He held my hand tightly as he looked ahead at the agni in front of us. The pandit continued to speak his mantras as I blurred my train of thought and stared right ahead at the mandap, not flinching one bit as Raman tightened his grip on my hand and looked right ahead as we poured rice into the agni. As the agni invigorated and flamed up more and settled down.

Why was this happening to me? Why was I chosen for him? More than anyone why was I needed to be part of his life? Why? I felt tears roll down my cheeks as I looked at Raman as he remained stone faced. If only I have had never met him that day. If only I had not come to his house.

Chapter 1

Flashback

My eyes were set at the large white and crme colored mansion that was isolated from the world and barred with a large black fence surrounding it. My eyes widened at the royalty of the mansion set in front of me as I placed a strand of hair behind my ear and walked up to the large security guard standing stone faced in front of the large black gate.

"Hi, I'm here for the interview for the maid position, " I said as I looked at the security guard who looked back at me as he grabbed my purse and checked through it for security reasons as he handed it back to me and opened the gate.

I smiled at him as he remained stone faced and looked ahead. I turned and began walking across the large green lawn as I stared at the large brown bricked driveway that contained luxury cars ranging from Mercedes to BMW to Range Rovers. Well, this is the Bhalla Family who are know for their fame and wealth. I thought.

"Hey! You! Don't walk on that lawn!" I heard a gardener say as I looked back and held my ears as I quickly ran off the lawn.

"Sorry!" I yelled as the gardener rolled his eyes and began watering the large bushes of roses surrounding a fountain on the south side of the lawn. I was pretty sure this mansion and property extended more than 50 acres. Wow. I thought as I held on to my purse and walked up the granite stoned steps to a pair of large, dark brown pair of wooden doors.

I looked for the door bell and quickly rang it. I stared at my feet waiting patiently until I heard the door open and noticed a medium sized women wear her hair in a bun and wearing a knee length black dress.

"Namaste, I'm Ishita Naveli. I'm here for the interview for the maid position," I said as the woman eyed me up and down and smiled.

"I'm Neelu. Come in," Neelu said as she turned around and I followed her in.

Woah. How many people live here? I thought as stared at the large granite stair case that expanded across the hallway. A large crystal chandlier was held tall from the ceiling that perhaps extended to the heavens.

The entire hallway was painted a white-pink color and a set of large crme colored sofas were surrounded in a circle as a large crystal coffee table was set in the middle. Another entrance went into a large family room while a long hallway went to the kitchen.

I followed Neelu down the long hallway lit up by ceiling lights. The kitchen was large and contained a set of 5 granite counters in the middle of the kitchen that contained a wide array of vessels, plates and pots along with the entire kitchen full of three refrigerators and three large stoves. Wow, is this kitchen for a family or an entire five star hotel. I thought as I noticed a set of 6 french doors facing a beautiful pond in the backyard.

I noticed about ten women sitting across one of the granite counters as they faced an elderly woman with clear white hair braided back into a bun as she wore a clear light brown colored sari. Along with her sat another woman in a pink salwaar kameez with her black hair also in a bun as it contained a small red rose in it. The third one was scary as she wore a long black dress up to her feet like Neelu's and had a large grim look on her face as she wore her glasses, held her short hair in a small clip and looked at the girls up and down. I gulped. The third one was definitely not nice or friendly.

"This is Ishita," Neelu said as the three women turned around and looked at me as I smiled and gave a small wave.

"Hi...I mean Namaste. May I take a seat, " I said eyeing to the eleventh chair in front of them as the woman with the brown sari smiled as she shook her head.

"Good manners. At least she asked.Hi I am Mrs. Santoshi Bhalla," The woman in the pink salwaar kameez said as I sat down in front of her.

"Hi,I am Toshi's mother-in-law,but you can call me Badi dadi," The woman in the brown sari said as she also gave me a friendly smile.

"I am the housekeeper Lata," The woman in the black dress said bluntly as I gulped and gave her a weak smile as she snarled and snatched my resume.

