Opening Day Figure = Status of Stardom

Really? Does opening day figure really determines someone's star power and popularity? What about those fans who have already choosen to watch their favourite star's film on a later date, does that not count into a star's popularity? Are we conveniently using the opening day number card to bring down certains stars we dislike? What does exactly determine an actor's superstar status? Are we confused between superstardom and super acting skills? Whats your take on this?

I personnally think that the opening day of a movie is an indication of the starpower of an actor. But the promotions and the movie's theme has a hand in it too.

Then the word of mouth and fate of the movie are the result of the directing, acting and quality of a movie.

Why does the opening day figure vary even for a Khan film?? As in comparing a superstar's last three films.. Why do u think they vary??

i do think first day = STARPOWER-Holiday (major factor) + trailers-music-promotions(minor factors)
but first Monday onwards depend upon WOM..

if that was not the case in no way HNY and PRDP types could grab around '40' crores on first day..

Possible.. Do u think besides a Khan, other star attractiom the film could add onto the opening day number?? Do u think Varun's star status contributed anything to opening day figure of Dilwale or was it SRK all the way??

Maybe because of the theme of the movie, the promos, the critics or the reputation of the star at the moment of the release.

Exactly!! Precisely why I find it weird when people use this opening day figure to praise/write off an actor... And hence the topic.. Btw thank u for your sensible replies..🤗

HR has a better opening day number too.. i may link that too his stardom thatss considered next to Khans.. Bang Bang was not some very great thing yet got 25 crores.. (i dont remember exactly)
In case of Dilwale... many factors combined in chaos.. and ended up in an un-expected disaster (not saying acc to BO numbers)... Unfortunately Varun had nothing to do in the movie.. with or w/o Varun movie would have garnered same number.. cox movie was more of promoted as SRK-Kajol and SRK-Shetty movie...

That said, i believe that newbies in bolly havent that starpower yet that can be interpreted in terms of number.. they need strong scripts-promotions-dance-masala-and much more to fetch good numbers...

As far as promotions goes even the khans are doing it vigorously.. Doesnt that take away the credit of their stardom?? Young and newbie stars can be more popular among the current generation.. Wont that be unfair to current generation of actors to say they dont have starpower??
