Woah! Priyanka Chopra Is Producing THREE Films In 2016 - Here's What They're About!

January 15, 2016

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra is adding another feather to her cap. The actress, who already made 2015 her year with a stellar performance in Bajirao Mastani and the success of her American TV show Quantico, is now taking 2016 by storm too. Her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, announced its foray into regional cinema with three projects that will release this year.

This is what she has to say:

Today entertainment has a wide canvas which is not restricted by language or medium. At Purple Pebble Pictures, we are aspiring to erase boundaries and create an environment where the content/story is the hero. We are a country filled with exceptional young talent and our endeavor is to provide a platform for talent across the entertainment business to showcase their abilities.

Here's an overview of her upcoming projects:

Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi (Bhojpuri)

Written and directed by Santosh Mishra. This is a classic love story that features Bhojpuri superstar Nirahau and Amrapali Dubey. The film begins shooting this month and will release in the summer of 2016.

Ventilator (Marathi)

Written and directed by Rajesh Mapuskar (Ferrari Ki Sawaari). The film is a Dramedy' and features a sterling ensemble cast that includes veteran Marathi film and theatre actors. The film begins shoot in February and releases during Ganpati.

Ek Onkar (Punjabi)

Written by Ambardeep Singh and directed by Karan Guliani. It's a coming-of-age story about a young NRI returning to find his roots. The film stars the leading superstar of Punjabi cinema and starts shoot in March and will release around Gurunanak Jayanti.

Priyanka Chopra further adds:

At the end of the day, we are storytellers and that is only enhanced by being able to tell stories in varied languages. Regional cinema in India has such amazing depth and great cinematic talent. It's been long cherished dream to be able to tell stories in various languages reaching the heartbeat of our country. There is a huge audience for these films and I am very excited to be a part of these 3 amazing projects.

Another article... Along with regional films she'll be producing Hindi films too which will be announced later. So she's actually producing more than 3 films in 2016 contrary to what Miss Malini mentioned in her article above.

I Will Produce All Kinds of Regional Cinema: Priyanka Chopra

January 13, 2016 Bolly-Freak

Priyanka Chopra is having the best time of her life juggling her international projects with her Bollywood ones. In an interview with a leading daily Priyanka mentioned that she wishes to take up production and that she would like to give preference to regional cinema.

She said, ""I want to work with new talent. I want to do small films with new directors, new writers and new actors. I know that getting a foothold in the industry is tough and can be a struggle. Currently, I am working on a few Hindi as well as regional scripts, with new talent. I should be announcing that in the next month or so. As of now, I have almost finalised three regional and two Hindi films. I will produce all kinds of regional cinema as well. I have always maintained that promoting regional cinema is important."

She also spoke about her production venture Madamji , which was stalled. She said, "Yes, and it's because I have been spread so thin, it has been a little slower on the production front."

Well, best of luck to PC in all her ventures!

Glad Priyanka's supporting new talent and regional cinema like this! So proud of PC! you go girl!!

Great PC
Apart from south indian industry, regional cinema is really suffering from money crunch. If PC can lend her name to the good project it will be good for them as well as for her.

This is what I love about her- more action, less talk!

Instead of constant going on about her struggle or whining about the industry, she takes matters in her own hands! Helping other strugglers get foothold in the industry, helping people who have TALENT who get rejected on the basis of not having a mentor!!

Go PC! So many talented directors vanish because of not having a strong backing of dharma or YRF, and people like Nikhil Advani, Ali Abbas Zafar keep getting films!!

Wow .. she always and like always goes into uncharted territories. I hope her gamble pays off. She might make for a good business woman, she always analyzes and find opportunities where not many people have gone before and hence, less competition and more money!! .. Now I just hope that the business plan is a success.

Smart move but yeah... Regional cinema doesn't require too much investment or money so I doubt she will make much money out of this.

Nice move, PC. 🥳
Regional cinema has big scope and her name will add lot of relevance and support to them. Won't be burning much money too.

@bold - Yeah.

And, I don't think money is her goal though. Coz she is earning pretty good from her international projects.

Like you said, Regional cinema's budget isn't as high generally. So it's win-win. Less investment and not a great profit. But she gets to support some talent. 😃
