J2 Gold Panel Chicon 2015
- Jensen jokes that Jared was having his hair done when the SNS concert was going on.
- Jared explains he wasn't at the concert because he was with his sister, who was recently engaged.
- Jensen calls Jared electric, Jared gently strokes Jensen's arm.'
- Sound system is having some problems - sound guy is stuck in traffic - and J2 are joking.
- Jared says that Jensen did a great job directing 11x03 :)
- Jared says they had a guest start named Jared. They nicknamed him OJ for "other Jared" lol. Says OJ saw Jared's phone and the amount of unread emails and was gobsmacked. Also on phone was first ever Chicon schedule. Wishes the fandom a happy Chicon anniversary.
- Jensen says that Jared's voicemail message is way back from summer. Jensen grabs Jared's phone and says "this is happening."
- Jensen is changing Jared's outgoing voicemail because it's so old.
- Jared has 74 voicemails. Jensen is reading off who they're from - agent, wife, your brother...
- Jensen calls for silence as Jared records a new voicemail greeting.
- Jared's new voicemail greeting included "and friends" and the audience cheering :)
- Full voicemail: "Hey, you've reached Jared, and friends *audience cheers* leave a message."
- Jensen likes to hear how the show has affected the fans' lives.
- Microphone starts going wonky again. Fans: Blame the musk!
- Fan asks how J2 want the world to end. Jared: A big, happy party. Jensen: Peacefully and quickly.
- Jared: If/when I die, if you're at my funeral, make sure you're having a good time.
- Jensen: If the opportunity presented itself for he and Christian Kane to sing together, he'd do it. Kane is very busy and it's a matter of schedules.
- Jared is as touched by us as we are by him. Jared: We've been as touched by you. It's reciprocal.
- Jensen says they still look at each other and go, "How did this happen?" Says cons are a filling station of inspiration. Jared says that it's through the fans that they find out what it all really means. Jensen: This is us out on tour with the people we make this art for. We thank you.
- Asked if anything supernatural has happened to them off set. Jared tells the story about the haunted hotel where he and Gen went on a date night. Jensen talks about being home along and hearing a door open and close but no one was there. Jensen: "I may not be a ghost hunter in real life, but I've got almost ten years of experience so your move."
- Jared (at the end of the hotel story) I put on the TV and there's Jensen! Jensen: Best part of his day.
- On Sam and Dean: Jensen continues to play the big brother. Is as close to a father figure as he'll ever be. Not paternal towards Sam - it's a partnership they have not a dictatorship.
- Jensen says Dean allowed that father space in his own life to remain empty. Not needed for him anymore.
- Fans are yelling out reasons why they should be picked for questions. Jensen: I heard gynecology back there!
- Advice for aspiring actors? Jared talks about the enjoyment of story telling. Crying fan: I'm so happy right now. Jared says you don't need to run to LA to act. Fan thanked him for helping with her anxiety.
- Fav obstacle at Tough Mudder? Jared's was the Everest one. Jensen's was a ring and peg board thing they had to climb. Like Ninja Warrior.
- Jensen was daunted by the ring pegboard because a big, muscled guy fell after getting a couple feet up but it ended up being a piece of cake.
- Jensen explains how they had to hoist Jason Manns up. Jason ended up on his shoulders in cleated shoes and then jumped from Jensen's shoulders.
- Osric blew his knee out and J2 took turns carrying him. They joke that Richard just wanted to drag him.
- Jensen says they're gonna try to get a bigger group together next year for Tough Mudder. Fans volunteer Kim Rhodes.
J2 Main Panel Chicon 2015
- Boys come out on stage. Jared: You guys started this family right here in Chicago. This is very special for us. We became part of the family 9yrs ago. You started this family. Thank you!
- Girl gives check to the boys for Always Keep Fighting and Team Levi. Jensen: We're not going to say no to money. This is mine lol. Also gave them the AKF bracelets that were being handed out.
- Both boys are really proud :)
- Jensen says he is going as Jared Padalecki for Halloween. Jared says he needs better hair lol.
- They talk about seeing the Foo Fighters at ACL.
- Seven years ago today is the day that Jared took Gen on their first date!
- Jared: There's nowhere I'd rather be than here.
- Fan: Jared, you're my rock and my heart. Jensen: Does that make me your wings and spirit? Fan: Honey, you can be anything you want.
- A fan brings up the cock sock Jared had to wear in House of Wax in reference to worst costume he's had to wear. Jared: When men have to do nude scenes, they call it a mmmph sock. Jensen: It rhymes with sock. Jared: Or wenus!!
- The fan who asked the question confessed she was trying to embarrass Jensen. Jensen: Not embarrassed.
- First thought they think fans have when they meet them? Jensen: God, you're tall!
