When crisp direction of Sultana Siddique, heart-hitting story of Umera Ahmed, heartthrob Fawad Khan with his versatility, Sanam Saeed with her convincing portrayal, creative touch-ups of Momina Duraid, soulful OST by Hadiqa Kiyani and a strong supporting cast come together...
we get a Zindagi Gulzar Hai which happens only once in a lifetime...

Coming from across the border, the Pakistani show struck a chord with its zeal and youthful romance between the lead characters - Zaroon Junaid and Kashaf Murtaza - who hated each other but eventually fall in love. A heart-warming story, it highlighted the intricacies of life. The show was instantly appreciated for its realistic approach and finite number of episodes. The show was a huge-hit in Pakistan.

Mona Singh (Indian TV Actress)
It's such a pleasant change. Short stories which feel closer to life...bye bye unending dramas. All the best!

Jaaved Jafferi (Known comedian)
Man, got hooked and watched 3 serials in a row... I think this channel with its content will be serious threat to all soapers.

Divya Dutta (Bollywood Actress)
Loving the serials! Refreshing, crisp n tat beautiful Urdu...Nice!

Richa Chadha (Yet another BW actress)
This new channel is so refreshing. Better aesthetic, dialogue, performances...

Ravi Dubey (Indian TV Actor)
Kudos... What amazing shows, fabulous content really brings back old days the very essence of television.

Subhash Ghai (Famous Film director and producer)
#ZINDAGIat #zeedraws my attention for intersting plays with real people with real homes than our serials full of make up n made up twists..

and many more...

This is how we Indians reacted when Zindagi Gulzar Hai was aired for the first time...!! As quoted by a famous news tabloid, "A breathe of fresh air !", Zindagi Gulzar Hai remains the highest rated Pakistani drama in India followed by Humsafar.
Within a time span of nearly one and a half year of Zee Zindagi's launch, this show has been aired for a total of 5 times and people are still demanding a re-run!
We are crazy, aren't we? 😉

The story revolves around the lives of Kashaf Murtaza and Zaroon Junaid , who are poles apart. Kashaf comes from a lower middle-class family and lives with her mother Rafia and her two sisters, Sidra and Shaniela. Rafia had separated from her husband, Murtaza, because she could not give him a hier. As a result, he married another woman Nigar, who did eventually give birth to his son Hammaad.

Rafia works as the principal of a government school, and also gives tuitions, along with her daughters, during the evenings to support the family's meagre income. Kashaf, her eldest daughter, has turned very bitter due to everyday struggles and betrayal of her father.

"Humari zindagi mein aane wale maslo ki wajah aur koi nahi mera apna baap hai..."

"Rupiya paisa ek taraf... kabhi hausla afzai ka ek lafz bhi nahi kaha unhone...aur aap hume unki mohabbat ke kisse suna rahi hai..."shows how much hurt and disgust she had for him.

She has always supported her mother like a son. She is exceptionally intelligent and gets admission in one the biggest university of Karachi on merit basis.

On the other hand, Zaroon's family consists of his laid-back and patient father, an independent working mother, and his sister Sara, who has the same qualities as her mother. Zaroon's circle of friends consists of Asmara and Osama. He is a charmer with his oh-so-flirtatious nature. He too gets into the same university as Kashaf.

On the first day itself, both Zaroon and Kashaf get into an argument which goes on increasing with passing days. Both of them hate each other to core and we see them mentioning the same in their diary entries as well. For Zaroon, Kashaf is an irritating egoistic woman while for Kashaf, Zaroon is nothing short of bade baap ki bigdi hui aulaad !

After Maria, it is Osama with whom we see Kashaf getting along with and at many instances we find Zaroon and Asmara teasing him regarding that.

One day, while having a friendly chat with Maria, she comments,

" Maine kabhi bhi Kashaf se Zaroon ke liye koi achhi baat nahi suni... Aur woh isliye nahi ke Zaroon usse lift nahi karata.. I feel agar woh usse lift de bhi toh bhi Kashaf won't give a damn about him ! "

This hurts his male ego, and he is now determined to woo her and prove his mantle to Maria. He sees it as an easy task and qoutes, "Sawal Yeh nahi hai ki woh impress hogi yaa nahi...sawal Yeh hai ki usse kitna time lagega meri taraf attract hone mein.. Chand din, hafte yaa mahine !" Kashaf is taken back by sudden change in his behavior and we witness some light hearted conversations among the two. Zaroon counts them in a step towards his motive while for Kashaf it is nothing but a relief from khamakha ki tension. Asmara too doubts his intentions and confronts him to which replies, "Tum toh janti ho main pakka flirt hu!" *wink*

But the act doesn't lasts long, as Kashaf overhears his conversation with Asmara and Osama in which he accepts that he is just flirting with her. "Kashaf jaisi ladkiyaan dil lagane ke liye nahi hoti !" Kashaf takes it as an insult and confronts him that every moment. They have harsh face off. Things take an ugly turn when Zaroon is about to hit her but Osama comes in between and pacifies them. The audacity with which Kashaf confronts him proves that she is different from other girls.

Meanwhile the talks are on for Zaroon and Asmara's wedding. Zaroon who was avoiding it from a while agrees on a condition that he won't marry for at least 2 years. Zaroon and Asmara get engaged in a grand ceremony.

While Zaroon is preparing for CSS exams, Kashaf takes up a job to help her mother with Sidra's wedding. Next year, Kashaf too appears for the CSS exam and qualifies with flying colours. She is now posted as deputy commissioner in Badin.

Rafia is now paid back of all her hard work with three of her daughters well settled in their lives.

"Mere toh din he phir gaye ! " exclaims Rafia. With this we also get an insight of how society changes their attitude towards people once they detested. Like we see Murtaza trying to improve his relations with his daughters which doesn't go well with three of them. We find Kashaf saying once,

"Humne udna sikh liya hai... abb unke pakho ki koi zaroorat nahi hai... abbu se kahein ki woh abb bhi utne he indifferent rahein jitne pehle the.."

But things are not well at Zaroon's end. We see both Zaroon and Asmara struggling with each other. Their opinion conflicts are pretty much visible. From Zaroon's view, Asmara is way too liberal and over-frank with her male friends. When he point outs his dislikes regarding the same, she calls him chauvinist and conservative! At the same time, Sara's marriage is on the verge of breaking, reason being the same as Zaroon and Asmara's conflicts. This fuels up the things furthermore. Once while talking to Osama about his issues with Asmara, Osama asks him to quote an example who is somewhere near to his ideal. Zaroon after thinking a while replies, "Kashaf!"to which Osama point outs about Kashaf still being in his subconscious. Later Zaroon too thinks about the same, as he quotes

"Kya na pasandeeda hone ke bawajood woh ladki uss ideal ke bahout close hai jisse main pasand karta hu ??"

A leap is observed...

Zaroon and Kashaf comes face to face at professional front. Over there they exchange their numbers on Zaroon's insistence. Once again, Zaroon's attempts at friendship are repeatedly turned down, as Kashaf believes him to be the same flirtatious and irresponsible person as before. Also Zaroon is surprised to know about Kashaf and Osama still in touch with each other. Osama proposes to Kashaf, who in turn rejects his proposal saying that she has no plans to get married anytime soon.

