Honestly I would have to watch the film in order to comment on the script and or storyline. But, Imtiaz is an out of the box director, so when people say that the film is weak, and dark etc...I JUST THINK THEY don't appreciate every kind of film. Each to his own, not trying to offend anyone. BUt I think that Deepika and Ranbir are marvelous actors, and yes currently Deepika does have an equivalent if not higher fan following than Ranbir, he had a couple flops in a row...but this movie was GOOD for him, I'm assuming. Also it takes two great leads to fulfill a script that requires performance. That being said, Imtiaz Ali wrote highway, which I believed to be one of the most phenomenal films of 2015, and didn't get the credit it deserved. Who were the actors? Randeep and Alia, people we would have never assumed would have worked together, and people who we never thought would give this kind of Strong, memorable performance. I already know that Im going to love the movie before I watch it, because I know Imtiaz Ali's content speaks to me. Would the movie have done well without Deepika? Yes and NO. I honestly think about two years ago any actress with Ranbir would have done the same numbers, same response etc (THIS IS Commercially speaking, by no means am I discrediting Deepika's abilities or fan following). But people like Ranbir and Deepika's jodi and Ranbir hasnt had a hit in long, so naturally its harder to pull in audiences just on his own shoulders. He's not a Khan or Hrithik just yet...Id like him to be because he is a phenomenal actor, but having a lead like Deepika along with him it does Help. She is not a KHAN, but she's hell of a popular. I like Ranbir, and yes I AM A RANVEER FAN. But I like Ranbir, and YJHD is one of my all time favorite movies. I appreciate films, actors, and cinema. Im glad movies like Tamasha are out there for people like me, regardless of who the actors are .
