Actor Anupam Kher, who is set to lead an anti awardwapsi' protest at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday, has come out strongly in support of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Kher's comments come after party members of the BJP asked SRK to go to Pakistan if he isn't happy in India.

"Some members of the BJP really need to control their tongue & stop talking rubbish about @iamsrk. He is a national icon & We r PROUD of him." he said in a tweet.

The actor went on to add that there are bad elements' in every party and the Prime Minister cannot be judged on what a few people say.

"In every party there are some bad elements. We can't judge our PM or his intentions using that yard stick."

One of the biggest supporters of the PM, Anupam had also come out strongly in support of the PM "I love PM Modi and I think he is the biggest thing that has happened to modern India politics"

Anupam Kher has shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in several films, including their most famous father-son chemistry in Aditya Chopra's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

SRK also didnt speak up for Kashmiri Pandits. Why is Anupam Kher supporting him?

Usse zyaada Man boobs wala Criminal rota hai aut migrating ki baat jahan tak hai..He gave aclean chit to Pakistan in mumbai attacks in an interview to Pakistani channel...

I agree celebs should not be put on a pedestal, bu my in case of SRK from where he was and where he is now is quite admirable and someone to look up to,kinda iconic although some of his qualities are a put off.

All these people are hypocrites.

Anupam Kher's breaking point of intolerance is when the crazy nut jobs associated with his favorite party and PM speak ill of SRK. He could criticize and lash out on others who spoke up, without bothering to acknowledge that indeed there is some truth to people's increasing worries and criticisms. But of course with this latest development, it came the time to 1) do damage control and 2) defend the PM and gov't and say distance the 'fringe' elements from the PM's and party's image.
