Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to open her film Sarabjit in Cannes

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will start shooting for next film Sarabjit from November 20 in Patiala. The film is a biopic on Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur, who fought for many years to get her brother back to India from Pakistan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Dalbir Kaur and Randeep Hooda will be seen donning Sarabjit's role.

As per reports, "The film will be shot in various locations in Punjab including Chandigarh. The makers are planning to complete the shooting as soon as possible as they want the film to open at the Cannes Film Festival, where Ash makes an appearance every year.

Since the festival takes place in April-May, they want to complete the film before that. The makers are hoping that Cannes will create huge buzz for the film.

Richa Chadda walks out of Sarabjit Singh biopic?

Not long ago, it was being said that Richa Chaddaw as signed to play Sarabjit Singh's wife in a biopic about his life. However, it's now emerged that the actress has walked out of the project.

Talking to Mid-Day, a source said, "Richa has opted out of the project due to creative differences with the makers. They had several rounds of discussion over how her character should be fleshed out, but they were just not on the same page. That's why she decided to bow out. The makers are trying to figure out a replacement for her. Aditi Rao Hydari's name has come up in their discussion".

On the other hand, director Omung Kumar denies the news, "It isn't true. You will get to know the truth when I start shooting in 10 days".

Another source close to the film also revealed, "Richa has indeed walked out of the projects, but the makers are not looking at replacing her. They are, in fact, trying to woo her back. There is no change in the rest of the star cast and the film will go on floors early next month".

Randeep Hooda is signed to play Singh and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen as his sister, Dalbir Kaur.

Darshan Kumar will share screen space with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Omung Kumar's biopic on Sarabjit Singh.

He was earlier seen with Priyanka Chopra in Mary Kom (2014) and with Anushka Sharma in NH10 this year. In the biopic, the actor essays the role of Khalid Pervaiz, a Pakistani lawyer, who left no stone unturned to get justice for Sarabjit. From PC to Anushka and now Ash, Darshan seems to be on a roll with leading actresses as co-stars.

Director Omung Kumar's upcoming biopic Sarbjit, has been in the news ever since its announcement. The film, which is currently in it's the second schedule, has Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles. While recently the news of Randeep impressing Omung with his dedication was going the rounds, we hear there is someone who impressed Mr Hooda too? Any Guesses?

Well, it's none other than his co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Aishwarya is essaying the role of reel-life sister of Randeep, the character of Dalbir Kaur. And a source from the sets informed that Randeep is highly impressed by her co-star Aishwarya's dedication and professionalism! The source further added that one has also overheard Mr Hooda talking to Omung about how he finds it a privilege to work with such an artist who is so passionate to her craft.

Hmmm...Looks like Aishwarya definitely has the charisma to make people enamoured with her persona. Even Randeep couldn't escape her charm!

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is elated at the positive response for her de-glam look in her upcoming film "Sarbjit" has received.

The biopic on Indian convict Sarabjit Singh, who was beaten to death in a Pakistani jail, is being helmed by "Mary Kom" director Omung Kumar.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is playing Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur, while Randeep Hooda will be seen in the titular role. The shooting began this week in Mumbai. A picture from the set showed Aishwarya dressed as an aged woman, wearing spectacles. (Ex-flames Aishwarya, Salman at Stardust Awards)

Sarbjit' is produced by Sandeep Singh, Kumar and Vashu Bhagnani. The film is slated to release on May 20, 2016.

Aishwarya will do traditional Punjabi folk dance in 'Sarbjit'

In her comeback film, Jazbaa, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played a no-nonsense lawyer. There was no room for a song and dance. However, in her next film, Sarbjit; she plays a village girl in Punjab and song-and-dance is as much part of their life, as it is for a Hindi film.

The first song in Sarbjit is being shot in Mumbai next week at a set in Film City. The song, 'Tuglak Tuglak Tun' is an energetic bhangra song, similar to the 'Nagada Nagada' from Jab We Met.

Sarbjit is a biopic based on the life of the Indian villager who unwittingly crossed from Punjab into Pakistani and was arrested. While human right activists fought to free him and bring him home, he died in a Pakistan prison. One expected it to be a serious film.

Director Omung Kumar has a different take on it. He explains, "Sarbjit is a biopic but made in a different way. All biopics don't have to be sad. Sarbjit's story spans over 23 years. Before he disappeared, his life was full of fun and festivity. Then a drastic change happens, but a festive song was always meant to happen to show the contrast between then and now. While the seriousness has to be there, I am not making a boring film. I want people to cry, laugh and go through all the emotions. Twenty-three years is a long time. I do everything in films larger-than-life so even my way of showing Punjab will be bigger. This song is a full-on Punjabi dhamaal number."

Choreographed by Vishnu Deva, best known for Shahid Kapoor's 'Gandi Baat' in R...Rajkumar and PC's 'Ram Chahe Leela' in Ram-Leela, the song features Richa Chadda and Randeep Hooda matching steps with Ash.
