I think the problem with cinematic liberties in such historic films is that if facts are diluted in the film, the audience believes that while watching the film. I have not read much about Bajirao and did not even hear about Kashibai, so if i hadn't read different facts about Kashibai here, I wouldn't even know she couldn't dance and would rather believe what Pinga is showing.
One cannot take cinematic liberties and dilute facts. If Kashibai can't dance, why include such a dance sequence at the first place just to give a contemporary version of Dola Re?
I just came to know a few days back while visiting Shaniwarwada that Mastani wasn't even allowed inside the main palace and she stayed in a completely different place inside the fort and here we see Mastani dancing while Kashibai is watching and then Kashibai and Mastani dancing together. And that too from a director like SLB-So overrated for his 'detailing', 'authenticity ' and shit.
That is why Bollywood should stay away from such films and rather make biopics. Atleast there will be someone alive to oppose if the biopic shows something wrong.