"Miss Naveli, by looking at your resume, you appear to be somewhat well educated," Lata said as she eyed my resume and noticed I had graduated with a double major in Biology and English.

"Well, I didn't find a job in the market," I said as Lata rolled her eyes.

I had definitely tried finding a job at any local newspapers, at science labs and any company, but simply I lacked experience that they wanted and required. Moreover, Dadi had suffered a stroke last month and I need money to pay for her physical theraphy. Dadi has been the one who brought me and Vandita sister up since Ma and Papa had left both of us to work in Chennai. Ma and Papa have two other sons Arjun and Varun back in Chennai. Somehow, Ma and Papa have negelected our upbringing because Vandita di and I are the daughters of Papa's first marriage who were not desired by our step-mother who we call Ma. My own birth mother passed away in a car accident when I was five. Unfortunately, Ma and Papa are also not supporting Dadi financially due to which I am running out in the city to find jobs. Vandita di had found a job as a teacher and was living happily with Bala Chandra and she offered to help Dadi and me, but we couldn't accept it. Vandita di has to rn her own house to. Dadi's pension really isn't enough to pay for the high cost of the small one bedroom flat we shared in the outskirts of Delhi. So, here I am interviewing for that one job interview.

"Hello! I am talking to you!" Lata said waving her hand in front of me as I fell out of trance and looked up at her.

"Sorry, actually, I really need this job for my Dadi. I know you all might wonder why I would want this job, but I really need it to support my Dadi's medical expenses and to pay for rent" I said as Badi Dadi and Mrs. Santoshi smiled sweetly as they looked at me.

"So?! Listen, don't give me that emotional story of yours!" Lata said firmly as I lowered my eyes while the girls next to me snickered.

"Stop giggling. Try to have an emotional bone," Mrs. Santoshi said as she looked at the girls while I looked up and weakly smiled.

"So, beta, can you cook some main Punjabi dishes," Mrs. Santoshi asked as I shook my head.

"Yes, I know how to cook Punjabi food, other North Indian dishes and even South Indian dishes" I said as Badi Dadi looked at me in aw.

"Really? South Indian dishes too! I love South Indian food," Badi Dadi said excitedly as I smiled back at her.

"Do you know how to clean and mop?We have other household help as we have a total of 30 maids and gardeners, so don't worry about too much workload, but we do want laundry, cooking, and cleaning," Mrs. Santoshi asked as I agreed with her.

"But-what if she leaves this job when she finds a better one?" Lata asked. There goes the buffalo. I thought in my mind as I felt slightly irritated by Lata.

"I won't, I promise. I need this job for Dadi and Vandita di, " I said as Mrs. Santoshi and Badi Dadi smiled and shook their head.

"Then, you're hired," Badi Dadi said as I smiled and shook their hands.

"Thank you, thank you so much!" I said smiling as they smiled while Lata frowned and gave me a look.

"Neelu, go and show Ishita the house. Ishita beta, you will start tomorrow at 6:00 A.M. sharp in the morning," Mrs. Santoshi said as I smiled and thanked them again before following Neelu out of the kitchen.

"They must like you a lot Ishita di. Badi Dadi and Mrs. Santoshi rarely like anybody. It's very rare," Neelu said as I proudly smiled at myself.

I have finally gotten a job! Yes, I finally got a job! I thought smiling to myself as I followed Neelu around the house.

We walked up the staircase to the second floor that contained a long set of hallways that all diverged to different rooms while a large living area was set on second floor as a set of three white sofas laid in the middle surrounded by a flat screen T.V.

Large windows reached up the ceiling as they showed a clear view out to the city. Wow. I thought as I followed Neelu down the hallway as Neelu pointed to me Badi Dadi's room, Mr and Mrs. Bhalla's room while Neelu also showed me Simi, the eldest daughter's, room that was now empty as Simi lived with her husband in London who ran a company on interior designing. We kept walking down the hallway and reached a large set of blue doors on the side where a young, tall girl was hugging a tall young man. They let go of each other as they looked at us embrassed.