While in Zaroon's family, Sara is divorced now! But she is in deep depression. Everyone is worried for her. Counselling sessions are on.. Gazala and Junaid tries to distract her... but nothing is helping! We see a different Sara now... a quiet and depressed one who much like her brother point outs flaws in their upbringing.

Later Zaroon talks to Sir Abrar, who is a mentor to Kashaf and Zaroon's close family friend. Zaroon confesses to him that he wants to marry Kashaf and asks him to talk to Kashaf on his behalf. To say Abrar is shocked would be an understatement. He quotes,

"Tum aur Kashaf...? Tum dono ko saath mein sochne ke liye bhi mujhe zehmat karni padh rahi hai.."

On being questioned about why this sudden decision to marry and specifically Kashaf, Zaroon says, "I like Kashaf's strength of character!"

After initially rejecting his proposal, the two agree to meet at Sir Abrar's house, where Zaroon pours his heart out to her. Kashaf is still not sure about him but when he saves her from getting scalded by hot tea, she agrees to marry him.

"Ek chai ka cup tha jo mere haath par girne wala tha magar usne bacha liya... aaj zindagi mein pehli dafakoi meri shield bana hai!"

Both the families grants their consent for the marriage and they get engaged in a simple and sober ceremony. Osama when receives the news of Zashaf's engagement is shocked ! Eventually they get married in a lavish wedding. A new phase of life begins for both of them as husband and wife. They utilize their honeymoon phase of marriage to build a better understanding and compatibility! Kashaf for the first time realizes how it feels to be loved and wanted. All the little things he does for her and her happiness touches her heart. After marriage, they discover a completely different side of each-other. Like Zaroon realizes that beneath her hard outer-appearance lies a sensitive Kashaf who craves for love and attention and Kashaf realizes that there is much more to him than just being a flirt. Slowly and steadily, she too starts to fall for him but is inexpressive of her feelings. She quotes..

"Aur usse nafrat karne ke kaabil ab main rahi nahi...tum mujh se puchhte ho ki mujhe tumhari kaunsi baat pasand hai.. main yeh tumse kaise kahun ki mujhe tumhari kaunsi baat nahi pasand..?!"

Although Kashaf faces some problems with Gazala because of the class difference but with Rafia's advices she soon overcomes that issue victoriously!

Later Zaroon and Kashaf have a fight as he comes to know about Osama's proposal. For that they don't talk to each other for weeks. Kashaf thinks that he insulted her by doubting her character while Zaroon is angry that she didn't told him beforehand. Kashaf tries to seek help from Sir Abrar regarding the issue which only worsens the already ugly situation. Meanwhile Sara is all set for second marriage. Zaroon and Kashaf helps the family in wedding preparations where Gazala praises Kashaf for being a dutiful daughter-in-law !

After all the wedding chaos, Kashaf brings in another good news... she's pregnant. They finally reconcile and prepares for parenthood. Soon, Kashaf's insecurities begin to surface again. Despite of knowing the fact that Zaroon and his family don't believe in gender discrimination she couldn't help but think what if Zaroon turns out like her father. She tries to raise this topic many times but couldn't as she feared his answer. One day, she finally with all her courage asks him what would be his reaction if they were blessed with twin daughters. Zaroon's reply brings all her doubts to rest. He is not like her father is proved. He also asks her to tell him the gender whenever doctor informs her.

Later, Kashaf discovers that Zaroon is secretly in touch with Asmara, his ex-fianc. Thinking that Zaroon is having a romantic affair with Asmara, she confronts him about it! Zaroon tries to convince her that he is not having an affair but in vain. She leaves his house and returns to her mother's home. Zaroon is angry and doesn't bother to stop her. Soon enough, she starts missing him. Rafia tries to solve their feud by asking Kashaf to call him and sort to their matter but both are adamant. Kashaf once dreams of Zaroon sending her divorce papers.

"Zaroon se alaidgi ki toh khwaish nahi hai meri.. woh chahe kuch bhi karta hai phir bhi!"

In Islamabad, Zaroon is totally fed up! His things are not on place, he is not getting meals according to his taste, he needs formals for office but they didn't arrive from laundry yet and his servant is good for nothing. He too misses her but his ego is coming in way of reconciliation. Zaroon changes caller ID of Kashaf to Woman and Kashaf changes his to Man. Kashaf gets to know that she is expecting twin daughters which add up to her insecurities. She is of opinion that Zaroon will never accept her again. The reasons being their fight and twin daughters. After Rafia's insistence she decides to call him last time. Woman flashes on his mobile screen but he rejects the call thinking it to be unknown. Kashaf on the other hand is left heart broken. The very next moment Zaroon realizes that it was Kashaf who was calling. He immediately calls her back. She picks up the call and informs him about daughters. He too gets emotional.

Kashaf: "Main wapis aana chahti hu.. apne ghar aana chahti hoon"

Zaroon: "Aa jao!"

The very next morning she finds Zaroon sleeping besides her. At first she thinks it to be a dream but then she realizes that its him! He flew down all the way from Islamabad to Karachi to take her and their daughters back with him. She confesses her love for him.

"Tum meri zindagi mein aane wale pehle aur aakhiri mard ho.. tumhaare ilawa maine kabhi kisi se mohabbat nahi ki aur tumhare baad main kisi se mohabbat nahi kar paungi"

"I know!"

Kashaf gets back to their home sweet home. After months, Kashaf gives birth to two healthy daughters who completes their family. In the last scene, we get a glimpse of their sweet little family and how both of them are thankful to god for giving them each other and two lovely daughters. We see Zaroon pampering their daughters and Kashaf finally out of all her insecurities. She signs off with...

"Kai saal pahle main apni zindagi mein aanewali har takleef par Allah ta'ala ko ilzaam diya karti... Mujhe hamesha is cheez ka afsos rahega ki main Allah ko galat samajhti thi... Mujhe lagta tha ki Allah mujhse pyar nahi karta .. haalanki Allah to, hum sab se pyar karta hai. Wo naimaten bhi deta hai aur aazmaata bhi hai. Lekin ye baat pata nahi jaldi samajh kyon nahi aati? ... Maine un chizon par raazi hona seekh liya hai jo wo mujhe deta hai aur un cheezon ki talaash chod di hai jo naa haasil hai."

The show ends with both Zaroon and Kashaf walking hand in hand towards the horizon...

Yahan raaste.. dushwaar hai...aur manzilein uss paar hai..magar ise jeene ko dil tyaar hai... tyaar hai... zindagi gulzar hai...

Zaroon Junaid is like Kashaf, a character who has flaws, but that's again what makes him a likable and real person. As Sir Abrar tells to Kashaf, he's not shallow as he seems at first glimpse. He is a layered character. At first glimpse he seems like a carefree, fun loving, in for a good time sort of guy, but he isn't taken in by the glitter and glamour. For him basic family values in his life partner are more important than being beautiful.

