If fuggy doesn't matter anymore, his promise doesn't have to matter too, in my opinion. Fuggy made him get attached to that baby.
He could also decide to take a break from both women as he lost all faith in love.
I found it very interesting that both of them were sounding like Pragya in trying to do the right thing!!! Tanu sounded sacrificial in saying she'll raise the baby without the father and she won't force him (which is exactly what she's doing only subtly). And Abhi doing what he needs to even if he doesn't love her.
Of course this whole scene is about moving toward Tanu exposure!!
