Sanjay Gupta's Jazbaa which has released recently is making decent business at the box office. The film was awaited by masses, and naturally so, because it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's massive comeback vehicle post motherhood. Looking at the box office figures, we can safely say that audience is not disappointed with Aishwarya's steel woman act.
Aishwarya, instead of taking home a fixed salary, struck a profit sharing deal with the producers. This is primarily a prerogative to male stars but it is heartening to see even actresses choosing the same model for remuneration. After Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya too followed this method with Jazbaa and trade experts insist that it was a wise decision to make. it's just been a few days since Jazbaa released and Aishwarya has already earned Rs 3 crore taking India and overseas collections, plus satellite and music rights into account.
was a wise decision (to opt for a profit-sharing model) on Aishwarya's part, since the film has become a hit. And as the movie continues to do well " especially with no major competition in sight, she stands to earn even more," says a trade insider to a leading daily. Aishwarya incidentally made her debut as a co-producer with this film.
Aishwarya was paid a nominal fee as signing amount before the project started. Director Sanjay Gupta confirmed this and told to a daily, "None of us charged our usual market fee. If we had gone for our usual pay cheques, it couldn't have been possible to make it on such a shoe-string budget. But now, all of us are happy, since we are all partners " creatively as well as financially.