During his university days they show him a flirt and a chauvinist having double standards viz-a-viz girls. All is life he has seen his mother not giving priority to her children and family and his father meekly making the sacrifices and this puts him off women like his mother and he holds women in low esteem. He disapproves of the way his sister treats her fianc and later husband as she is behaves similarly like their mother and does not approve of Asmara's lifestyle and her being friends with guys. He is shown arrogant and believes that all any girl would be flattered and feel privileged to get attention from him. He does not approve of Asmara's way of dressing and her being friends with guys and when she accuses him of being a chauvinist, he is honest enough to admit it. Having been a topper it is difficult for him to accept that someone can be better than him and that's why he gets into clashes with Kashaf. Apart from that, his inability to slot Kashaf in his pre-conceived notions about females makes her an irritating puzzle for him.

But later he much more mature and became a successful professional. When he met Kashaf again after a gap of a few years and after Osama pointed out that Kashaf was always in his sub-conscious mind, he realized that Kashaf was the one who was closest to his ideal woman and wanted to marry her. Initially Kashaf refused as she didn't think highly of him due to their past history. But through his sincerity and care he convinced her to marry him. And as a husband he was very loving, caring and romantic.
Though Kashaf was difficult at times, yet he patiently dealt with her and didn't let his ego come between them. Of course he continued being a chauvinist but at the same time was reasonable enough to accept Kashaf's viewpoints. He said that he loved being a typical husband who would be demanding, but at the same time pamper his wife. It was a r and responsible husband and was appreciative and respectful towards Kashaf's family. But he had his flaws as a husband too. He blew up when he came to know that his wife was previously proposed by his friend Osama. He tended to encroach in Kashaf's personal space, which was not liked by Kashaf and also he kept it hidden from Kashaf when he started to meet Asmara again, which lead to a major fight when Kashaf found out.

But all said and done he was a very supportive husband and a wonderful father to his twin daughters and he valued family above anything else and was instrumental in restoring Kashaf's sense of worth and security.

Phele din se lekar aaj tak na mein uss (Kashaf) mein khaami talash kar saka na kamzori.' So says our main male protagonist Zaroon for Kashaf Murtaza. But ironically Kashaf is a main protagonist who has been portrayed far from perfect and has many flaws, yet her character is very well-etched out and as she's not shown flawless she must been one of the most realistic and relatable female protagonist ever and that also makes her one of the most-liked ones too.

Kashaf was much more than a bitter, pessimist, ungrateful, rude person. She was extremely vulnerable, sensitive, insecure, easily hurt, helpless, caring daughter and person and such characterization of a female lead was intriguing. The makers took a big risk in showing such a characterization and it could have easily back-fired if it lacked the brilliance of Umera Ahmed and Sanam Saeed.

When she is first intorduced to us, she is seen lamenting about life in general and everything specifically. She has a negative outlook towards life and is seen cribbing and complaining. One simply wanted to strangle her when she started cribbing about life being unfair because something as trivial as a pen running out of ink happened to her. But then her sensitive side is shown, where she is disheartened by her father's indifference towards her mother, sisters and her. Also for a long time she has been burdened with financially helping out her family and though all her sisters contribute towards it, but she being the eldest has to bear the major chunk of it. It irks her to no end that it's her father who is responsible for their predicament and he's totally indifferent to it, yet her mother gives leeway to her father and defends him and still harbors hopes of him helping them out. All this frustrates her and hence she tends to be overtly bitter, rude and ungrateful and also cynical.

But when her indifferent father taunts her mother and blames her values and her having daughters for the trouble they face, Kashaf bravely confronts her father and stands her ground against his sharp and stinging tirades, even though she is hurting from within. And although Kashaf is shown a pessimist, but at the same time she keeps striving to make her lot in life better. Her mom and sister Sidra r more resigned to their fate and more accepting, but Kashaf isn't. She is feisty and has the confidence to take on the world no matter what. Though she is shown doing shikwa, a lot, but when it comes to problems, she is the one to come up with solutions, whether it is how to arrange money for Shaneila's education or Sidra's wedding nd her mom and sisters' too look up at her in such situations. Her sense of value is well ingrained in her coz of her mother nd dat makes her a strong character.

Because of her past she has great difficulty in trusting people, especially men and coz of the complexes she suffers, it's difficult for her to accept that anyone would want to marry her, whether Zaroon or Osama, other than out of pity or as some sort of a game. But at the same time, she got convinced about Zaroon's sincerity not because her wooed her romantically, nor coz he made huge promises (btw he did neither), but just coz he prevented hot tea from falling on her and taking it on himself. It was equivalent to him taking a bullet for her and throughout her life she had never had anyone shielding her and dat's exactly what Zaroon had done. Marriage for her was not going to be easy and she was a difficult wife. At the same time as she said to Zaroon marriage was important to her and she would give it her all. And dat's exactly what she does. When her mother explains to her that it was the little caring and concern that cemented a relationship, she makes effort to do exactly that. When she feels belittled by her mother-in-law, she cries her heart out to her mother, who once again gives her a practical picture and she listens to her mother and follows her advice, which go a long way in-laws accepting, valuing and respecting her.

Kashaf's inherent sense of responsibility makes her a responsible wife and daughter-in-law. Though she never gave marriage a priority and if it had been up to her, she probably wouldn't have married, but once she got married she was dedicated to make it work, no matter how much effort she had to put in it. Also she didn't know much about how to go about making a marriage work. But her mother helped her out by giving sound and practical advice. With her in-laws, initially she had adjustment problems due to pre-conceived notions by both the sides, but once again heeding her mother's advice Kashaf made the effort and developed a good relationship with her in-laws based on mutual love and respect.

When she came to know that she was pregnant with twins, and later came to know that they were twin daughters, all her old insecurities resurfaced and she was afraid that Zaroon would abandon her and her daughters, just like her father had abandoned her mother, sisters and herself. Though at one level she clearly knew that Zaroon was nothing like her father neither his family like hers.

Her biggest drawback is that she is not able to fully trust Zaroon and also refuses to share her feelings with him and her past insecurities are never far away and almost ruins her marriage. But slowly she starts falling for Zaroon. And she falls for him hook, line and sinker. Still she is unable to confess her love for him. Finally when she does, he simply says I know', coz her love was evident in all the unspoken words of her, her little gestures of caring and concern, her jealousy for his past girlfriends, her caring for his family and much more.

And finally when she finds the security which she had always lacked, in the form of a loving and caring husband, two beautiful daughters and a secure family life, she realizes that she had been too harsh in blaming God and judging life and she regrets that. She is happy and grateful for her lot in life and readily accepts whatever God has in store for her and finally attains security, happiness and peace of mind and her Zindagi is gulzar!

Rafia again is one of the most realistically portrayed mother that we have come across Most people say that Rafia excatly like their mother, because that's exactly how mothers are, Though not abandoned by her husband in the societal/ legal jagron, but abaondened by him in every other way, coz she couldn't give him a son, But since technically he was her husband she had tolearte his inteference in her and her children's life but unfortunately that was limited at a negligible financial help and an abundance of taunts and questions about her ways of bringing up her daughters She bore it all with fortitude & always asked her daughters to be respectful towards their father.

