Oh wow ...TFS 😊So he has been doing it for a while without beating the drums - a responsible superstar and a producer👍🏼 . He may be vocal about things and may have landed in controversies for that but that's what pulls me towards him - not afraid of talking and helping others quietly ( be it charitable help or helping people he s working with )
It's not his first film which hasn't delivered as expected, this time, what didn't work in favour of the film was the price it was sold at. The film was sold to distributors at a record price and the business of the film was unable to make up for that.
If you haven't guessed already, we are referring to Dilwale, produced by and featuring Shah Rukh Khan. But Khan being Khan has done the unthinkable. He has decided to return half the money to distributors who lost money on his film. As producer of the film, Khan himself coasted to safety. Besides, the film did tremendous business overseas. But being a bade dilwala, he didn't want to have anyone who had shown faith in his company and his product suffering losses. So, he's decided to shoulder half the losses.
He's done something like this twice before, when his films Asoka andPaheli didn't live up to expectations. After Asoka disappointed, Khan sold his next release Chalte Chalte at a price that was far less than it would have otherwise commanded to the same set of distributors.Chalte Chalte released along with UTV Motion Pictures via individual distributors.
When Paheli failed, Khan told Eros International, the partner of his next release Om Shanti Om, that distributors who had lost money on his previous project should be given preference for this film. He said they should get the first right to refuse the film and that it should also be given to them at a fair price. Om Shanti Om was a very hot project at the time of its release since it had Farah Khan as its director and she had made her debut as a director with a huge success in Main Hoon Na.
Khan's funda is very clear - that he should not disappoint those who show faith in his company and his product. Here's ending this piece with a line from one of his films - haar kar jitney waalon ko Baazigar kehte hain!

@Nora: Finally watched it...why so hesitant and under confident about talking about it? He isnt sure and THINKS Reshma took care of it. Salman even NOW does shitty projects for friends so its not as if he cares about the quality of his films. Anyways Paheli wasnt the first...returned money even for Asoka.
Bada Dilwala King Khan

I love Katrina now. She gave birth to a son and pleased her in-laws and hot husband Vicky. It seems she is a great bahu, wife, and mother....