"Sorry," The younger man said as the girl grabbed his arm and hid behind him.

"Sorry, we didn't know," The girl said as she let go of him and looked at us.

"Sorry sir and ma'am. I was showing the new maid, Ishita, the house," Neelu said as I smiled and shook their hands as they gave me a friendly smile.

"Hi, I'm Mihika and this is Romi," The girl said as she smiled and shook my hand.

"Nice to meet you both," I said.

"Mihika ma'am is getting married to Romi sir in the next two weeks, " Neelu said as I smiled and congratulated them.

"And Neelu, how many times do we tell you don't call us sir and ma'am. Please," Romi said as Mihika shook her head.

"Anyways, Ishita, I hope you don't get lost in this maze of a house. We'll be right back. Actually, I have to go and check with the wedding planner. She is driving me nuts with her ideas of the wedding planning," Mihika said sighing as she walked off with Romi.

"This family is so nice. Can anybody say they are the Bhallas who proudly own the Bhalla Research Hospitals and Bhalla Eco-Science Technological Industries," I said as Neelu agreed.

"Well, they're nice, but Raman sir is another story," Neelu said as I looked back at her curiously.

"Raman sir?" I said as Neelu shook her head and gave a scary look. Neelu and I walked down the hallways and again until we reached the complete end and went up another staircase to see a large pair of double white double doors.

"This entire floor is Raman sir's. He wants peace, quite and silence all the time," Neelu whispered as I shook my head and looked around.

"Why?" I said as Neelu opened the door as I looked in and realized the mini suite Raman sir held.

The entire room was split into five sections where in the middle a large double Kind-sized bed was that had a beautiful dark red bed sheet set across it as about twenty pillows laid royally on the bed. A large window that spread across the entire back wall looked out to the beautiful lake and mountains. The room was lightly maroon colored that diverged into a crme color as it went to a large living area where a set of three cloth sofas surrounded a coffee table and a fireplace. Another area opened to a lightly orange colored study room where a large wooden desk followed by large rows of books followed. Wow. Talk about living royalty. I thought as Neelu led me out to the other side of the room where two French doors opened out to the large balcony that contained a beautiful single swing and a set of large benches.

Another double set of wooden doors led to the bathroom or should I say a full spa that contained a large hot tub, a nice Jacuzzi and a large glass shaped shower that could easily fit twenty people.

"Wow," I said awe-struck as Neelu sighed and shook my shoulder.

"It is wow, but you have to clean it," Neelu said as I looked back at her with wide eyes.

"What? Wow, so I get to clean such a nice room,"I said happily as Neelu looked at me shocked as I smiled and sat on the side of the Jacuzzi.

"No, Ishita, don't sit or touch Raman sir's things. He hates it when somebody touches his things. You should be scared for cleaning his room," Neelu said as I raised my eyebrow and got up looking at her as I played with my dark blue scarf around my neck.

"Why?" I said as Neelu sighed.

"Raman sir hates dirtiness. In this house, every room get's assigned a maid. You are the maid for Raman sir's room. Raman sir has changed 50 maids since the last three years. He just can't seem to like any of the maids whether it's because of their hygiene, their way of not looking clean or dressed appropriately. Don't ask. Raman sir throws so many tantrums, moreover, he get's angry on the smallest things," Neelu said as I looked at her curiously.

"Really?" I said as I felt my heartbeat increase as I felt a little scared now of Raman. What if I lose my job because I don't clean his room nicely. Oh no! Oh God, please help me! I thought as I prayed silently in my head.

Neelu and I left Raman's room and walked down to get paperwork done, so I can officially become a maid for the Bhalla family along with getting my uniform and a proper employee manual that listed the Bhalla family's expectations from my role as a maid.