Yes every now and then she would get bogged down by the burden of single motherhood and paying bills, but would bounce back and have a positive outlook towards She inculcated some deep rooted values in her daughters. Though she avoided blaming her husband, but at the same time, never shied away from letting him know how much his indifferent behavior has affected his daughters and her self, when the tide fumed for the better for her daughters and herself, she firmly told him about the injustice he had meted out to his daughters Knowing that Kashaf was the most difficult and was sensitive she shielded her as much as she could It was she who guided Kashaf and made her realize about how a marriage works. She gave practical and sound advise when Kashaf was quite lost about how to go about being a wife and daughter-in-law. Also she was a God-fearing, pious lady who never forgot to Thank God for the blessings that He bestowed on her and never complained when things gone tough.

he was not resentful of her husbands second wife and was in fact fond of his son Hamad, though as Kashaf said that they had to pay a very, high price for having Hamad. She was the silent force behind her daughters success in life and it was because of her upbringing that her daughters turned out to be very sorted, mature and impressive individuals who could face any situation in life

Sidra is a perfect foil for Kashaf. She is full of positivity & though she too has gone through the hardship that Kashaf, she is not as bitter towards life. She's kashaf sounding board and kashaf tends to unburden herself on sidra.

Also sidra make kashaf realize that life is nit as bad as kashaf tends to think and kashaf tries to make sidra realize that life isn't rosy as sidra would want it to be and that whatever ones want in life, one should strife for it them selves and not depend or expect others to fulfil their desires. As kashaf tends to take life too seriously, it is Sidra who by making light of matters, keeps kashaf grounded. Also she knows kashaf the best and guess and realized it much before Kashaf did regarding Kashaf's feeling for Zaroon. Overall a very likable character.

Junaid is the father of Zaroon and Sara. He's a sensible and mature man, but his biggest drawback is that he's not assertive even in matters that needs his assertion. He comes across as a meek husband and father who does not have much say in his family matters. He bonds well with Zaroon, coz Zaroon values his advice and also realizes that it his father who had to compromise a lot in his marriage. He's a positive peace loving person who is too mild to tell his wife when she's in the wrong. But when sought, he gives practical and good advice to his son and daughter and also forgives his wife easily when she realizes her mistakes.

Gazala is the mother of Zaroon and Sara and considers herself as a modern liberated career oriented woman, but does not realize that her career and social commitments were her priority always and her children and husband were secondary. The few times that her husband tried to point this out, she misunderstood and accused him of trying to curb her independence. Also she did not want to put restrictions on her children, especially her daughter Sara coz she didn't want them to accuse her of generation gap. She felt that she was instrumental in her children's upbringing and success, but she really didn't know what her children really wanted or how her children really were. She encouraged her children to make their own decisions, but did not guide them.

Sir Abrar is the one common person between Kashaf and Zaroon and though he's not related to either, but both hold him in high esteem. With Zaroon he has a more informal relation, coz other than being his professor, he has also been their family friend for long and has known Zaroon always and is very fond of him. He's also very fond of Kashaf coz Kashaf has been his most outstanding student and also coz of her behaviour. Kashaf sees a father figure in Sir Abrar and respects him greatly.

He's the one Zaroon goes to when he wants to marry Kashaf. Sir Abrar very logically and rightly points out all the pros and cons to Zaroon regarding marrying Kashaf and again logically and honsetly discusses with Kashaf about Zaroon. He is instrumental in Kashaf and Zaroon marrying each other.

Murtaza is shown as a weak man with no sense of what is right or wrong. Under his brother's influence and command he marries a second time coz his first wife Rafia didn't bore him any son. He, for all practical purpose has abandoned Rafia and his three daughters to fend for themselves. But coz he still has the societal/ legal tag of being Rafia's husband, he thinks it is his duty and right to make decisions on their behalf. He gets influenced by his second wife Nigar, who clearly resents and is envious of Rafia and her daughters. His advice for his daughters are based more on his selfish motives, rather than for the concern of his daughters. When they really need help he always finds way to sneak out of it, but is quick to condemn Rafia nd the daughters, for what he may perceive as being inappropriate. He only humiliates and brings down the efforts of his wife and daughters, that leave them, especially his daughters badly scarred. He has no qualms about asking Rafia for favors for his friends and for his promotions.

But when his daughters have learnt how to fly and sore higher, he wants to be a part of their lives. By the end of it all, he realizes the wrongs that he has done towards his wife and daughters, but is a helpless man as now he has nothing to offer that they need. The son who he had so desired, turned out to be his biggest disappointment and the daughters whom he had so cruelly abandoned had well settled lives which he couldn't be part of.

Nigar the second wife of Murtaza, is the exact opposite of Rafia. She is resentful and envious of Rafia and her daughters, and keeps filling Murtaza's ears against Rafia. She is immature and materialistic and instead of inculcating proper values in her son, asks him to spy on Rafia and find out about the happenings in Rafia's house. Indulging her son, hiding his mistakes and keeping him engaged in such petty activities in stead of encouraging him to be responsible and study proves detrimental and her son Hamad isn't even able to get himself employed.

Hamad is the brother that the three sisters had to pay a very high price to get as Kashaf says. Rafia is shown kind towards him and he's fond of Rafia and especially her cooking. Coz of his mother's influence he tends to indulge in harmless gossip, especially reporting about his Rafia and her daughters to his inquisitive mother. He has been spoilt and indulged by his father and mother and therefore lacks a sense of responsibility and seriousness in life. Coz of this attitude he's not serious about his studies and fares miserably and coz of that he could not make a career or get a job. When he visits Rafia's house, his step sisters relentlessly taunt him, but he's too thick-skinned and unbothered to feel bad about the taunts. Also he knows that he's their outlet to take out their bitterness on and hence isn't mindful.

Sara is Zaroon elder sister. She was the product of the environment she was brought up in . Girls grows up watching their mother and sometimes should say get more influenced . Zaroon was the person who missed his mother's presence in his growing up years and that's why wanted a wife who is with him at every step .Sara followed her Mother's lifestyle where she thought she is old enough not to answerable to anyone . As once Gazala told her husband that my children knows what's right or wrong . But she did not try to put values in her about right or wrong and that's why she suffered . And then she learnt from her own experience that you have to compromise in the marriage to sustain it . Sara's character was very well sketched and was a learning experience for many girls coming from her kind of background . Not to take people for granted .

Shaniela is the youngest of the 3 sisters and just like her sisters, she resents her father for being so uncaring and loves and respects her mother for bringing them up even though she had to face so many hardships. Also she contributes to the household by giving tuitions. She is a good student too and goes on to do engineering. Most of her scenes are with Hamad, her brother and though she is always taunting Hamad, but they are pretty cute scenes as Hamad is shown too thick skinned and carefree sort to take anything at heart. Also Shaniela is more bitter towards her father compared to Sidra and many a times she wants to confront him or criticize him, but is discouraged by either Sidra or her mom Rafia.

Asmara is Zaroon's childhood friend and is in love with Zaroon and has always taken for granted that she would marry him. She is just like Zaroon's mom and sister, with very liberal outlook towards life and being the only child, she's more indulged and spoilt. She is arrogant and does not hold high opinion about people below her in the social ladder. She dislikes Kashaf especially since Osama is so taken in by her and Zaroon too tends to give her importance. She does not take too well to Zaroon's dictates, especially regarding her and her clothes and feels Zaroon is old fashioned and a chauvinist. She and Zaroon have a lot of clashes coz Zaroon is a conservative person and does not approve of Asmara's liberal ways, especially her mixing and having friends of the opposite gender. She is not a very likable character, but I liked her when she told Zaroon how she felt about Zaroon constantly dictating her during their engagement period and how claustrophobic she felt and when Zaroon told her about his marriage with Kashaf being a mistake and that Kashaf doubted his fidelity and she said that he was in the wrong and she would have felt exactly the same as Kashaf felt.

