Though it is a sidekick role, it does seem she has more backstory with being Cage's ex and all. But I still doubt she might get much out of this considering the other two sidekicks who are quite popular in America.

I don't think she might hit it off as well as PC did in the US. PC's choice of taking up a TV show first was a good one because it made her quite well known among the masses there. IMO TV has a more board viewership in comparison to movies, it will be easier for PC to transition into movies later on if she gets noticed by the right people.