-Home-

"Dadi! Guess what?! I got a job!" I said smiling as I hugged dadi and twirled her wheelchair around as she held it tightly and looked up at me smiling.

"Really? You got the job at the Bhalla house?" Dadi said as I smiled and hugged her tightly.

"But, this job as a maid," Dadi said furrowing her eyebrows as I grabbed her hand and kissed it.

"Dadi, no job is bad. As long as I am getting paid and this house has food, my job is great," I said smiling as Dadi smiled and kissed my forehead.

"As you wish Ishu. I hope you get all the happiness in the world that you never got," Dadi said as I smiled and hugged her tightly.

-Day 1 at Bhalla House-

I quickly took a bite of my wrapped up aloo paratha as I neated out my black dress. The dress was loose on my shoulders and half sleeved, so I felt more uncomfortable. The dress tightened lightly around my waist and spread out a like a small umbrella to my knees. Talk about the right size Mrs. Head Housekeeper Lata. I thought as I wore a light cardigan black sweater around the dress. It is too cold in Delhi to wear this dress, but Lata had strictly ordered to wear the dress and if it was too cold then to wear a sweater around it that matched the color of the dress. I held my colorful Indian fabric bag around my shoulder as I finished my paratha and took a sip of water.

Time to start a new job. I thought as I got out of the bus and walked down the neighborhood of mansions where the Bhalla house was. The entire neighborhood was isolated from the poverty, middle-class woes and hype of the city. It felt as if this neighborhood was a mere fantasy of the person who built this neighborhood. I thought as I rang the doorbell and Lata opened the door with an unwelcoming smile as I followed her in.

I placed my bag in a small locker with other maids' lockers in the small room right next to the kitchen.

"So, first. You are to serve Raman Sir's needs and demands. You are hired as a maid mainly for him. You have clean his room, fix his breakfast and get his things ready, so he could leave work at 9:00 A.M. sharp. Raman sir is strict of time, so you have to keep on your toes and follow his orders and needs. After he leaves, fix his room, and then you will mop the entire room, and half of the second floor. Then, you will come to the kitchen and cook lunch and dinner with other maids," Lata ordered as I noted down my list of chores I was to do everyday on a small notepad as I placed it back into the small pocket of my dress along with my small cellphone.

"Go! What are you looking at?!" Lata said as I rushed into the kitchen and began fixing a mug of black coffee for Raman. I quickly took out a frying pan and started making scrambled eggs along with French toast. I looked at the time and noticed it was 6:30 A.M. I quickly placed the plates on to the serving tray and rushed up the staircase to his room.

I heaved as I placed my hair back and fixed my small side braid as I remembered Neelu's saying that Raman wanted a clean and neat maid. I heaved. I hate being so conscious and clean. This is not me. I'm the type who likes to lay in my pajamas all day and put my hair up randomly in a bun.

I sighed as I knocked on the door. I knocked the door again and got no answer. I quietly opened the door and peaked through and noticed the sound of the shower. I slowly opened the door and set the tray of breakfast on coffee table in the small living area. I sighed as I looked back at the bed and noticed the pillows all over the floor. I placed a strand of hair behind my ear as took the bed sheet and pulled it nicely across the bed as I took the pillows and began arranging them on the bed. I smiled as I fixed the bed nicely and properly.

My hands followed the large red spread as I reached up to it and moved it up to placed it across the bed. I heard a cough behind me as I stopped and turned around to notice a tall figure in front of me.

He had a strong jawline that was etched perfectly. He had long silky black hair that fell on his forehead and fell wet against his forehead. Thenmy eyes moved down and suddenly I noticed naked skin that was etched perfectly by a pair of six pack abs and muscles. My cheeks reddened as I placed my hands on my face as I quickly turned around and squeezed my eyes shut.

"Oh My God!" I exclaimed as I turned my back as I heard a mean growl behind me.

"Who are you?! How dare you enter my room?!" I heard the man exclaim as I felt my body shaking vigorously in nervousness.