Osama is an extremely happy-go-lucky guy and as Zaroon said, usse kush rehne ki bemaari hai.' Nothing seems to dampen his happy mood ever. He's a very good friend of Zaroon, and does not shy away from pointing out to Zaroon his mistakes and opposes him when he feels Zaroon is in the wrong. He secretly loved Kashaf during their university days and was a great admirer of hers and defended her amongst Zaroon and Asmara. Also he was the one to make Zaroon realize that it was Kashaf who had always been in his sub-conscious mind and unconsciously Zaroon had compared Asmara to Kashaf. He finally takes up the courage to propose to Kashaf after many years, but takes it in his stride when Kashaf turns him down.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai.. Meri Nazar Se..

May 2014,A Chaneel Named Zindagi had its advertisements all over the TV, Radio, Newspapers And Even Billboards. The Tagline Itself Was Beautiful.. Visa Insaano Ko Lagta Hai.. Kahaaniyon Ko Nahi.. With A Promise To Air The Hit Shows From Our Neighboring Country Pakistan, Zindagi Stepped Into Our Lives. Don't No About Others, But I Was Captivated By The Quality Of The Shows They Were Offering..

To Be Very Honest, The Show Which Captivated My Attention First Was The Romantic Comedy Aunn Zara.I Still Remember Waking Up To A Page Long Advertisement Of Zindagi And Its Shows In My Newspaper Which Consisted Of A Sketch Of Our Adorable Aunn Zara With The Tag Of Just Married, While It Had A Beautiful Oil Painting Of Zaroon Kashaf With The Tagline, Sarhad Paar Se Do Dilon Ki Dastaan.. However This Too Wasn't Enough To Make Me Watch The Show.

But One Fine Afternoon, While Switching Channels I Watched A Scene Of Zindagi Gulzar Hai And There Was No Looking Back! Mahn, I Got Heavily Heavily Addicted To This Show or More Appropriate Would Be? It Started Growing on Me. Having Been Fed To K Dramas Since Childhood, The High Octane Twists And Turns, The Larger Than Life Sets And The Cakey Makeup On The Potragonists Face Had Made Me Sick And Tired which ultimately Led to me Leaving Them To Save Or Have Mercy On My Eyes! But Zindagi Gulzar Hai turned me around to watching Dramas once again.

What Worked For Me Was Its Real Situations, Storyline and Characters. The Female Potragonist Kashaf Murtaza, Eldest Of The The Three Murtaza Sisters Is Bitter, Complaining And Ungrateful To God And Life. And One Can't Blame Her, When You Have Your Father Turn Completely Cold To You And Your Needs And to top it, Marries Another Woman just for the sake of a son. And Your Whole Growing Up Years You see your mother struggling to get the both ends meet.. You are bound to turn Bitter! You Don't Expect Them To Be All Happy And Oozing With Positivity Like Shown In Our Dramas. And It Does Bother Me To Say,No Matter How Much Large Markets Do Our Dramas Occupy But Still They Aren't That Earthy That Real As Our Pakistani Counterparts Are. At least I as a viewer can't connect to them at all.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai, follows The journey Of Kashaf Murtaza A Girl who is academically Brilliant and Its cuz of this brilliance she gets admission into one of the top universities of Karachi where Admission is on the basis of Merit. However This University also boasts of students from Rich Class like any other. But No matter how much brilliant Kashaf is, she is extremely insecure, bitter and ungrateful to life and god due to The Harsh Realities a of Life! She doesn't believes in Fairytales and doesn't views the world through Rose Tinted Glasses. However her antidote resides in the form of Sidra, her younger sister who is extremely Optimistic and Happy Go Lucky. Kashaf also has a younger sister Shanila who aspires to become an Engineer. Rafia Murtaza, Though had faced many hardships in her life but still has given the best to her daughters. Her Sweet And Optimistic Nature makes her identifiable with many mothers across the globe.

Kashaf though complains and is ungrateful you cannot help but feel connected to her. As Sanam Saeed, who played Kashaf herself said once That There Is A Kashaf In Every Girl. Be It her monolouges where you feel that not once but at least many times in life you may have said that. Her Standing Up for her own rights, her mother and her sisters against her father is something every girl might have done once twice or many a times. Her Continuous Scribblings and Complaints To Life Is Something We Often Do.. I Seriously Don't Remember The Last Time I was able to connect with a female lead to this extent and I daresay that I have at least 80% Of Kashaf in me.

While The University makes Kashaf more insecure of her humble background. But unlike many, She was dignified about her status and Background. She Hates Men And Is Very Selective Of The People She Talks To which perhaps explains why she had just Maria as her friend through out her University Days. It was here she meets, Zaroon Junaid The Blue Eyed Handsome And The Most Good looking Guy Of Perhaps The Whole University. However soon we come to know that there's more to Zaroon that what meets the eye. He is old fashioned, egoistic, chauvinist yet a Hard core Romantic who takes life as an adventure. He belongs from a rich well settled family which like many families has issues of its own. Gazala, His Mother is completely workaholic, independent and too much ignorant for her family.Which perhaps explains Zaroon's Chauvinism and Conservative approach as he had seen his father suffer and make all the compromises during his growing up years. Zaroon also has an elder sister namd Sara who is a copy of Gazala and suffers big time later due to her temperament.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai, mainly deals with lessons of life weaved beautifully with a love story by Umera Ahmed. The Honeymoon Phase Of Zaroon Kashaf has to be my favorite where Kashaf falls head over heels in love with Zaroon. And It was nothing cheesy with Stars Moon and Crap in the name of Romance.Just Some Mutual Understanding, Warmth And Words of Love gave it a very Old World Feel. As Fawad Afzal Khan who played Zaroon himself said once, Intimacy Isn't Always About Hugs And Kisses..Due To Zaroon's constant love, care and Understanding, Kashaf finally let's go of her insecurities. While she started from.. Zindagi Ek Bohot Bada Maslaa Hai, Itna Bada Maslaa Ki Insaan Isse Hal Karte Karte Khatam Ho Jaata Hai Par Aazamaishein Hai Ki Khatam Hone Ka Naam Nahi Leti.. To Zindagi Ajeeb Si Baaton Ka Ek Majmuan Hai.. Ab Meri Diary Mein Allah Se Shikayatein Kam Hai Kyunki Maine Unn Cheezon Pe Raazi Hona Seekh Liya Hai Jo Woh Mujhe Deta Hai Aur Unn Cheezon Ki Talaash Chhod Di Hai Jo Naahasil Hai..We can see a bright future ahead for Zaroon Kashaf and their daughters even as the show ends with both of them walking towards the Horizon.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai remains special for me in many ways as its the closest to my heart, An Epic Masterpiece and a Block Buster which introduced us to Pakistani Dramas and the most versatile and talented actors of Pakistan Television Sanam Saeed And Fawad Afzal Khan. The Chemistry they created onscreen as Zaroon Kashaf is commendable. Be It The College Students Or The Married Couple. Such Crackling Is Their Chemistry That You Feel Like Melting When Zaroon romances Kashaf through his words and she though tries to remain indifferent but Blushes. Their Story Is Not A Fairytale Like Shown In Every other series, Its a love story about 2 Mature Individuals who detested each other come to love each other with time. Many Dont Consider Zindagi Gulzar Hai A love story but I do. For Me,Umera Ahmed has beautifully woven the lessons of life in a love story of two opposites. Which makes me want to have a one of my own..

