awesome update!
i read the in one go!

After a few moments of silence, Arnav murmured, "Mujhe bhoog lagrahi hai Khushi. Khaana milega? (I'm hungry Khushi. Can I get some food?)"
Khushi pulled away immediately with a big smile on her face and said, "Abhi banaathi hoon (I'll go make it now)"
Khushi was so happy - for the first time, Arnav asked her to make him food, using his rights on her. Before, it was always an unsaid thing between them that she makes the food, and it was just done as a routine. But for the first time ever Arnav actually asked her with rights. It just felt so intimate - it made her feel good, and she wanted to make the best food for him today.
She went to the kitchen with an extra skip in her step.
Arnav on the other hand was going to take that time to read the file.
And this is where the real mission begins...
*********************************************************
Arnav was carefully going through the file, making sure to read each and every line with full concentration, not missing a single detail.
As he read the file, he found out several things about Shashi as well as Khushi that he didn't know before.
Shashi was a businessman who was married to Garima, his childhood friend. When they grew up they eventually fell in love and got married. But unfortunately they weren't blessed with a child for almost 7 years of their married life. So eventually they decided to adopt a new born, and they named the baby girl Payal.'
Two years later however, Garima became pregnant, shocking everyone... And that's when Khushi was born.
The entry of both girls in their lives turned out extremely lucky for the couple. Shashi's business grew so much more, and their family became a lot more stable, money-wise and happiness-wise.
But unfortunately the growth of Shashi's business also meant that he had more business rivals...
On a personal level however, he didn't seem to have many (or any) rivals. Shashi was a very kind man, so he didn't really seem to have any enmity with anyone.
Once Arnav had gone through Shashi's check, he had made a list of 11 people who could be his possible enemies. And out of the 11, 6 had already passed away some way or another, which meant that there were only 5 possibilities:
Raj Singh
Vishal Arora
Anil Malhotra
Sushanth Kapoor
Karan Bhatia
Just as he'd made the list, Khushi entered telling him that lunch was ready.
Smiling, Arnav put his work aside and followed Khushi to the dining table.
Khushi had made lunch keeping in mind Arnav's favourites, and she'd made sugar-free kheer for him too as she knew that he loved her kheer.
As they both started eating, Khushi was silently waiting for Arnav to tell her how the food was, especially since she'd put in extra effort to make the food today.
Arnav who was oblivious to her expectations was just eating his dinner silently, showing no expressions whatsoever, to Khushi's utter disappointment.
After waiting for a few minutes, Khushi's patience ran out, so she herself asked, "Kesa hai? (How is it?)"
"What?" Arnav asked, confused.
"The food," she replied, desperately waiting for his answer.
"Achi hai, (It's nice)" he said simply before going back to relishing his food silently, not noticing the look of disappointment on Khushi's face.
It was only when they were clearing up that Arnav realised that Khushi was quieter than usual. He'd completely missed this fact while eating as he'd been busy thinking about the file and determining his next steps.
But now he noticed that she was looking sad - or disappointed even, although she was trying her best to act normal.
"Khushi? What's wrong?" he asked, coming straight to the point.
Khushi replied too quickly, "Nothing!" putting on a huge smile. "What could be wrong with me?" she said, trying hard to act normal as made an attempt to walk past Arnav.
Arnav caught hold of her arm as didn't believe a word of what she'd said. "Khushi," he said again in that you better tell me what's wrong' tone.
"Arnavji seriously, there's nothing wrong with me! You tell me, how can anything go wrong between the time I went to cook and the time we had lunch?"
"It can when the girl in question is crazy Khushi Kumari Gupta," he replied.
"Hawww" Khushi gaped in disbelief before she huffed and puffed in anger. She pushed Arnav's arm away, glaring at him as she walked away to the kitchen again.
When she believed she was alone in the kitchen, she started muttering, "I'M crazy??? How dare that laad governor call me crazy? I'm not gonna leave this guy for sure! Hmmph."
