Actor Alan Rickman, best known as Professor Snape in Harry Potter films, dies at 69

British actor Alan Rickman, best known for his role as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series, died in London at the age of 69.
The Guardian reported that Rickman had been ill with cancer, and that his family confirmed his death on Thursday (Jan 14).
The actor, known for his silky baritone voice and seductive ability to play villains, first shot to fame in 1988, starring as the evil Hans Gruber beside Bruce Willis in Die Hard.