Now Coming To Characters, It happens very rare when we spcly I am able to connect with the Characters. For Me A series works only when I'm able to connect as a viewer and Umera has sketched the characters so well that we can't help but connect to them. My Favorite Character Kashaf, identifies a lot with me. Like her I too belong to a decent middle class family, completed my 12ths with good grades, got admission in the prestigious university on the basis of admission test, extremely rude to men and completely detest girls who are nothing short of Beauty Without Brains. I Myself don't know how many qualities I identify with her. Then Zaroon, The Handsome Guy who is old fashioned, chauvinistic, egoistic and conservative. Nothing Short of a Boy Next Door. No Matter how much we claim, We still have 9 out of 10 men with Zaroon's Temperament. Gazala And Sara, we all have characters like them I'm our family circles don't we? Headstrong, Wayy To Liberal. Sidra, Shanila and Rafia, I'm sure all us girls have sisters and a mother like them which makes them lovable.
Junaid And Sir Abraar, We all have some intellectual men In the family who stand as our support systems and give us wisest advises when required.
Asmara And Osama Cmon, Who doesn't have a friend who is snobbish and haughty and a friend who is chilled out and sensible? 😆

Zindagi Gulzar Hai was received well In Pakistan, making it the next big thing after Humsafar. But In India it broke all records and changed the experience of Dramas for Indian Viewers. We can happily call it Blockbuster Of The Age. With On Repeat 5 Times And Still Going Strong I Can only recall Munira Di's Dialogue in Kashaf Style, Aur Ek Yeh Zindagi Gulzar Hai Ka Craze Hai Jo Khatam Hone Ka Naam Hi Nahi Leta.. Its Beauty can be understood by the fact as an Indian Male tweeted, "If I Ever Had A Daughter,I'll Name Her Kashaf. For Me And Many Indians, It Remains The Masterpiece, The Blockbuster Which We Can Watch For Nth Times..

Zindagi Abhi Khatam Nahi Hui.. Yeh Toh Bas Shuru Hui Hai..

Zaroon Junaid And The Man Who Played Him, Fawad Khan.

My First Memory Of This Gorgeous Man Would Be I Would Say, Nothing! I Mean I Still Remember Zindagi's Twitter Comment Box Being Filled With Comments Of Oh My God Fawad!!! And I Was still like,"Yeh Fawad Khan Hai Kaun Aur Hai Kya Cheez?" I mean I didn't get all the hype around him while all my college friends were going crazy about him/ after him.But Trust Me, When I Tuned into Zindagi Gulzar Hai I wasn't even aware of Fawad. Even after watching him in a scene or two, I was like "Theek Hai! Aisa Bhi Kya Hai??" Cuz I Found Many Females Comparing Him To Tom Cruise, who is one of my favorite Hollywood Actor and I seriously didn't get the comparison.

But a week of watching the show and then I started to understand why girls were crazy after him. The Thing which captivates you for the first time are his eyes. Those Gorgeous Hazel Eyes which emote perhaps a thousand emotions. One Moment he would tell you that you're the most beautiful woman in this world and he loves you. The Next Moment, You can see the anger, bitterness, detest in his eyes for you. It would be more appropriate to say that Zaroon grew on me. Many Females Complain that Zaroon is Flawed, Egoistic, Chauvinist, Old Fashioned and etc. But I daresay, I still love him. People claim Humsafar's Asher to be Fawad's Best Work Or Even Dastaan's Hassan But For Me, His Best Portrayal Remains Zindagi Gulzar Hai's Zaroon.

What Captures Your Attention Instantly when you tune into ZGH,is Zaroon's Youthful Appeal and Adventurous Approach to Life. His Opening Scene with his Guitar and his lines.. Zindagi.. Har Din Naya! Surprises, Achievements, Ups And Downs. Allah Miyan Ne Kya Shaandaar Package Banaya Hai Zindagi Ki Shakal Mein... You Cannot help but smile at his enthusiasm and zeal about life. Furthermore, we also have a glimpse into his life. He had a Perfect Family Environment with his parents and an elder sister. But Doesn't Perfect seems like a imperfect word? Soon we get to see that Gazala is utterly liberal, workaholic and independent. Who though has given the best to her children in terms of Education, Lifestyle And Comforts. But Has lacked the basic social values which a mother tends to inhibit in her offsprings.

Zaroon Junaid, Is a Charmer, flirt and perhaps the most Good Looking Guy From The Whole Of University. Or As You Would love to say, The Blue Eyed Boy. He Has A Long String Of Girls Attached To Him Which He Mainly Terms As His "Friends" Much To The Irritation Of Asmara who is an updated version of Gazala and Sara who is in love with Zaroon with the two of them being together since childhood. But Guess, Zaroon doesn't has feelings for her.

Unlike Our Indian Shows, where the Male Lead Is Glorified, Zaroon comes in as as a typically flawed character. He has a very low and poor opinion of women which can be seen in his journal entry,Women Thy Name Is Stupidity, Stubbornness, Hypocrisy And Foolishness.. Which Can Probably be as to all during his growing up years he saw his father meekly making all the sacrifices and his mother being the dominant partner due to which he suffered. It isn't that he isn't the Ideal Beta Or Ideal Bhai.. He Is! He Isn't one of those sons who turn blind to their mother's faults due to their love for her. He Loves Her, but time and again he has pointed out her flaws to her. Same Goes for Sara, Though He Detested her way of behaving with her Fiance/Husband Farhaan, Her Lifestyle and Her Liberal Attitude but he was the one who helped Sara pull out of her depression after her divorce. He may have a chauvinistic, Old fashioned approach to values and in his life partner but I daresay many a times I don't find him wrong at many places.

He May have strings of girls attached to him but he again has a very traditional approach towards his would be life partner. He doesn't wants a overtly liberal, stubborn and dominating woman who would make him feel claustrophobic with her constant demands, ego and activities. Perhaps that's why he prohibits Asmara for roaming around with her male friends at 2 in the night, escaping away to a concert without informing him after their engagement or even didn't like her way of dressing during university days. This turned out to be the main reason why Asmara Zaroon broke up soon after.

But the female he meets in College, Kashaf whom he detested in the first meet itself, he founds her ideal love, life partner. It would be as Zaroon says, Mujhe Biwi Ke Naam Par Ek Joote Polish Karne Wali Farmabardaar Aurat Nahi Chahiye... I Love Kashaf's Strength Of Character. Who thought he would fall for the same girl whom he hated all through his University. But Then I would say,She was always present in his subconscious. It would be wrong to say that he wanted a typical girl in the name of a wife. If this was the case he wouldn't ever had married Kashaf who was anything but typical. He needed a strong, mature woman who is a perfect mix of independent and traditional. One who doesn't rejects her family and their relation for the sake of her career.

