Hey everyone! I'm back with another OS. This one is on Raman and Aditya.This concept was suggested to me by Reethika (Kras) and she wanted me to write on this. So I hope I live up to her expectations and finally here is the OS...
It was supposed to be the best day of the entire year for him. It was supposed to be the day all about him. Everyone was supposed to love and pamper him, give him gifts and celebrate him. After all it was his 14th birthday and everyone was overexcited with joy. t was a grand party since last year they didn't celebrate his birthday due to the ongoing custody battles between his parents for Ruhi. But today his family wanted to make up for that by going all out this year. But Aditya Raman Bhalla, the birthday boy himself was not happy at all.
He entered the party thrown in celebration for him and looked around seeing his family enjoying themselves. Seeing him all of them rushed towards him. Ruhi gave him a huge hug and dragged him over to where the cake was sitting waiting to be cut. The family gathered around and they all looked on lovingly as he thanked everyone for coming to the party.
"Offo Adi bhaiyya, cut the cake! I want to eat it!" His little sister exclaimed making the entire family burst into laughter. As they all calmed down, he went ahead to cut the white chocolate he had wanted. As they all fed him one by one, he noticed the one person standing away from the crowd.
There was an unknown look on his face, of fear and of love. It hurt his heart since he knew what the reason behind this distance was. He was the reason and he wanted to be the reason this distance will be closed. But it wasn't so simple. He couldn't voice out his wish and ask for this distance to disappear without a word, it was going to take much more. There were somethings in life that hurt so much that they take the longest time to heal. And today he was going to attempt to lessen some of that hurt. He came out of his thought and took a step forward to do the needed, but...
It was then his sister rushed to him handing him a gift box with a handmade card on top wishing him a happy birthday. His Ishima came next holding another gift for him and kissed his forehead wishing him very happy birthday. Next his Romi chachu and Sarika chachi came next handing him a new video game and also wished him. Next were his grandparents who handed him some money and his grandma danced with joy letting him know his favourite dishes would be served before wishing him. Next came his other set of grandparents who blessed him and handed him a gift along with tons of wishes. They were followed by his Mihika chitti, Mihir chachu, and Bala periappa & Vandita periamma. Once everyone was done gifting him his presents and wishing him, they all got back to their conversation and enjoying the party.
But he couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to smile as he got all the attention because he just wanted the happiness and attention of one person. He couldn't smile seeing his dad in the corner away from the party lost in his own distance thoughts. He wanted to see him excited like he was when they were planning this party, he wanted him to pamper him, he wanted a hug from him, he wanted his love on his special day. Aditya took a step forward to go talk to him, but he saw him quietly slip away from the party and go up to his room.
He ran behind him wondering what had gotten into him. And as he reached the doorway, he stopped seeing his dad's back turned to him. He stood there watching him go up to the closet and pull out a pile of wrapped gifts. He looked on confused when his dad placed the gifts on the bed and sat down looking through the different boxes.
"Romi and Sarika gave a video game, so leave that. Bala said he would get a watch, so I'll leave this one too. But I don't know what Mihir or Mihika got him...maybe I'll just wait until he opens all the gifts. Then he'll be really happy! He won't say anything, but I know he doesn't like getting the same gifts." He watched him sadly put away some of the boxes and put away the remaining few wiping his tears.
He looked on numb. He didn't want to believe his eyes and his ears, he wanted the sight in front of him to be a dream, a dream that would soon end.Standing at the door, he quietly let a tear fall from his eye as his heart was torn into two. One side of him wanted to go hug his dad, tell him that he didn't care for presents and all he wanted was for him to be happy with him, but the other side of him told him he had lost the right to. That he was the cause behind all of this and he couldn't do anything to make the man he once made feel miserable any better. He cried quietly along with his dad who sat on his bed as they both remembered the events that took place at his last birthday party 2 years ago.
The horrible images of his father's hurt face made his feet stop from moving into the room and all he did was run down away from everything to his own room. He closed the door and sat down on his bed defeated. Defeated by his own deeds that made his relationship with his father a complete mess.
Hiding his face with his hands, he cried thinking of what he did to the man who loved him more than himself and without any conditions or anything in return. Feeling guilty for his own father's tears and misery, he cried trying to remove the flashes of his previous birthday party and his dad's hurt face back then as well.
He only calmed down when he felt someone's soft hands running over his head lovingly. Wiping his tears as he uncovered his face, he looked up to find his mother's concerned face looking at him...
"Adi what's wrong beta?"
"Nothing Ishima."
"So now you're going to hide things from your Ishima?"
"No...Ishima, Papa...he hasn't properly wished me yet. But I-"
"Really?! Didn't he wish you at midnight? He was the one most excited as if it was his birthday." When Adi looked down sadly at the thought of how happy his dad was and how upset he was now, his mother knew something was really wrong between him and Raman.
"Raman is really too much! Ad I'm so sorry I don't know what's gotten into him, but I'll go talk to him right now."
"No! Don't! It's not his fault, I brought it on myself!"
"Adi..." She looked at her confused and hurt at the statement of the young child.
"Ishima, sometimes there are some incidents you can never forget in your life no matter how normal things get. I realized that now...the things I have done to Papa 2 years back still hurt him so much that he can't bring himself to wish me. H was crying in the room thinking whether I would like his presents or not. I have hurt him so badly that he think numerous times before doing anything for him. I actually left him no reason to be happy and celebrating this day."
