Let's have a showdown of films released in recent years during Republic Day Week. There were 3 films released in this week so far from 2014-16, while 2 films out of these Airift & Baby got the advantage of big national holiday 26th jan, while for 1 film Jai Ho, it was having republic day on it's 1st sunday itself, so couldn't get any advantage.

Box Office: If you see comparison till 1st week, Salman Khan's Jai Ho leads among other two Akshay Kumar starrers Airlift & Baby. Difference between Airlift & Jai Ho isn't big, but former got the huge holiday advantge on 5th day, while Jai Ho was non-holiday performer. For Akshay Kumar, Airlift has done terrific business as it will cross whole lifetime of Baby in 2nd weekend itself which came last year in 2015. Although Jai Ho was under-performer semi-hit for Salman, yet it did a whooping 100 cr weekend Worldwide, very rare for a film which wasn't bumper opener. Airlift is earning maximum from big city multiplexes, mass centre hasn't performed from day 1, same was case for Baby, while Jai Ho was having upper hand in mass circuits because of Salman's mass appeal.

Content: Content & Postive WOM wise both Akshay Kumar films lead by huge margin against Jai Ho. Jai Ho was having negative wom from start itself, couldn't benefit from it which later on reflected on it's collection as well. Airlift is having much better wom than Baby, currently this is Akshay Kumar's strongest film in recent years in terms of Content. Filled with patriotism, film is gaining critical as well as commercial success.

Airlift is chasing down Jai Ho's lifetime total & after crossing it, seeing the latest trend it is aiming to be Akshay Kumar's Highest Grosser beating Rowdy Rathore which came in 2012. This will be Akshay Kumar's 4th 100 Cr grosser after Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore & Holiday. Now it is yet to be seen as how much big impact this phenomenal patriotic postive WOM will help Akshay's Airlift in coming weeks. This friday another big film Mastizaade is releasing, that film's performance will also affect Airlift. So just wait & watch.