Then, The Most Adorable Quality Of Zaroon which I loved and will be doing so till eternity. His Die hard Romantic Nature And A Childish Attitude. Though Kashaf was a dampener in the name of Romance, but Zaroon never left his quota. Right From, Do You Love Me? To Mujhse Laaparwah Hona Tumhare Liye Mumkin Hi Nahi Reh Payega... Ladies, He's guaranteed to make you blush, swoon and melt into a pulp. A Born Flirt who didn't even leave his wife with, Haan! Sunna Tha Maine Kuch Arsa Pehle, Ki Chaand Aasaman Pe Hota Hai. Par Kuch Dino Se Zameen Pe Shift Ho Gaya Hai, Aur Filhaal Toh Mere Bilqul Saamnr Baitha Hai... But Unlike many, You don't feel the urge to hit him with your footwear but rather look at him dreamily. The childish tantrums he threw at Kashaf like, Mujhe Manaa Leti Toh Main Maan Jaata Naa! Makes you want to pull his cheeks.

It also came as a surprise when Kashaf revealed that she is pregnant and Zaroon seemed happy and ecstatic. For A Man who seemed phobic to commitment, Fatherhood came as a happiness to him. Though The Show In Its Closure showed a few glimpses of Zaroon as a Father, But I'm sure he had been the best Father for his Daughters.

Now Fawad Khan. Should I say how convincing he looked as the youthful Zaroon though being a family man. That Charm, That Swagger as the Young Zaroon was commendable! The same goes for The Mature Zaroon, who is a professional. And Do I need to need to mention about his eyes? Appropriate Would Be... He Looked At Her The Way Every Woman Wants To Be Looked At By A Man... The Old World Charm He brings in as the romantic hero is something very very lovable. Though He Himself admitted during an Interview that it wasn't easy portraying Zaroon as he said,"Only The Romantic Side Was Me.. I Cannot Connect To Him At Many Places As I Believe In Equalism For Women." But still he played Zaroon with perfection. The Flamboyance, The Charm, The Debonair Style Required For Zaroon was inbuilt in him. The Amazing Chemistry he shared with Sanam Saeed who plays Kashaf is something which keeps us glued to our TV's. Fawad also mentioned in an Interview that Sultana Siddiqui And Umera Ahmed agreed to tone down Zaroon's Portrayal on screen a bit cuz Novel's Zaroon was way more chauvinist and egoistic. Nonetheless, It made him more adorable anyways

For Pakistan, maybe his game changer was Humsafar's Asher Hussain But In India, Zaroon Junaid made him the star. People still address him as Zaroon and he seems happy about it. And I will say it again, Many Women may find Zaroon Wayy chauvinistic but yet I still wish I could marry him. Everyone has flaea don't they? And Atleast Zaroon was upfront honest to admit his flaws without any arguments. And I believe 9 out of 10 men are like Zaroon.

In The End, I would love to say that like this show Zaroon too is the closest character to my heart portrayed by My Fawad.❤️ As I Often would find myself saying..
Zindagi Gulzar Hai.. Jaise Zaroon Usko Kehta Hai..

Zaroon : Hello my name's Zaroon Junaid yours ?
Kashaf : Churail Awwal
Zaroon : excuse me
Kashaf : excused
Zaroon : GOD kuch larkiyon ko attitude dikha kar larkon se attention lene ki adhat hoti hai
Kashaf : Attitude ! Plz mein tumarey jaise larkon ko ghass bhi nahi dalti chahe wo ghass khaney wale kyun na hoon.

This is how they met !! :D

Zaroon :Kashaf tum khamakah sub se samne apna tamasha bana rahi ho
Kashaf : Mein sirf apna nahi tumhara bhi tamasha bana rahi hoon ...or tamasha banta he to banney do .. tumhey to accha lagta hai nah badnami, ruswahi apne liye nahi sirf doosro ke liye

Kashaf : Tumharey middle class larkiyon ke bare mein kayalaat Don't surprise me at all or ye tumhara qasoor nahi he tumhari tarbiyat ka qasoor hai !

This was one powerful scene! Power packed performance, power-packed dialogues and power packed emotions! Both the actors were at par ! 👏

And they meet again..!

Zaroon: Bahout Khushi hui tumse milkar.. too good to see you after long time..!
Kashaf: Mujhe nahi hui !

Zaroon (to himself) : Dimaag aaj bhi waise he kharab hai... yaa shayad abb zyada !

Kashaf (to herself) : Duniya mein agar koi aisa shaks hai jisse mein milna nahi chahti thi toh woh yeh hai !

Such an amazing scene !!

Kashaf reacts to Zaroon's proposal !!

Kashaf:Tum apne aapko samjhte kya ho ?
Zaroon: Bahout achha insaan !
Kashaf: Tumhari himmat kaise hui Sir Abrar se mere rishte ki baat karni ki !
Zaroon: Kisi ko propose karna koi gunaah toh nahi hai !

Kashaf: Tum mujhe samajhte kya ho Zaroon.. main Asmara, Naveen, Naureen, Maria, Farheen.. un ladkiyon mein se nahi hu..
Zaroon:Waah Bhai apko toh meri saari girlfriends ki list yaad hai.. lekin usme se Farheen ka naam nikal dijiyega.. mujhe bahout zeher lagti thi woh !
Kashaf : woh toh main bhi aapko zeher lagti thi..
Zaroon: Aap toh mujhe churail lagti thi !

This scene was ROFL !!

Chai ka Cup
Only ZaShaf's fans know the real importance of this chai ka cup! 😆
Kashaf was already amazed by the sincerity with which Zaroon was talking. One could easily see it in her eyes how much those words mean to her ! The servant enters and was about to serve tea to Kashaf. The cup accidentally trips over and the tea was about to spill over Kashaf, when Zaroon brings his hands in between to prevent this, thus taking the hot tea on him and shielding Kashaf, instinctively.
Kashaf was taken aback by this gesture and she accepted his proposal without wasting a second.

|| Engagement ||

Finally the cutest couple gets engaged in a simple engagement ceremony. Truly, simplicity remains unbeaten !!

First Phone call after engagement !

Mr and Mrs Zaroon Junaid, finally !!

Once more a very hatke way of showing their first night. An extremely heartwarming, endearing, funny scene. Zaroon was just too adorable as the nervous husband and kept misplacing and fumbling with the wedding ring, especially as on the other end Kashaf was not behaving like the blushing, coy wife. He puts the ring in her finger with the promise of being together till death does them apart.

Morning Tea

The Bedroom scene

A very domesticated, everyday mundane happening. Zaroon being a typical husband, irritating Kashaf by flinging his wet towel at her, Kashaf being the typical wife and reprimanding him and telling him not to expect her to pick after him, but doing exactly that.

Zaroon wanting to spend time with Kashaf, but Kashaf tidying up the room and later on the bathroom and thinking that his bad habit of leaving things as they are would be one of the reasons for breaking up, if they ever do. This could be the scene out of the life of any married couple anywhere! And den Kashaf's thoughts and u realize she isn't as blase as she wld hv Zaroon believe and how much her married life is already more than she ever wished for, but her insecurities are never far away and ends up thinking how it would be a big problem if this man exits from her life!