"Bacha, it's not like that! Papa loves you a lot and he is very happy on today. In fact this very day 14 years back, is probably what he calls the best day of his life. He is always telling me about this day and how nervous yet excited he was. Everything, from when he heard you first cry to getting mad at the doctors to holding you in his arms, he remembers every moment of how you made him a father because he loves you so much. So don't ever think you dad doesn't love you or isn't happy today. He is very happy, but I guess he just isn't able to show it."
"And I know why. I messed everything up." She sighed seeing how such a simple and loving relationship between Raman and Aditya had become so unnecessarily overcomplicated due to the past.
"I don't know. I wasn't at that party of yours, but I suppose pleasant things didn't happen. But you know I really don't think it's really going to be hard to make up for that party, no matter what happened."
"How?"
"Your dad loves his children way too much. Any small gesture of love and he'll forget anything that has happened in the past. He is just as much of a child as you and Ruhi when it comes to such things. He just wants small things in life and anything from you will make him forget everything in the past. So now if he steps back by not wishing you and celebrating, why don't you step forward by talking to him to make him feel better?"
"I'm scared." He whispered making her shake her head at the similar nature of both father and son.
"Maybe whatever happened left your Papa is scared to show his love like he once was with Ruhi as well. So now if both of you are scared to take that one step forward, I don't know who else will!"
He looked at his mother taken aback by her statement. His dad was scared to show love, maybe like he was nervous to show his. But the last words of her sentence hit him hard. If he has hurt his dad so much that he was scared of expressing his love to him, then why was he sitting in his room crying and expecting him to be the one fixing things. Finally Aditya had made up his mind. He was the one who made their past so painful, so now he would be the one to erase those painful memories.
"I'll be right back!" He got up immediately and went out the door leaving Ishita in happy tears thinking that today, their son would make her husband even more proud of him than he already was...

"Adi come in!" He looked away wiping his tears when he saw his son knocking on the door.
"Papa why are you up here? Let's go down, that's where the party is!"
"You go ahead beta, I'm just coming."
"Make sure you wash your face really well, those red eyes will be hard to hide." He said as he sat down next to his dad. Knowing Adi had seen him cry, he tried to avoid any conversation and was about to get up when he spoke up...
"Papa, can I tell you something?"
"Go ahead."
"I saw everything Papa. I know I have done mistakes that have hurt you to no extent. You were treated so horribly by me and I honestly don't deserve to even be getting so much love and pampering like I am today. But you still did all this for me. You continue to love me as if nothing has ever happen"
"You don't have to apologize beta."
"But I want to. Saying sorry to you will help me Papa. I don't want to continue being the reason you cry on such days and stay upset whenever something is related to me. I don't want that anymore. I want to be like that fat little Adi who didn't have to think twice before talking to you or doing anything with you. And maybe just maybe my apology will help you move on from our past. Maybe my sorry can lessen some of you pain. And if that's the case, then I will apologize as many times as I need to so you won't be upset anymore."
Raman looked on silently with tears in his eyes. His son had matured way more than his age thanks to him and his ex-wife's ongoing wars, and he never liked it. He wanted his child to live hid childhood while he still had the chance. But today he felt proud of his mature behaviour. Seeing his son understanding a relationship such as their own made him want to tell everyone how much his son had grown from the boy he was 2 years, or even a year back.
On the other hand, Aditya took his dad's silence as the chance to apologize for everything he had done till now...
"I'm very sorry Dad for every single thing I have done to you and for every action of mines that hurt you till today. I am so sorry! Please forgive me! I promise you I will never hurt you or anyone from our family again! I will continue changing myself Papa! Just forgive me!"
"No, I won't forgive you...until you answer my questions." Raman declared sternly.
"What questions?" Aditya wiped his tears wondering what his dad wanted him to do.
"Let's see if you really changed and began to love me and this family. If you have, you should know things about us, right?"
"I do!"
"Ruhi's favourite color?" A faint smile appeared on Aditya and Raman's faces as he asked his first question.
"Pink!"
"Ishima's favourite food?" Raman pretended to be stern once again.
"Palak Paneer."
"Dadu's favourite pastime?" He asked seriously.
"Watching the news or society work."
"What is the one thing Ruhi and your Ishima argue about?"
"Makeup!" Aditya had a full smile on his face by now knowing his mother was right. His dad didn't need anything big to forget the past. All he needed was one talk and one apology.
"Hmmm, so know let's see if you really know me...my favourite color?"
"Blue."
"What is the first thing I do when I come home?"
"Look for Ishima." His son giggled while Raman looked away hiding his smile and blushing face.
"Since when have I loved you?"
"When I was just a few grams and you first saw me in the ultrasound." They both had tiny tears in their eyes remembering Raman's words to him when he was a child.
"What was our favourite thing to do when you were young and lived with me?"
"Go to the park and then sneak away from Mom to eat Golgappas." They both laughed through their tears remembering the things they used to do years back.
"How many times did Papa come to visit you when you lived with those two?"
"3-4 times before I did that accident. After that many times that I lost count."
"So how much does Papa love you?"
"More than any parent can love their child!"
"So how much do you love me?" Raman was on the verge of crying and it reflected in his son's state
"Just as much as you love me!" He pulled his son into a hug unable to express his happiness on those few words from his son's mouth. These few words worked wonders making him forget what he had been crying about minutes back and all he had been through in his last birthday party. While Aditya knew this was all that he needed to do to make his dad's pain less than what it was. His father's happiness was visible in his hug and he hugged him back tightly expressing his happiness over realizing he had gotten the forgiveness he wanted.
Parting back from the hug, they both looked away wiping their eyes and when they looked back at each other...
"Something went into my eye!" They both said at the same time and burst out laughing at each other while another pair of moist eyes also joined in the laughter seeing her son and husband's happiness...
