Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has hailed the decision to hoist the national flag in all central universities in the country, saying the tricolour inspires Indians to soar high and reach new heights.

The actor took to Twitter on Friday to express his views on the human resource development ministry's directive to all central universities in the country to fly the national flag.

Totally with the decision of the tricolour being hoisted at all central universities and why not it brings out the best in us, inspires us to soar high," Akshay tweeted.To instil nationalism', Smriti Irani and VCs agree to national flag on campus

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan on Friday batted for the union government's decision that the tricolour should be hoisted in all central university campuses.

If not an Indian flag then what...Its not as if the Universities will promote any particular language/caste/creed/language...they will promote patriotism...I don't get the controversy here😕

Good to see akshay supporting a good decission.Seriously tricolour invokes so many positivity in any indian, its presence will do good only.And India me kahivi India ka flag lehrane ke liye koi controversy ki gunzaish nahi honi chahiye.Its the symbol of our country, not any particular religion. National flag's presence anywhere in a country is accepted.

There should be no reason to oppose it but... pro afzal league terms it as extreme nationalism.

Even retired soldier Bakshi cried in this debate.