"But then Khushi - isn't he kind of right?" she asked herself. "Who gets upset just because someone didn't praise their food? Khushi, Arnavji always has his lunch silently and you know that. You're the one who always does the talking. So how can you expect him to say something today? Ok fine, you expected a reply, but getting so upset over it? That's just crazy Khushi, you need to stop. It's ok, no need to fret over nothing."
"Hmm, but then I put in so much effort today for making his favourite food! I made the food with so much love and all he said was achi hai'," she imitated. "Seriously that's all he had to say?! Hmmph. Laad governor."
Unknown to her Arnav had followed her silently and had heard her complaint - every last word of it.
"So this is the problem," Arnav murmured to himself, feeling a bit guilty for making Khushi feel bad. Of course he had found her food delicious - there was no question about that. The food was out of the world in fact. But he had been so lost thinking about the case that it didn't really occur to him that Khushi might expect a few words from him about the food, especially after everything that had happened between them...
"Damn it!" he cursed. This is completely his fault, for not giving Khushi the attention she deserved.
Arnav took another peek at Khushi's upset face and decided that he had to do something to make her feel better.
He walked back to the bed and sat on it, thinking about what he could do to lighten Khushi's mood.
After some thought, he quickly got changed and walked out to the lounge, where Khushi was now sitting down watching TV.
"Khushi I have some urgent work so I need to go out. I will back in a few hours," he said before walking up to the elevator.
Khushi couldn't be more annoyed.
First he doesn't say much about the food and now he was going out all of a sudden, leaving her all alone.
She knew that his work was important too, but a small part of her wished that he could be with her always...
Arnav was walking towards the elevator when he stopped abruptly, almost as if he heard her wish.
He turned around and strode to where Khushi was sitting. He bent down to cup her neck and placed a kiss on her forehead, catching her off guard.
Then he placed kisses on both her cheeks, making her clutch his collar as she scrunched her eyes shut, unable to keep up with the sensations she felt.
Arnav couldn't help but feel pride when he saw her reaction to his touch. The way her eyes shut in shyness, the way the blush spread over her cheeks, the way her chest heaved up and down with lack of breath... All for him. Just for him.
Unable to resist, Arnav gently placed his lips on hers, giving her small peck, followed by many more. Khushi was pulling him closer and closer - partly because she couldn't take the sensations and partly because she didn't want him to stop.
And Arnav was no different. He too was lost in the moment, and couldn't help but pull Khushi closer and closer.
After a while Arnav pulled back very slightly, his breath still mingling with Khushi's. He placed a hand over hers which were gripping his collar, "Khushi open your eyes."
Khushi slowly opened her eyes to look into his own eyes which were still darkened with desire.
He looked intently into her orbs as he said, "I'll be back before you know it."
Khushi was in a daze and all she could do was nod.
Arnav gently pulled her hands away from his collar and placed one final peck on her temple before striding away to the elevator, not looking back even once - because he knew that if he gave in to one more look at her, he would not be able to get himself to leave.
And Khushi just sat on the sofa, with the TV playing but her mind still replaying her moments with Arnav today.
The blush that had been there on her face when Arnav had bid bye to Khushi, was still there when he returned two hours later.
When Khushi heard the elevator door open, she ran up to Arnav and took him into a warm hug.
"I missed you," she said as she laid her head on his chest.
Arnav was taken aback by sudden show of affection, the moment he stepped into the penthouse. But it felt good. Amazing in fact. He actually had someone who missed him when he left the house now. He had someone to welcome him back with warmth.
Arnav wrapped his arms around Khushi's torso and replied, "I missed you too..."
And as he said those words, he realised how true they were. He did miss her - a lot in fact. Every minute he was away from her, he had wished that she could be beside him with her usually chattering. He had missed her scent. He had missed her warmth. He had missed her care. He had just missed her as a whole.
"How did your work go?" Khushi asked after a while, looking up to him with her arms still around him.
"I don't know," he answered.
"Huh? What kind of reply is that," Khushi said, frowning. "How can you not know?"
"Ummm... Actually, I'm still waiting for the result."
"Result? You're talking as if you just went to write an exam," she laughed. "So when will you get the result then?"
"Now," he replied.
"Huh?" Khushi was confused.
Arnav nodded before he unwrapped an arm around Khushi, and showed her a gift-wrapped box that he had been carrying.