"Who are you?" I questioned as I looked towards the wall in front of me.

"You're asking me! This is my room! I am Raman Kumar Bhalla!," The man exclaimed as my eyes widened as I bit my lip at my foolishness and turned slightly around as I placed my hand on the side of my eyes as I extended my left hand out for him.

"Pleasure to meet you,Ishita Naveli. I am your new maid," I said as I felt a tightly grip on my hand as Raman turned me around roughly.

Suddenly, I felt myself tripping on the pillow as I felt myself flying in the air.

"Ahhh!" I screamed as I felt my hands against cold, wet skin underneath me as I felt the wooden floor get closer and closer to me.

I closed my eyes ready for that wooden floor to hurt my forehead until I felt a large pair of arms around me as I felt a warmth of air on my face. My eyes opened slowly as I looked into a pair of dark caramel eyes swirled with mystery and charm. His eyes were a beauty that were filled with emotion. I felt my hands slowly making their way on his chest as I felt my hair fall on to his face. I felt my cheeks redden as I gulped and felt my heart beat increase faster and faster. He looked up at me and Inoticed his eyes trace my face as I felt his eyes move from my eyes and slowly down to my lips. I looked away as I pulled my hair away from his face as I placed it behind my shoulder. His gaze traced my features as I felt the cleavage of my dress pull down as I pulled it up. I noticed his face moving up closer and closer to mine's as I moved my face away, His eyes clearly on my lips. I gulped as I suddenly heard a loud knock on the door.

Raman quickly let go of my waist as I got up while Raman fixed his towel around his waist as he got up. I looked up at him as he looked back at me.

"What are you looking at? Go, get the door maid," Raman said rudely as I looked at him. Well, I have a nice boss. I thought sarcastically as I fixed my dress and opened the door to see Neelu as she smiled and handed me a "Times of India" newspaper as I thanked her and took it.

"Here's your newspaper," I said as he had now placed on a white shirt that he was buttoning as he turned around and looked at me.

"Where was it before? Why was it not on my tray before?" Raman questioned as I gulped and turned around looking at him as he threw me a glare.

"Um...sorry...I" I began before Raman slammed the bathroom door shut as I stared back at the door a little taken aback at what had just happened. I sighed as began arranging the large amount of pillows on his bed and I opened up the curtains behind his bed as I smiled and looked out at the lake.

"Enjoying the view?" I heard a voice say as I caught my breath and turned around to see Raman looking at me crossed arms as a tie swung around his neck as he was attempting to tie it.

"Close the curtains!I don't want to see the view!" Raman exclaimed as I gulped and quickly closed the curtains.

"I have a feeling you won't last long as a maid," Raman said as I gulped and stared back at my black flat shoes that were seemingly getting worn out by all the walking and hype since the morning.

"Sorry...I didn't know...Really" I began before Raman cut me off.

"No explanations. I don't have time to listen to a maid," Raman said rudely as my mouth widened. His words kind of stung my heart as I felt that the tone of his voice was trying to remind me of my status as a maid.

"Look, put all those files on the dresser in my suitcase. Do it quick," Raman ordered as I shook my head and began putting all his files in his suitcase along with his laptop.

I quickly then dragged in my cart of cleaning supplies specifically reserved for Raman's room. I felt Raman's stare at me as I took out a broom and began sweeping the floor. I knew he was checking to make sure I got every single corner of the room and I did as I knelt down and went under sofas to get every corner as I began sweeping the floor underneath the sofas in the small living area of his room

Raman sat across from me as he took a sip of his black coffee and read the newspaper while he had the T.V. on across from the fireplace. I slowly got to the sofa where Raman was sitting as I began sweeping under the sofa where Raman was sitting. I slapped my broom against his shoes as Raman yelled and looked at me.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Raman exclaimed as I bit my tongue and looked up at him.

"Sorry...actually Neelu told me you like everything neat and clean, so I'm cleaning everything," I said proudly as Raman looked at me and gave me a what-the-hell face.

