TV show 'Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do' is set to blow the cover off its male lead Ishaan (Iqbal Khan), who seemingly leads a perfect life with Preet (Mona Singh). Viewers will be in for a shock when Ishaan's real identity is revealed to be that of Rizwan, a spy for one of India's neighbouring countries.

The show is an attempt to break stereotypes of the quintessential male lead on Indian television till now. Says producer Ekta Kapoor, "This is a radical show, where a woman after a few years into her marriage discovers that her man is an undercover agent from a neighbouring country. I wanted to bring out a concept which deals with religion and nationality issues. At the same time, I didn't want to make a docudrama as people think it to be preachy. You touch hearts only when you make it fun and entertaining and seep the issue slowly and smartly."

But is the audience ready to fall in love with an anti-hero? "Everyone comes with a psychology," says Ekta adding, "Such shows make you question your sense of security, nationality, patriotism, and somewhere, the fact that you could be living a whole lie. We don't know if the audience will accept them or not. But we would never know that till we experiment."

What message is she trying to impart with a subject as risky? "It's not a message, but a question that I am asking. What if you fell madly in love with a man and years later discovered that he is probably not the one you thought he was?"She was certain about the actors to play Ishaan and Preet.

She says, "I wanted a Kashmiri Punjabi-looking man and Iqbal fits the bill perfectly. He is good-looking, lights up the screen and makes every scene look amazingly delicious. I was definite about casting a good actor to play the multilayered character of Ishaan."

Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do airs Monday to Friday at 9pm on Sony Entertainment Television.

I like Ishaan's character in the show and Iqbal is doing a perfect job.. Though he may be a terrorist, seems to be a good hearted person.. so that's what matters..

I like the character of Ishaan/Rizwan. He has been given a back story and we know why he is what he is today. Why he feels the need to revenge. I had tears in my eyes watching his memories of his parents death. Iqbal was really good in that scene where his eyes were filled with tears with his memories. Also the scene in the morgue where he is given Kavya and he says he wants revenge from neighbouring nation not from this child and he knows the pain of being an orphan, I felt very touched and sad.

Also the scene when he tells Sana that he dies everyday betraying Preet and he feels bad. He also feels bad that he has to lie to Hooda family whom he cares for. So we can see it's not that simple. He has a mission, but he also has a heart. This anti hero story is actually very good. Just loving it and loving the layered characterisation of Rizwan. Also, I felt there was a clue in the breakfast table conversation when Niti said that this house has "two terrorists".(referring to her kids). What if the other one is Preet? I know it sounds crazy, but stranger things have happened! What if she is an extremist too? A similar tragedy happened to her as what happened to Rizwan. So what if she is a radical as well? Have to wonder about it!