Khushi looked at it with surprise, before looking at Arnav questioningly.
"It's for you," he said, answering her unvoiced question.
Khushi was pleasantly surprised, but at the same time she was apprehensive of what might be inside.
Arnav led her to the sofa and made her sit down while he sat down next to her. Though Arnav didn't show it on his face, he was waiting anxiously to see if she would like his gift.
Khushi unwrapped the gift to find that there were several gift wrapped boxes in the one that she had just opened.
She chose the box at the top and opened that first.
Inside the box was a beautiful set of pink bangles. They were just perfect in Khushi's eyes.
She caressed the bangles, admiring their beauty - after all they would always be special to her because it was the first gift' that Arnav had ever given her. Everything she was using right now was his, but still this is the first thing that he gave her as a gift.'
"Khushi?" he called, making her turn to look at him. "Today, the lunch you made was delicious. It reminded me of ma's food Khushi," he said softly.
"I'm sorry for not giving you the words you wanted to hear Khushi. But I... I'm not used to all this. I've never admired someone the way I do you Khushi. Your cooking, your care, your warmth, your beauty - everything about you is out of this world Khushi. I've never seen anyone like you."
Khushi was astonished by his words. They made her feel so complete. They made her feel special.
"This is all new to me Khushi. This feeling is new to me. I promise to always be with you Khushi, but it's not going to be a bed of roses. I'm going to make mistakes. I don't know how to give you the attention you deserve, but I'm trying. And I want you to help me try."
Khushi could only nod in return - she was so touched by his words that she was absolutely speechless.
"Khushi for years I was living like a machine. I was living with no feelings. Work was the only thing on my mind. Everything else was like a chore - even eating. But the day you came into my life, everything started to slowly gain colour in my life."
Arnav gently took Khushi's hands into his own and placed a soft kiss on each of her palms before saying, "Khushi from the day you started cooking for me, I started to actually TASTE my food. And then I started to ENJOY my food. And now I LOOK FORWARD to having your hand-made food every day. And you know why that is?"
Khushi just looked on, waiting to hear what he had to say.
"It's because you put in your love and care for me into the food that you make, just like maa did when she was alive."
Khushi felt tears sting her eyes as her lips curved up into a smile.
"Khushi whether I say anything or not, just know that I always love your food. Even if you give me just plain bread and jam made with your hands, it will taste good for me. Because it's made by YOU. Because YOU are special."
"And today, I wanted to gift something to these beautiful hands that make the world's tastiest food."
He then took a set of bangles from their box and looked up at Khushi, "May I?"
Khushi nodded, urging him to put the bangles on for her.
And so he did, taking care not to hurt her.
When he'd put on both sets of bangles, and both her arms were adorned with bangles, he placed another kiss on each of her palms.
Khushi couldn't control her happiness and she threw herself into his arms, tears of joy rolling down her cheeks. How had she gotten so lucky? She couldn't believe that this man was HERS!
And that thought reminded her of her wish to go to the mandir.
Arnav on the other hand pulled her closer, content that he'd succeeded in making her happy. He could never see her upset - it hurt him to see her hurt, and when she was happy, he was happy too.
Khushi was going to ask Arnav if he would take her to the temple, when he said, "Won't you open the rest of your gifts?"
"Oh yh! I forgot in the excitement of getting my new bangles," she said, proudly admiring her arms adorned with bangles.
When she opened the next box, there was a simple but beautiful magenta saree inside. She couldn't help but admire it.
And alongside it, there were a pair of matching earrings.
And then she went to open the last box - and there inside were jalebis!!!
Khushi's happiness had no bounds! She got so many gifts from Arnav and they were all just perfect!
What made her happy, was not the gifts themselves, but the amount of thought she knew Arnav would have put in to buy them for her.
One look at the smile that lit up Khushi's face told Arnav that his idea was a hit. Seeing her happy, Arnav too was really happy.
"Ok, so the princess is now happy I see. So can I now get my forgiveness for making you upset this afternoon?" he asked.
Khushi pretended to think for a minute before saying, "Ok forgiveness granted - but only on one condition."
