Kishorelal's words to Narayan Baba hold true for Sunder as well

Oh how quickly both believed the worst of their friends in their time of extreme emotions. Only difference here is that Narayan Baba and Kishorelal were probably more akin to Sunder and Lal Chand more than Sunder and Sarfaroz aside from the communal divide.
Hell perhaps Kishorelal's words apply to himself as well. Because he may have been willing to believe worst of Sarfaroz as well, though it's not quite clear. Maybe he refrained and stayed away from the conflict for other reasons as implied.

Yes. But even after the truth is cleared,I hope Sarfaraz's Ammi doesn't let Sunder forget this. Sunder himself won't forget and will feel horrible I know. And Sarfaraz will forgive and let it slide. But it hope Sunder is always reminded of this through an underlying feeling in Sarfaraz's Ammi's interactions with him.

That line she said back when Sarafaraz's.hand was burnt, about knowing their place in Koshorelal's shop now. Similar feeling I hope she keeps with Sunder.

Such is human nature. He was so quick to believe worst of his friend, same way the other side will not forget how quickly and how easily he believed the worst. To be honest, he deserves it too.

Yeah. But when he's there asking about her. When he and his mother are telling you he did no such thing, maybe wonder why he would still be there and also hurt. Maybe realize that Lajjo is weak and falling unconscious and what she is saying in her weak breath may not be how you interpreted it. This is not a stranger. This is a guy he calls his friend. A guy whose personality and behavior he knows or knew.

Anyway all it does to show is how little trust and faith people have in each other and how quickly they believe others will quickly turn on them. It's not exactly unwarranted as on the other hand the opposite has also happened: ones they thought would not turn on them have indeed resorted to violence.

But it still doesn't take away from the heart of the matter, which is that the whole environment is such that trust and faith amongst friends themselves are so weak and fragile.

What about Kishorelal. What would he have done if Lajjo hadn't come to and murmured at that moment? Would he have let Sunder give one blow? Two blows? Three blows? Would anyone have stopped Sunder?

And Sunder. Would he have stopped? He's not much better than everyone else who are going around setting fire and holding knives to people's throats for justice for Sarfaraz's hand.

Was he rally gonna kill him? Beat him to a pulp? Beat him a few times? Would people have just watched or stopped him after a point? Probably would have stopped him only due to not wanting Sunder to be arrested.

Sarfaraz's Ammi would and should never forget this. What if Lajjo hadn't come to at that moment? What would have happened to her son as she is right there watching? By those who claim to know and care for him.

fully agree with u
i felt so bad for sarfaraz
he helped lajo with his injured hand
still sundar did not trust him
he could not give him a benefit of doubt
i guess it was troubled times effect
most of them were on a killing spree
