KanchI kAUL--bhabhi has higher trps

A fter an eight-month-long hia- tus, she's back on television. Kanchi Kaul was touted the next big thing on TV when she was , launched in Ek Ladki Anjani Si. But things didn't go as planned. Kaul was reportedly shown the door after her heavy-handed behaviour on the sets. Now she's making a come- back in Star Plus' Bhabhi. Good break Kaul says she was happy doing ads during her break from shows. "I wanted to take a break for two to three months after Ek Ladki Anjani Si. Later, I did some ads which were great fun." Kaul claims that she doesn't need to prove anything to anyone after what happened with Ek Ladki.. "I left my first show on a very sour note. It did affect me because they tried to malign me. It wasn't easy ," remembers the actress, adding, "Thankfully my friends in the indus- , try are aware of what actually hap- pened and why I did what I did. They refuse to believe what was splashed about me in the media." "If my supposed bad behaviour was true, why would I keep getting offers even during the last eight months?" she retorts. Apparently Kaul was offered shows on new channels as well as one with Rajshri Productions which didn't materialise. Better roles "The bigger the challenge, the hard- er you work," says Kaul of her role in Bhabhi, in which she's replacing another actress. "Though it's an afternoon show, Bhabhi has higher TRPs than Ek Ladki Anjani Si," she says confidently. Remind Kaul about her unsuc- cessful launch in the movies (Woh Tera Naam Tha) and she shrugs, "I'm not yet ready for the movies, yet. I can't go around asking for work and that's one of the require- ments of the film industry," she signs off.