This scene was too adorable !!

The Power Cut

This scene was a total bliss with Zaroon flirting with Kashaf and Kashaf blushing at his flirts throughout !!

Kashaf :Chand deka hai tum ne?
Zaroon : Dek raha hoon.
Kashaf :Woh Asman pe hota hai sirf dur se dekha ja sakta hai.
Zaroon : Han suna tha mein ne kuch harsa pehle ke chand asman par hota tha lekin kafi dino se zameen per shif ho gaya he. Aj to bilkul mere samne beta he..

And then comes the diary entry of Kashaf in which she pours her heart.. One of the brilliant scenes of the show ! Kudos to the writer, director and Sanam for executing it so beautifully.. one can easily look through the insecurities of Kashaf..!

"Main miss karoongi? Miss toh bauht chota lafz hai in ehsaasat ke liye jo main rakhne lagi hoon
Main apne aap se darne lagi hoon. Kisi se mohabbat insaan ko bahut kamzaor kar deti hai. Bahut bebas , Majboor, mehkoom aur mujhe in teenon cheezon se nafrat hai..."

"Tum meri zindagi ka markaz bante ja rahe ho
Tum mujhse poochte ho ki mujhe tumhari kaunsi baat acchi lagti hai. Main tumse kaise kahoon ki mujhe Tumhari kaunsi baat acchi nahin lagti"

"Apne ird gird tumhara mandrana, mere wajood se na hatne waali tumhari gehri bolti nazrein, tumhare har waqt ki tawajjo, tumhara jaan chidakne waala har andaaz, har baar jab tum mere maa baap ke liye ehtraaman khade hote ho toh main tumhare saamne jhukne lagti hoon aur kya kuch nahin jo mujhe tumhare saamne mom nahin karta."

"Ekk chote se ghar ke iss pankhe waale kamre main tumhari yeh gehri neend, mineral water bottle dhoonadne ke bajaye nalke ka paani pee lena, handwash chod ke ekk saste sabun se haath dhona, apni plate ko meri Ma ke bane khane se baar baar bhar lena"

"Par main yeh tumhe kabhi nahin bataoongi, tumhare har wade par hasoongi, tumhari har baat ka mazaak udaoongi, tum mujhe sangemarmar samjhte ho toh samjhte raho. Main tumhera saamne ret ki deewar nahin ban sakti. Mujhe toot jaane se khauf aata hai"

Button stitching and money giving scene

Yet another brilliant scene from the same episode...Kashaf stitching his button for him (which I guess was a case of a dream come true for Zaroon) was of significance to Zaroon.

And after this we get a glimpse of caring and responsible husband. Zaroon giving her the money moves the supposedly unemotional and cold-hearted Kashaf to tears as none of the other much more romantic and flamboyant gestures of Zaroon has done.

Cute Fight Sequence

Zaroon : Shaadi duniya ka sab se ghatiya tareen kaam hai
Kashaf :I agree
Zaroon : Toh nahi karni thi
Kashaf : Toh tum na karte
Zaroon : Tum kaha tha!
Kashaf :Tum ne bhi kaha tha
Zaroon :
Agar mujhe zindagi dobaar mile toh main marr ke bhi shaadi na karo
Kashaf : Main bhi
Zaroon : Main toh phirse paida hi na hona chahoo

Kashaf :Main bhi

Cuteness Overloaded I would say !!

Kashaf's Pregnant

Kashaf : I'm expecting
Zaroon :You are what ?
Zaroon :To tum roh kyu rahi ho ? tumara dimag kharab hai
Kashaf : Muje khud nahi pata

Kashaf's Love Confession

After a lot of introspection and heart-to-heart talks with her mother Rafia, Kashaf comes to the conclusion that she can't stay without Zaroon and finally calls him up to end their fight and to inform him that he is going to have twin daughters. Zaroon simply states aa jao' and that's all that Kashaf needed to hear from him. But Zaroon further shows how much he loves and cares for Kashaf, that he does not wait for Kashaf to return, but catches the first available flight to fetch her. No ego, no hassle, just pure love for his wife and kids. Initially when Kashaf wakes up and sees Zaroon sleeping next to her, she dismisses it as a dream, but when she accidentally touches him, she realizes that it is really Zaroon in person. Her smile says it all. And when she finally confesses her love for him in her inimitable style, all he says is dat he knows. And yes he does know coz she has shown her love for him at various times, in various ways...only the words were left unspoken!

Zindagi waqai Gulzar Hai

Finally Kashaf's life has come full circle and her journey from Shikwa to Shukr is complete. For her it was never about having the most handsome husband and being married to a very rich and high society family. For her the most important thing was she being accepted as she always felt rejected by her father. Zaroon made her feel secure and loved her unconditionally that she came full circle and as it was said in the end her journey.

For Zaroon too his life has come full circle. He finally has the kind of family life he always yearned for. He is a typical demanding husband, but at the same time pampering and loving his wife and his twin daughters and he feels his life is complete and blessed.

.Hajmola.

ZGH is my most favorite drama in recent times. ZGH for me is not just a drama but a way of life now. The lessons it taught on importance of education, hardwork and perseverance. And that life doesnt always remain dark. Keep working towards your goal and eventually things become better. Kashaf is an inspiration and which girl wouldnt want a Zaroon in her life?
Thanks to ZGH team for giving us this precious gift!

One of the most beautiful romantic serial to be ever made is "zindagi gulzar hai"...Zarooon

Bhatakti_atma

OK so it started like..honestly speaking I never noticed it's promo while I was excited for Aunn Zara and since in my family v aren't big fans of Indian serials v decided to give zindagi a try..and zindagi gave me a new zindagi through ZGH..initially I really loved Kashaf's side of the story while I found Asmara irritating..but gradually when Zaroon began flirting with Kashaf, yes that was the time I got glued to the show..and then there was no looking back..being an impatient person i saw all the episodes on YouTube and fell for fawad as well as sanam..they both are great actors and make a great pair too..I.wish zgh had some more episodes..the characters in the show are so real that one can actually relate to them..and I truly enjoyed each and every moment in the show..n now zgh has become my fav show and I have seen it as many times as they have aired it on zindagi n with the same excitement..and I have all the episodes in my phone too..*yes I am that addicted to the show* its been three years already but I am sure it will be as refreshing as it was for the first time to me every time..and this is the only show I can keep watching over and over again and with the same enthusiasm .

" zindagi gulzar hai yeh ishq ka darbar hai ,yahan ghamo ko palna bekaar hai "

doesn't matters how many serials comes and go in future but nothing can beat ZGH. it hold a special place in my heart.it is a great source of positive energy ,every time you watch it you feel cherished and full of positive energy. Zashaf is the most unusual and realistic couple on screen.
fawad sanam are flawless as zaroon junaid and kashaf murtaza.Every supporting character be it osama, asmara, rafia, sidra, murtaza, sir abrar, junaid, ghazala or sara has his/her own significance in the story.the direction, writing, screenplay all are brilliant.i love the background music of the show, its outstanding and so are the OSTs. thank you zindagi for bringing ZGH in india.
