I think the core values Ram and Sita had have been shown properly.I don't think its wrong to interpret Ramayan in a different way than what has been shown before.Take Mahabharata for instance and the way draupadi was shown in the latest version was much more fierce and believable. With changing times we need to change.😊

Pretty sure there are many other shows on TV which might be to your liking. Why watch this if its not to your taste?

Draupadi in Starbharat was actually shown pretty accurately, except towards the end when she became a crybaby. CVs didn't really change her character much, though they distorted the story in other ways. At least, the characterization was intact. Also, there is a difference between interpretation and completely changing the story. An interpretation is when we view the emotions and thoughts of a character differently, which is acceptable to an extent, but it's not possible to interpret something to such an extent that the entire story is changed. That's not interpretation. That's a distortion.I totally do not agree with the concept that with changing times, we need to change our epics. Will Christians change their bible to suit changing times? Will Muslims change the Quran to suit changing times? So why do we Hindus have to change our epics, which are an integral part of our scriptures, to "suit changing times"? Ramayan itself is a storehouse of virtue. People can learn a lot from it even today, just the way it is. It doesn't need to be changed.
I am saying that we need to change the way we interpret our epics. Many things like caste discrimination, sati practice come from the epics. We all agree these things need to be discarded.Ramayan from Sita's viewpoint is bound to be different from Valmki Ramayan because Sita hardly spoke in the original epic. The show is mainly taken from Devdutt Pattnaik's Sita: a retelling of Ramayan and so far they have followed everything from the book and plus I don't think they have changed anything significant or deviated greatly from the original story.

Umm...no, thank you. I am very happy with the epic as it is, and if people are able to follow even 5% of the ideals taught in the epic, life would be so much happier for everyone. I don't need any modern sensationalism to taint an epic that is already pure in its nature. You should read Valmiki Ramayan before commenting on Sita's role in it. She is in no way a secondary character, as I have mentioned many times before. She has many dialogues throughout the book, and she is as central to the storyline as Ram is. As for Devdutt Pattnaik's Sita, it's a fictional book and he even makes a note in the beginning that what he's writing is a fictional interpretation of the epic, and I know the show is follow that book almost word for word, so that makes it a fictional retelling also, does it not?And if you think this story has not deviated from the original story, maybe it's time you reread the original story. It's available in many places if you're interested.
