INNOCENCE OF LOVE


aawariya is the story of two young lovers whose passions consume their will to the point of self-destruction. The film is a romantic story at the crux of which lie, two lonely and innocent souls plagued by inner turmoil, anger, anxiety and the desperate wait for love.
Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) is an artist who finds the love of his life Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) in a quaint picturesque town. The bubbling, extrovert and flagrant Raj does everything to charm Sakina, whose intriguing personality and mysticism is a complete contrast to Raj's personality. Opposites attract and the two fall in love. Surrounded by mountains shrouded in mist and natural beauty that spells out a poet's canvas the two lovers can't get enough of each other. But, as is the case, all good things come to an end and Raj and Sakina's magical love story goes chaotic thanks to Sakina's haunting past and Raj's whirlwind experiences of desire, madness and romance.
Saawariya is a beautiful love story that focuses on the trails, hardships and emotional tangents of falling in love and living up to intense relationships.

The reason the subject has touched me so much is because it allows me to take Indian cinema on a completely different level. The film will allow Indian audiences to get in touch with innocence a virtue that can take humans close to God.
Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are very gifted young actors. Their talent comes from part heritage and part dedication. Their real life personalities fit the characters of the film perfectly which motivated me further and helped me rejuvenate my vision.
Having worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Black, I was on a professional and personal high. It was the epitome of working with a legendary actor, but I needed a new challenge. I chose the task of moulding new talent, shaping new actors into my own vision and Ranbir and Sonam gave me that liberty.
Saawariya is all about its characters Raj and Sakina. I am sure Ranbir and Sonam are the stars of the future and this film will be the perfect start to their careers and it will do wonders for my filmmaking vision."
