Welcome

This is a thread where we will talk about different versions of Ramayana and interesting titbits from them. Please use books or internet material as source and mention source/reference when sharing stories/information here.

This is a place to share and enrich ourselves with the beauty of this eternal story and study/appreciate the differences between the versions.

Strictly no bashing, personal attacks or comparison with other shows based on Ramayana. This is not the place to criticise or talk negatively about the show or writers or CVs or its content/story, we have rest of the forum available for that

If you would like to be added to the member list then "Like" this post and your name would be added. This is not necessary for participation. Everyone is welcome.

Last, but not the least, thank you Shruti for giving permission to open this thread.

PS - I have checked last few pages and haven't found a similar thread, if there exist any then please let me know I will close this one.

Friends, Sorry had some personal problems so this thread became dead. This is now an open place, please feel free to continue with or without me. Idea is to share many different stories (even folk stories) related to Ramayan.
Since I just read a comment about Mandavi favouring Ram, I will start with Kavita Kane's Sita's Sisters. Mandate is a character drawn towards power and hence she is favouring Raavan. He is not just powerful, he is also ruler and had that aggressive aura. This trait will make Mandavi unhappy in marriage because at first Bharat has no hope of ever becoming a King and later when he has a chance to do so, he will refuse and live as a hermit. This will also create rift between Mandavi and rest three sisters.

While on one hand, we can argue that these are not part of "Original" story, I think these bits adds to the characters otherwise rest three sisters don't have much going in for them.

Interestingly other than Shrutkirti, no other sister enjoyed a peaceful married life!

sorry dear I don't think real mandavi was ever after power , in fact she was support 2 bharat during exile period. about kavita Kane book , I read some chapters but I dint find that mandavi was unhappy with her marriage , can u mention d chapter in which it was mentioned, may be I missed.
I know what bad light they r portraying mandavi, if they show after marriage mandavi running after power , or critize bharat then it will totally wrong. when bharat lived as hermit , mandavi 2 join him. leaving urmila, rest 3 sisters were very much with their husbands during 14yrs.
bharat had many qualities in him , he was a gem of person , one of his quality had been shown painting.
acc 2 book among d 4 girls , kaikayee will like urmila d most coz she was real princess of mithila , did had a fierce personality in compare 2 her sisters , with her kaikayee 2 connect herself.
