But after watching yesterday's episode I'm actually moved by the TRUE woman's empowerment and equality between the genders/leads they showed.
Honestly the CVs deserve a good word for just yesterday's episode... 👏
Yes it was cheesy & illogical with Raman taking Rohit into the meeting, but the sentiments are powerful.
Fathers are important to the family unit but not just as breadwinners. Many real women are no longer stay at home mothers - like this modern Ishita we saw today: they actually work & manage the home among many others things.
Most societies worldwide still are clinging onto the idea that women should continue managing the house despite working. Most desi shows celebrate this ever powerful woman who sacrifices & suffers for the family, who solves all the problems, who raises the kids while working, who can do anything she sets her mind to, etc, and she's always placed on a pedestal by characters for these amazing actions.
And all that is great but it's not really empowering...it places these weird shackles on women to strive for perfection.
But on Jan. 6, 2016 - YHM 3.0 channeled YHM 1.0 --> it elevated a woman by showing the importance of a man's role as a father. This episode shed light on the importance of fathers being involved with the upbringing of kids & not just leaving it to the women-folk.
It's honestly amazing what desi TV can do if they stop trying to show super women but instead show what a woman and man together can do while being flawed/real. It's not just about elevating women but it's about equality - in my personal opinion, one gender can't rise at the expense of another bc that's what has led to the men-women discrepancies we see today. In an ideal world of course, if we celebrate the good of both - we make positive progress.
Sorry for rambling but with all the YHM whining I've done - I thought it is worth it to celebrate an actual social message...and don't think I've left my job of snark/whining bc when crap YHM comes back, I'll be back! 😉 😆
