Neither of them were overrated..Am a huge Sri fan and i do think she is probably the only truly versatile mainstream actress so she totally got what she deserved..Good looking, good dancer, brilliant actress, fabulous comic timing, aces emotional scenes, had star power, always chose diverse roles, had the ability to overshadow the best of her co-stars and the only actress to have dominated down South as well as in Bollywood..I cant think of one other actress from any era who ticks all these boxes so why and how is she overrated? Coming to Madhuri, she may have failed with her multiple comebacks and the fawning on JDJ was annoying as fcuk but her craze was unparalleled..I was watching 'Deedi tera devar deewana' the other day and realized how incredibly charming she is on screen..She is not a bad actress either and looked drop dead gorgeous when she was in her peak..So again, why is she overrated? To answer your question, i don think either of them were overrated and i actually get why they were so successful 😆

We always associate her with the dance number in her film not the film itself

For example we say Sridevi was great in Lamhe or Mr India or Sadma but we say look at Madhuri in Ek do teen or didi tera dewar deewana or chane ke khet

The incredible acting she brought during dancing expression wise or ada or lipsyncing I feel was missing while she was delivering dialogs or a scene..Not that she was bad but she was not up to that level ..

In real world I have seen lot more Madhuri fan than Sri fan to be honest but everyone just equate her dancing with her acting

But then stardom is not always about acting..Atleast not in Bollywood 😆 A lot things go into making a star..The question here is 'who is more overrated?'..Not 'whose acting skill is more overrated'..And its not like Madhuri was like a Katrina and solely survived on her dancing skills/ star power..She was a decent/ good actress..Probably not as good as Sri but she was a great package..And there is something called charm and connect with the viewers..If acting was the be all and end all, Irfan will be a bigger star than SRK or Salman..I personally do think SRK is a good actor but one of the biggest factors which worked in his favor was his charm on screen..That charm is the reason why ppl would rather watch an SRK than an Irfan on screen though the later is the better actor by conventional standards..So yeah, while it may be true that Madhuri was not the best actress out there, she had the charm in abundance..And she had stellar screen presence..Add that to her above average/ decent acting skills, her grace as a dancer and that stunning face and you know why ppl were crazy about her..That is not what i would call overrated 😆
