Says he wants to work with directors who will help him grow as an actor
There is no slowing down the king of Bollywood. Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who celebrated his 50th birthday at a city hotel on Monday, said he wanted to do "three movies per year for the next five years."
There was live-entertainment during the event in the form of stand-up comedy, music, and a dance performance based on a medley of the Bollywood Badshah's hit songs.
Speaking about the change in Indian cinema in his 25 years in the industry, King Khan said: "The language of film has changed, I started in the 90s and I want to work with people who can help me change. I would like to work with filmmakers who will teach me and make me speak in a new language as an actor. I am ready to be pushed now at 50."
Surprisingly, there was no elaborate party organised to celebrate King Khan's birthday. Instead, SRK chose to spend time with his family and said he wanted to finish his work first.
"I have to go to Goa for my shoot tomorrow, I have three more days on Dilwale and if I decided to throw a party then it would turn into a massive event, I want to finish work and then celebrate."
The teaser of his next film, Fan, has been receiving rave reviews. "It is one of the most challenging roles I have had to essay. The people behind the film told me that they wanted to join films after they saw me in films. To me Fan is the most special film I have done till date and it's one of those films that I am not sure if I done it right or wrong as an actor and that is what makes it special. I always knew that I want to make at least 5 films that I can show my children and feel proud about. Fan is definitely one of them."
Talking about the lack of professional film-making institutes, he said: "One of my dream projects is to create an institution where I can have youngsters come and learn professional acting, the technique of acting, the different styles of acting. I think in India we have two shortcomings we have in film-making is screenplay writing and a proper acting school like Lee Strasberg or a Stella Adler."
