Diwali holiday is not the same as Eid or Xmas. In Hindu majority India most Indians are free on those two days. Plus Eid onwards Muslims especially love to watch movies after a month of hardship. Thus more people are available with free time to spend on Eid or Xmas. On Diwali more people are busy with festivities. But having said that most of the Diwali releases were shit. SRK has delivered his ATBBs like DDLJ, KKHH in the past during Diwali. If I am not wrong so Salman in the 1990s.

These are the movies that have propelled the X-mas release date. Ghajni too.

Don 2 and Dabang 2 didn't get anywhere near those three. They failed in that aspect and the reason is clear why.

Also I think X-mas is only good if your movie is good/great. Not just in BW but worldwide. If it doesn't trend you are in deep trouble. WOM must be excellent if a movie is to sustain at X-mas.

A movie like PRDP will be eaten alive if it came on X-mas. It will have no holidays in the beginning so that means no 40 crore openings. No extended weekend.

It will have crashed on Monday and wouldn't have done even 100 crores by then let alone the 130 it made on Diwali. Same for HNY.

Its no surprise that no one gave two hoots about X-mas and neither did it hold any records before Aamir can with 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and PK.

That's because the Diwali releases were really bad films. Krrish 3, HNY, PRDP. Stuff I wouldn't watch if i knew I was going to get a Babaji ka thullu. 😆

That's bcoz the content of the recent diwali releases were not good...
