But let's face it, du--the cvs aren't responsible enough to show how something like this SHOULD be dealt with, and the mask had to come off, so rather than RagsMen doing kaand, better Suhani did it.
I think it's been the pattern that Suhani will tolerate a lot of shit thrown at her, but usually reacts on others' behalf. I'm not sure that is very right or healthy, because I don't know if it indicates a degree of strong self-confidence that can ignore put-downs, or a sense of martyrdom, as in Oh, I will bear this atyachaar and bring on claps from trp aunties.
I really don't see anything in Suhani (lookswise) that would invite taunts, but apparently she's been subject to them, so we'll take it as given. Again, the question arises--why hasn't she ever asked dadi to address HER by her name? That wouldn't be anything more than asking that someone stop demeaning you. It's just ignored by her, and everyone, like it's perfectly okay. If nothing else, she should simply not react/answer when she's de-personalized by being addressed as 'ladki''. What worries me is that things like this indicate the writers' total lack of awareness of what their writing indicates. They are just presented as facts, not as issues that should be addressed. So I very much doubt there will be any in-depth exploration of why Suhani is particularly protective of Gauri.
Oh, Yuvraj supported her? Good, I suppose. If only the better to piss off dadi. But why do I feel this kind of agreement from Yuvraj is a facile way of showing he's a bit different from how he used to be?

Yeah well Ani... obviously it's a shrink who should be seeing her and treating her not our darling samaj sevika... but the doctor was mentioned once in regards to probable medication ghapla and that was that... why a doctor, when sarva gun sampann suhani is there? 😊

I don't really know what the CVs want to portray about her... that she will take up arms against any injustice done to others but will keep quiet regarding her own self respect or wait for someone else to fight her battle ( Yuvraj toh Nahi karega... not consistently atleast)... WHY?? IS it because she's been derided for her looks or lack of beauty ( Mindboggling.. coz Suhani is genuinely beautiful... the SSEL universe is dumb and blind period ) so many times that it just slides over her leaving no impact whatsoever? Or is it because she also believes that she isn't physically attractive and has decided not to fight facts ( come to think of it no one except earlier Somu and Rohan have called her pretty ) If so then THAT IS JUST SAD!!!

And I'm absolutely with you... when will this Ae ladki shit stop... If Dadi has accepted Suhani so wholeheartedly, why doesn't Yuvraj make her call his wife by her name? How is Suhani tolerating this? I'm not even going to mention that selfish idiot bhavna... she's probably gonna start competing with Rags soon... to win darling dadis affections 😡 Suhani being called like that is demeaning and disrespectful... why don't the writers start with that rather than taking up issues like superstition, babas etc...

Yuvi se and my expectations are very very low Ani... that's why it was a pleasant surprise ki bande ke muh se 1 sahi shabd toh nikla, other than the usual Suhani shut up crap... So I will take that.. 😊

He struggled a bit (not because he still discriminates but because he is so used to being the meek mice in front of Dadi) but he did finally find a voice to say 'yes' to what Suhani was saying. But that's that,it ends there, nothing more. That was a very bad piece of writing and direction. Again a complex situation addressed in an offhand manner.

@Archie: Chinks in armour should remain chinks. Let them cover it up with proper means. I fear they'd turn it around to something 'mahaan' instead of treating it as a flaw. I don't want Su become anymore the goodie two-shoes annoying sacrificial lamb than she already is. And saint Yuvraj needs a bit of Satan possession from time to time... gotta agree with Ani, he is becoming boring... he should raise voice where he has to.. supportive husband, great... but please, wear the pants when necessary... all he says is ,"when do you ever listen to me?'. Bas, baat khatam... some silly anger n nok-jhok n in the end things go Su's way. Break the cycle already.

@Both: It was probably the reason I did not find her convincing. She lets everything happen to herself but becomes overly stubborn about others. Warped. Worse, she feels good about it. Get rid of this annoying quality soon, Su. Please.

Like you had said DU... instead of that follow up childish planraj scene... they could have actually set up a heart to heart between Yuvraj and Suhani... Where she could have discussed and explained her fears, insecurities, hurt, the reason for this single minded obsession with Gauri... and he could have actually listened, understood and maybe stood up for her in a more meaningful way... He could have shown her the error of her emotional ways and made her understand that it's for her own good... a real conversation, not exasperated statements, nok jhoks ... a real conversation. With SaRaj, is that really such a difficult scene to set up? I feel the CVs just don't understand the complexities of relationships.. important stuff is touched upon so facetiously..

Both of them are flawed characters... who can help each other become more well adjusted people... that's the change required for another... not just eating with your hand to please your partner or cleaning up the room 10 times a day to make him happy..

archie dis type of scene i actually expected d night dey reached suhagi or at least d night when he saved suhani from baba and they were back to BH again..these two r pre matured babies till now in there relationship..yuvraj ocassionally give voice for suhani but only he has single liner or a mere word nothing more..hea it may have been shown that suhani expressing her fears and insecurities about the girl and how she gets humiliated and insulted each time coz of her complexion to yuvraj and he consoling her giving a stand for her instead of dadi drama..

actually i also deny that yuvraj and suhani blindly believing that dadi has accepted her..If she has really accepted her she will call suhani by her name and not AE LADKI..When suhani named the masked girl and said every person will call her by d name and not ae ladki i thought y she s not confronting dadi to call her by her name..her hubby wont certainly do d task ..its she who has to stand for her self respect..but d suhani im seeing now has lost self respect and self confidence and accepted that she is not physically attractive coz of her complexion and convinced her..lets leave it yuvraj said you r d beautiful girl to me at this minute while he confessed her and now when she yet again talks about complexion and beauty related issues he is expected to give a stand to her not as audience but as active participant and prove dadi that he really means it and loves suhani..And suhani why s she deriving her own concepts and inferences cant she really wait for a perfect time..I accept that time never comes its we who have to create time..But if d same issue is with her she accepts it and goes through every shit with her heads down and is reduced to tears..Im missing my old suhani who stands for herself..I now feel that let CVs kill her..Then at least we couuld get to watch what actually yuvraj feels foe his wife

This is a really good discussion about SSEL and its writers...alot of time when we moan about the series you could say they can not please everyone but the fact remains that they refuse to give these characters much needed depth...its like they are only focused on episode by episode but not the bigger picture...they already have the viewers who have stuck with the through illogical stories so why do they not want to expand on this...
The characters need depth and they need to add just a little bit of logic...i mean I watch YHM and at the moment they are doing some bhoot possesion story...rediculous to me because I do not believe in that stuff and I thought it would just be nonsense but the way it is being approached is actually quite good, you might not buy it...it might not be perfect but it is well executed and has some legs to stand on...how can they convincingly do a possesion story yet SSEL can not convincingly potray this one relationship between a husband and wife who have against all odd fallen in love and are supposed to be happily moving forward with their marriage...dont get me started on all the other see through characters

Rant over back to work

@Bold: Have even lost the count of how many times I banged head on this point.

@YHM: They seem to handle every relationship/person with proper time, effort and give each character some personality and direction. Here, even our male lead is a poorly etched out character. He lacks a strong personality. This is what happens when you want to please everyone...from trp audience to young audience...you end up being neither here nor there. Decide, if you want it to be a love story or dadi-dominated matriarchal saas-bahu drama. Stick to the main theme and incorporate other elements deftly... yahan toh they are eternally confused about what exactly they want to show.

They need to create moments that stay with viewers... need not necessarily be between the couple always...but rest of the household too. But all we get is half-baked situations with no build-up that pass on even before you warm up to them and then disappear without a trace forever.
