Alia Bhatt (Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania) and Kriti Sanon (Dilwale), both of whom have worked with Varun Dhawan in the past, are the first choices for the two leading ladies in Judwaa 2.

Varun will be seen in a double role (like Salman in Judwaa).

"The idea is to keep the film young. Besides, Varun's pairing with both the girls has been loved in the past. There are strong chances, that at least one of them if not both, will be roped in," says a source close to the film's producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director David Dhawan.

Shraddha Kapoor to star in 'Judwaa 2'?

Shraddha Kapoor is said to have been signed as one of Varun Dhawan's two leading ladies for the sequel to the 1997 film 'Judwaa'

Varun Dhawan has stepped into Salman Khan's shoes for the sequel to David Dhawan's 1997 hit 'Judwaa', which starred two actresses " Karisma Kapoor and Rambha.

And sources close to the project reveal that Shraddha has been signed as one of the two girls opposite the young actor, who will be seen in a double role.

"This will be the second time that Varun will be seen with Shraddha. Their pairing in the 2015 dance drama ABCD 2 was received well by the audience and the makers want to cash in on that. The other actress is yet to be finalised," says an insider.

Shraddha's spokesperson denied the story, saying, "She has not been approached for the project." However, our sources maintain that she has been signed for the project which is likely to roll during the latter part of the year.

David Dhawan

The David Dhawan directorial has original producer Sajid Nadiadwala on board. Confirming strong buzz about the sequel, Varun revealed his look from the film on social media yesterday. Interestingly, when we had got in touch with Dhawan Sr and Nadiadwala last November to enquire about the 1997 film's part deux, they had both denied the story.

Please Alia stay away from this mess. Honestly I'll be shocked if she agreed to do a David Dhawan movie. Why would she do that after working with Gauri Shinde and Abhishek Chaubey? I think for her even doing a Shashank Kaitan movie is stupid at this point.

David Dhawan liked repeating actors and actresses in the 90s. I say give the roles to Nargis and Illeanna.

I want Kriti for sure, their chemistry in Dilwale wasn't allowed to fully come through due to being overshadowed by the Kajol-SRK hype.

I don't care who the other role goes to, I like Alia and Shraddha both, but a fresh pairing would be even better.

Well Alia has said plenty of times she's a big fan of David Dhawan's films and that they were a big part of her influence to want to become an actress. She got a good response for HSKD even critically speaking so I don't think its such a silly idea to do Khaitan's next. She has to strike a commercial balance with her films as well.

Regardless though, I'm fairly sure this is all mere conjecture at this point. Doubt the cast is locked.

I think it's one thing to have been a fan of David Dhawan movies in the 90s, but another thing to want to do one now in the changing times of Bollywood. She's also said she was a fan of Rohit Shetty and Sooaj Barjatya. I don't want to see her in their movies either. Yes HSKD worked for her, and she might do that one out of obligation or Dharma, but my opinion is still the same 😉.

I think you can hit commercial success with non-masala films as well. No matter what Shinde's movie with SRK will have some success due to his presence especially since it's a small film. And hopefully K&S will work for her too.

You are right though Swati, this is nothing more than media speculation at this point. I don't think even the sources are really sources.

Yeah trust me I'm not thrilled this film is happening nor do I have high expectations. But if theres one thing I realised last year is never under or overestimate any director or genre of film. A well-made film is a well made film regardless of whatever genre. If before last year somebody told me Remo D'Souza would get a better response for his film than Vikas Bahl I would've laughed and probably sniggered.😆But we saw what happened.

Some massy films turn out to be gold for some actors say for instance Deepika in CE, so I guess you can't really say what film will work out well for someone or what won't.