- What is your favorite part of filming season 11? They talk about the Baby ep, and Jared says that he thinks ep 9 and 10 are gonna be awesome.
- Much of filming ep 4 was J2 alone in the car with cameras on them and the crew down the road.
- Jensen: The car goes very fast if I want it to.
- Emotional fan: You've changed my life so much. Jensen: You've changed our lives, too.
- Jared: You can be surrounded by a million people and still feel alone. Since the first Chicon I don't feel alone anymore. I hope none of you feel alone. We're here.
- Jared: I've gotten to know so many human beings, old and young, short and short... ;)
- Jensen gave Jared a reassuring pat after a fan's emotional question.
- Jensen says convention ?'s are more personal now, but in the best way, because the show's more personal.
- Jensen starts singing Michael Buble out of nowhere.
- What's the strangest photo op you have ever done? Jared demonstrates by lifting his leg, grabbing his butt, and opening mouth in a wide grin.
- Jensen: Odd props, strange costumes, stand on your head, some we said yes and some we said no.
- Jared got up because he was laughing so hard and knocked over his chair in the process and now Jensen is laughing.
- Fan: You're not the Losechesters. Jensen to Jared: You hammered that home so well it got legs. Well done Padalecki.
- Jared wants to do Supernatural Jazzercise, thinks it would be funny to see Dean get really into it.
- Jensen: Richard's episode has some pretty funny moments in it. It felt like a sketch comedy at times.
- Richard kept calling them Sam and Dean for the entire shoot, so they just started calling him director.
- Bob Singer crashes their panel. Jensen says Bob's hair is silver because of wisdom.
- Jared: If you're happy the show is still going, thank Bob Singer. They say Singer chose not to retire because of what Supernatural has become.
- Jared: My brother-in-law sent me to the Jared Padalecki booty website.
- Jensen talks about how he made Jared change his voicemail during the gold panel. "It was a small victory for me."
- Jared tries to play his new voicemail, but didn't realize the mic had to be near the speaker. Jensen: Always keep fighting, bud.
- Fan to Jared: What's your number? Jensen: I'll tweet it.
- Fan and Jared complimenting each other. Jensen: It's a compliment sandwich, I'm stuck in the middle. Jared: You can be the mayonnaise.
- Fan asks if Jared thinks about cutting his hair? Crowd: NOOO!
- Fan: You guys are so hot! Jensen: Are you talking to the band? Fan: No!
- Will we ever learn Sam and Dean's middle name? Jared: I said my middle name. Crowd: Sam f**king Winchester. Jared: That's right.
- They come up with Sam I Am Winchester and Dean Cain Winchester.
- Jared talks about three ways to end the show: Like Butch Cassidy and Sundance, Impala driving down the road, or Sam and Dean on top of the Impala looking at the sky stargazing. Jensen says it could end with a case at a retirement home in s37 and they just end up staying there.
- In old man voices: Jensen: How is it, Sammy? Jared: I haven't crapped myself yet, Dean. Jensen: You will.
- Do fans want show to end? Jensen: You know there's one person in here like, "Yes, let it end. It's sucking the life out of me."
- Jared says hopefully we never have to find out how the show ends ;)
- How has atmosphere changed on set since s1? Jared says his prep hasn't changed since Gilmore Girls, talks about being the original Dean lol. Jensen: That's okay. Allison Sweeney was the original Sam.
- Jensen: We've experienced life on set as a family for a decade. They've experienced life, death, births, marriages, etc.
- Jensen: There's a shorthand that exists between Jared and I. We love what we do because we love the people we work with. This is lightning in a bottle. We've won the lottery.
- Days of Our Lives has asked Jensen to come back twice (while still being on SPN) over the years. Jensen said yes but they weren't able to work it out, the timing never worked.
- Fan: Gilmore Girls is back. Jensen pretending to freak out. I'm SO excited. Jared: Breathe Jensen.
- Jared says if he's able to work in being on Gilmore Girls he'll do it if he can. He says Supernatural is his family and he wouldn't leave the show to do it.
- Misha crashes the panel to defend himself when Jensen says he works less than them on the show.
- Misha: I get more done at 9am than you both do in a week. J2 say yeah, because you get all your work on the show done by 9am! lol
- J2 jabbing that Misha's always on vacation, share a high-five at some point. Misha: Well, it would help if I was actually in the show.
- Last question: Jensen on tambourine, Jared on cowbell!
- What was the last thing Jared "MacGyvered?" Jared: I break a lot of things so people are Macgyvering on my behalf.
- Jared: I haven't Macgyvered anything because I'm too busy taking care of Short Hair and Angel Wings.
- End of the panel: Jensen tells the fans what we mean to them, and Jared gives a heartfelt thank you to the fans, the family :)
