One wedding and many rumours- Rani

Now, the media has gone on and declared a date of their wedding which is supposedly February 10. While the speculation is hotting up, a lot has happened in between.

When the rumours initially began, hell broke loose in the Mukherjee family. Apparently they were appalled by the rumours. After all, Rani was being called a home breaker! Though Rani kept mum, her mother spoke out. "We do not know what is going on in Aditya Chopra's house — it's completely their problem. We have nothing to do with it. How can they insinuate that Rani is involved in this? Why are they playing with her personal life?" she asked.

The story went that Aditya Chopra was going through a divorce with his wife Payal and the reason for the break-up was Rani. Even Rani's close friend came in to defend, but Rani didn't speak. "Rani is not a home-breaker! She is not dating Aditya Chopra. If Adi is having some problem in his married life that's his problem, not Rani's. They are working together in many projects. I think one should end this story here and not read too much into this," he said.

Rani did say that she was very close friends and nothing beyond that when rumours of the engagement first began. But she hasn't said a word after that. If all the talks of her presence in Adi's life and her several wedding dates are false, then why isn't the actress coming out with the truth?

According to a source, it could be because she is in a powerful situation if she is linked to Adi who is the topmost producer of India and owns the most powerful production house in the country. She has been known to complain to Adi in case of situations that are unfavourable to her, and Adi has more than once stepped to solve her problems with directors. Her close relationship with Yash Raj camp has helped her get plum roles and be in a situation where people can't mess with her. If she clears all the air she may be stripped of her power to an extent.

Reports saying she is getting married on February 10 are being dismissed now since she is going to be busy shooting for Kunal Kohli's film at that time. "But that's ok. They'll announce a fresh date on Rani's behalf. By now she's gotten used to being engaged, married or whatever with Mr. Aditya Chopra," said a source close to Rani.

Rani is both amused and horrified by these renewed suggestions that she will be getting married on February 10 though. She was even heard joking to a friend saying, "Wow I'm supposed to be getting married at Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur. Wish I was that rich." And there is another section which says that Rani doesn't like speaking about her personal life and so she isn't bothered about the rumours anymore. "She denied the engagement. So did people who were supposed to be present at the ceremony. They still insisted Rani was engaged. Rani has denied the marriage, but only because she had to come out to promote her film. Now she'll keep mum until her next film releases," says the source.

Well, if you ask me, Rani's impending marriage to Aditya Chopra has become one cold story by now. Since nothing has happened between the two to suggest that they are together for the past one year!

On Rani's demand

RANI MUKERJI is definitely the toast of the season. After her brief hiatus, she's been talked about for her comeback of sorts in Pradeep Sarker's Laga Chunari Mein Daag. But what not too many know is that Rani and her family paid a quick visit to the Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi recently.

Incidentally, Rani's film hit theatres a couple of days after her visit to the holy city. So, was it a prayer for the film's success considering her previous stints on celluloid, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Babul didn't exactly set the cash registers ringing? I am extremely anxious as to how the janta would react to my film.

I am dying to know their feedback, is what Rani had exclaimed not so long ago. A source close to Rani says, Yes, Rani and her family had made a short trip to Shirdi. Rani hails from a very traditional middle-class Bengali family. They are extremely religious people and pay frequent visits to temples off and on. Before Shirdi, her family also visited the ghats of Ganga and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, where Rani was shooting for LCMD earlier this year.

And now she's celebrating Durga Puja with her family after a gap of five-six years. She's quite excited that she's attended the festivities after a long time. An eyewitness in Shirdi says, We came here for Baba's blessings, but never did we imagine we'll get to see our favourite star in Shirdi. So we're certainly going back with more than what we had in mind. Rani was accompanied by her security personnel throughout her stay at Shirdi adds the source.
