strangways in The Music of Hindoostan
Is this sweet babe
The bright crescents moon, or the charming flower of the lotus?
The honey in a flower, or the luster of the full moon?
A pure coral gem, Or the pleasant chatter of parrots?
A dancing peacock, or a sweet singing bird?
A bouncing young deer, or a bright shining swan?
A treasure from God, or the pet parrot in the hands of Isvari?
The tender leaf of the kalpa tree, or the fruit of my tree if fortune?
A golden casket to enclose the jewel of my love?
Nectar in my sight, or a light to dispel darkness?
The seed of my climbing fame, or a never-fading bright pearl?
The brilliance of the sun to dispel all the gloom of misery?
The Vedas in a casket, or the melodious vina?
The lovely blossom put forth by the stout branch of my tree of enjoyment
The cluster of pichaka buds, or sugar-candy sweet on the tongue?
The fragrance of musk, the beat of all good?
A breeze laden with the scent of flowers, or the essence of purest gold?
A bowl of fresh milk, or of sweet smelling rose water?
The field of all virtue, or an abode of all duty?
A cup of thirst-quenching cold water, or a sheltering shade?
A never-failing mallika flower, or my own stored up wealth?
The auspicious object of my gaze, or my most precious jewel?
A stream of virtuous beauty, or an image of the youthful Krishna?
The bright forehead mark of the goddess Lakshmi ?
Or, by the mercy of Padmanabha, is it the source of my future happiness?
Is it, in this beautiful form, an Avatar of Krishna Himself?

Kalpavriksha also known as kalpataru, kalpadruma or kalpapdapa, is a wish-fulfilling divine tree in Hindu mythology.Kalpavriksha is also identified with many trees such as Parijata , banyan tree, coconut tree etc . The tree is also extolled in iconography and literature.

Sung by: KS Chitra

Omanathinkal Kidavo is a lullaby in Malayalam that was composed by Irayimman Thampi on the birth of Maharajah Swati Thirunal. To date, it remains one of the most popular lullabies in the Malayalam language. The lullaby was composed by Thampi at the request of the then ruler of Travancore Maharani Gowri Lakshmi Bayi , to put the baby King Swati Thirunal to sleep. The lyrics of the poem reflect this sense of relief when it refers to the baby as a 'treasure from God' and 'the fruit of the tree of fortune

Originally composed in the Kurinji Raga and set to Adi Tala, it is most often performed in the Navaroj or Nilambari ragas. An interesting feature of this lullaby is that it doesn't mention the word sleep in it even once. The sleep is thus induced by the effect of the raga. The song lends itself well to the expressions of the navarasas and is therefore often set to dance.