"Oh really? Then stay an extra three hours," Raman said while my mouth widened in shock as Raman smirked.

"What? Why?!" I exclaimed as Raman got up and looked down at me.

" Well, you didn't bring in the newspaper at the right time and for acting too smart with me" Raman said. Too smart for Raman? What? How?

Raman rolled his eyes as he got up and grabbed his suitcase before walking out of the room while I began cleaning up his room.

Let's just say cleaning Raman's room is a huge task itself because every corner and spot had to be cleaned. I tied up my hair as I mopped the floor and organized Raman's things. I heard the door creak open as I turned around and noticed Mrs.Santoshi smiling as she walked in.

"Everything going okay?" Mrs. Santoshi asked as I smiled and shook my head.

"I hope so," I said as she smiled and looked around the room.

"Wow, this is spotless. You are really good," Mrs. Santoshi said as I smiled and placed the mop in the bucket.

"Thanks you," I said as I took a spray bottle and sprayed it on the coffee table and wiped it clean with a paper towel.

"Okay, Ishita beta, actually today we're going to a party. Raman really doesn't like parties if they are not business related, so he will come home instead. If possible, can you stay until he comes home. I was wondering if you could give him dinner before leaving," Mrs. Santoshi said as my eyes widened.

Well, I do have to stay an extra three hours, so I guess I can stay and lay out dinner for Raman. I smiled and shook by head as Mrs. Santoshi smiled and walked out.

Great, I will be seeing more of Mr. Devil Kumar today. I thought as I took a deep breath and began my cleaning again.

Evening

"Ishita beta! This dosa and rasam are so tasty!" Badi dadi exclaimed as she took a bite of dosa.

"Thank you, actually, my Dadi taught me how to cook South Indian food. Her nani was South Indian, so that'show she learned," I said smiling as Badi Dadi gave me a thumbs up and ate her food.

"Mummy ji, bas karo. You have to also attend the party today. Keep some space in your stomach too for party food," Mrs. Santoshi said as Badi dadi rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Okay, okay, then," Badi dadi said as she got up and fixed her sari.

"Okay, Ishita beta, we're going to leave now for the party. When Raman comes, you can give him dinner and leave then," Mrs. Santoshi said as I shook my head as they all walked out.

*****

"Yes, Dadi, I will be home soon. Don't worry, I am ok. Ok, just take your medicines on time and please take rest. Ok then bye," I said and I hung up the phone as I placed it in my dress pocket and stared at the clock that read 7:30 P.M. I hope Raman comes soon or else Dadi will get worried sick where I am. Dadi strongly believes Delhi is not at all safe during the night, but what can I do? I need this job badly.

I noticed a small light shining through the large front window by the door entrance. I walked towards the window and peaked through to see a large black Mercedes being parked out of which a driver got out and opened the door. I looked through and realized Raman getting out as he stumbled a little and took his briefcase before walking towards the front steps.

I quickly opened the door and looked up to see Raman as he stumbled and loosened his tie as he looked at me. I could smell fresh alcohol right out of his breath as I backed away slightly as he walked in and I shut the door.

"Here, I'll take your briefcase," I said as Raman rolled his eyes and handed me his briefcase. He stumbled as he stood and looked back at me.

"Bring me dinner up to my room idiot," Raman mumbled as I threw him a glare on his word choice as I walked towards the kitchen.

I quickly grabbed a serving tray and placed in a bowl of rice, dal, curry and chicken along with water. God, I have to pick up my speed, and get home fast. I quickly ran up the stairs and opened Raman's door where I noticed he was laying down on the sofa. He took a sip from his wine glass and had the T.V. on.

"Um...your dinner...sir," I whispered as I placed the tray in front of him on the coffee table.

Raman's eyes were blood shot red as he looked up at me. I felt his eyes trail my body up and down as I pulled my sweater in front of me and looked away. He got up as I gulped and fiddled with my fingers as I felt him walk towards me slowly as I backed away slowly. I stared at the wooden floor beneath my feet as I backed away towards the wall. My cheeks becoming red hot as I felt my heart beat increase second my second.

I noticed a playful smirk on his face as he loosened his tie and walked towards me as I felt the wall hit my back and I realized I was trapped between Raman and the wall.

I gulped as I felt my hands grasp on to the wall behind me.

"Where did Ma find you? After 50 maids, I finely get one whose a looker," Raman hissed as I felt my cheeks turn red in embarrassment as I wiped a trail of sweat off my forehead as I realized the heat in the room was getting to my body.

His hand moved forward and slowly grasped my shaky hands that were holding the wall. My hands shook vigorously as I felt a small electrical impulse on my fingers as Raman pulled my hand up and pinned me against the wall as he pressed his body against mine's. His eyes capturing every detail of my sweat, quivering face that was nave and virgin to a man's touch.

"I guess there are pretty girls like you in this city," Raman whispered as I felt him bring his face closer to me as I lowered my face in shyness as I felt him placed his rough cheek against mine's as I felt my hand automatically go up to his arm as I held it tightly and took a deep breath.

His breath, his perfume and his charming eyes were making me too weak in knees. A smirk appeared on his face as his face suddenly appeared too handsome and his jawline looked more powerful under the moonlight.

"Um...sir...I, have...to...go home," I whispered as Raman brought his face much closer to mine's as I felt his eyes land on my lips as I he placed his thumb on the corner of my lip as I quivered and looked away.

"Shhh, I know you want this as much as I do too," Raman whispered and I closed my eyes as I realized I was clearly not strong enough to push him away. Somewhere, I was longing for this too.

His face came closer towards mine's and much closer as I felt his hands shamelessly caress my waist that tightened under Raman's soft yet rough touch. I felt a small wet touch on my cheeks as I turned my face around and noticed Raman looking deeply into my eyes as he trailed his hands to my neck and placed it there as he brought his face closer to my face and I felt him softly kiss my neck as his nose tickled against my collarbone. My hand went up to his hand to stop him, but I fell into the moment as he began kissing my neck and cheeks over and over again. His lips trailed to my face as he began kissing every single part of my cheeks as his lips slowly trailed down to my jawline as he kissed it while I pushed my head back and let him more in. Then, he slowly moved his lips closer to mine's. I bit my lip as I longed for the touch of his lips on mine's.

I suddenly heard a loud ring as Raman's hands loosened on my neck as he let go of me as my eyes widened. What just happened? Oh My God! No, no,no. Raman kissed me all over my face. No, this cannot be happening. He's my boss. Raman quickly picked up his cellphone as I fixed my hair. I felt my legs shake vigorously as I felt adrenaline rushing through my body. Run Ishita. Run.

Before I knew it, I was flying out of his room and running quickly down the stairs without looking back if Raman was coming after me. I shakingly opened the locker door, took my purse and ran out of the house. My legs quickened their pace as I rushed down the neighborhood lane to the bus at the end. I noticed other maids and housing staff from other homes boarding the bus and I quickly got on too.

I took a deep breath and looked back to see the Bhalla house vanishing out of sight as the bus began going up the hill.

I still could feel his touch on my face and the smell of his strong perfume that lingered on to my dress. Oh My God. What if you done Ishu? You let your boss kiss you and you reciprocated. No, Oh My God. No! I placed my head into my face and took a deep breath as I looked ahead to the city.

Flashback Ends:

If only that day I had not reciprocated Raman and kept my distance away from him. If only I had just done my job and acted just like another maid by minding my own business. But, I did not. My personality and my nature has brought my ultimate doom. I looked up and noticed Raman looking back at me with eyes full of anger that were throwing darts at me. I looked down and stared at my dark mehendi that seemingly did not signal Raman's love, but hatred for me. The pandit continued his mantras as I stared at the agni that signified our marriage that signaled the a life of hell.
