RES

EDITED
-----------

Couldn't update earlier in the day. But I'm loving everyone's opinions here. It feels like we're all hit by a calamity together, the ones who had left, the ones who are in the process of leaving, and the ones who are still confused.

Krishy, thank you for this wonderful post 👏 👏

IshRa's journey, or rather Ishita & Raman's journey, never began with love. It started with hate and anger, proceeded to indifference and trust, and then love came in the picture. They fell into a relationship out of commitment for their daughter and their families, and then fell into love.

I hate to say that it is going towards where it was, following the same path, albeit the opposite way. The only difference being the love remains, and painfully so, but everything else, all the other building blocks that make (or made) IshRa who they are, are crumbling away, and it is becoming more and more difficult to view them as a single entity.

True, their relationship, the emotional bonding, had been on a downward slope since January, but there were some hints, some glimpses of the Ishita & Raman & Ruhi, the IshRaRu if I may, that we fell in love with.

But what these relationships have now come down to, is outright appalling. With Ruhi's annoying interference in baby talk to Ishita's miracle pregnancy to Raman's consent for Shagun's surrogacy. I simply cannot look at them the same way I used to.

I have watched all crappy episodes and tracks until now, including the infamous night during Mani night, the dafa ho jao, the recent cold storage incident, and the most recent - Raman's consent to Shagun for being his & Ishita's baby's surrogate. And I have now reached a breaking point. Yesterday was the first episode that I skipped, the beginning of many more to come. And I believe this is just a trailer to what is going to come next.

Somewhere deep down, I always knew this would turn into a regular BT daily, knowing well how things work in telly land, but I wasn't ready for it to succumb completely and as unabashedly as it did. For the love of the mature story that it once was, for the IshRa that once were, I might not cut the cord immediately, but it is only a matter of few days.

The primary reason I, or you, or all of us, connected with this show is because of the nuanced writing and matured handling of tabooed issues. I was never a KP / DT fan to begin with. I loved them as IshRa first, and its now their acting prowess that I hate to leave, but no matter how brilliant they are, this move on the CVs part has had me vomiting bile.

I don't care if Shagun gets pregnant or not, I don't care if the embryo gets implanted or not, my final nail in the coffin was the moment when Raman consented. Everything after that, is just a follow-on process. YHM is a habit, so it will take a while to come out of it, but the process has begun.

I cannot look at Raman the same way, no matter how hard I try. I want him to suffer badly, but I know I'll feel sad when he does. Its too complicated to put in words.

I had stopped watching television long ago for similar reasons, and I hate that YHM is making me go back to my previous conclusion again. I wish I never got attached to this stupid TV show.

P.S. This post of yours is like catharsis 😃

I wonder if the PH themselves realize that they have ruined Ishra. Did they really expect that this twist would go down well?

As a viewer who really enjoyed watching YHM and Ishra I can honestly say that I am no longer interested in this couple. When we look at the beauty and small subtleties in the earlier scenes it is hard to believe it is the same show. Unfortunately, not even Divan can rescue Ishra.

Will you term me a feminist if I say my heart bleeds for Ishita? I have always defended both Whether it be Raman or Ishita through all the stupidity that has been thrown our way.
But just now, I don't have it in me to defend Raman. May be after sometime and when I retrospect, I will have some defense for him.
I will not whine that writers have ruined just Raman. ishita was ruined way before Raman.
For me I GENUINELY loved both Ishita and Raman and no, I did not have a favourite nor got attached to only one. I LOVED BOTH and today, I can't stand the thought of IshRa together.
I want Ishita to be bumped off. Instead of Rinki, it should have been Ishita.
PS: This is the rambling of a demented former viewer.

Not at all - because it's not even feminism to feel for Ishita right now. It's being a human. No person deserves to be undermined by someone who claims to love them. No woman deserves to be defined by her reproductive abilities. For my bias against Indian portrayals of FLs, I can't disregard Ishita's suffering in this track because no one asks for it and the infertility aspect makes it even more painful for me.

I don't think even I can defend Raman...even in retrospect. I feel for him and the suffering that will come, but what he is doing is indefensible. He is paternalistic to the core right now before they touched a little of this paternalism in the name of love, but now it's this highly contrived extreme.

Unfortunately both leads have been ruined. Ishita before 7:30 was real because she made mistakes, she felt emotions, and wasn't self-sacrificing or compromising her self-respect in the name of love. Similarly Raman before 7:30 made many mistakes, fell into guilt, but he found his way out and tried to see forgiveness.

It's so hard to separate season 1 leads from season 2 leads. And now with season 3, I don't know what's the same.

In all reality - I want this show to be bumped off & while it won't happen on the channel - maybe I can get to the point where it's out of sight & mind!

Hope you are doing well! 😳

I was feeling almost guilty for failing to feel the spark with IshRa over the past few days, like I used to (ridiculous, I know)... Glad I'm not the only one in this godforsaken, sinking ship.

"Ishita moving forward in life after another soul-piercing betrayal seems to be the next phase of YHM [...]They may not show Ishita fully accepting another man (desi TV standards), but logically if she finds a friendly hand, things will grow."

IF ONLY...!!! My heart kinda hurts to know that they probably will never let Ishita move on, even though she completely deserves to... because as you said, "desi tv standards" and aadarsh bahu criteria and all.
Great post... I read most of it! (it kinda hurt to read some parts)

That's what is mind boggling. I would love to see TRP studies of all previous shows based off tracks. Is there quantifiable proof that this type of separation & leap raises viewing numbers?

I realize that they don't have a sense of social responsibility despite SP promoting "Nayi Soch." In fact I'm happy Colors is beating them b/c even though these shows aren't bringing in the big TRPs...the shows that commit to addressing a social cause (ie BV, Chakor, IKRS) seem to stick with that mission. Unlike YHM which was marketed as mature & strayed, despite the fact the channel is promoting hope right now.

It truly is a confusing scenario being played out right now!

I do agree that after destroying infertility mercilessly, they could give Ishita an ounce of self respect as a female. While I don't know how strong of a stand will happen, I do see some scope for this with an upcoming leap.

Unfortunately, with just one of the lead characters' butchered - the prospect of reunion seems disheartening, no? And unfortunately it's still a hard fact to Ishita-Raman lovers of this show, despite the fact everyone knows what's right.

I truly wonder if the CVs realize the magnitude of the damage they have done? But it probably doesn't matter because separation and later reunion will be watched & passively accepted by the general viewers regardless of what's happening now.

It sure is yaar. And I have this sick feeling that maybe just maybe they will butcher Ishita too. Because snow white needs to shine and stand out na.
I don't if she will take a stand considering the history. They always end up with comedy or lollipop romance. They have never had a meaningful conversation. Almost never. Serious communication problems as you already know. They will bicker away but rarely address the elephant in the room. It took me very long to forget the incident after the fire. What he was about to do we all know. And its better i dont say anything about how it ended. More than Raman I was angry at Ishita for just letting it go. This time it's so needed. There has to be anger and hurt waiting to spill over. All the baggage I mean. I fail to understand how they can show a woman just getting over it. She needs to lash out for the viewer's sanity atleast. Lol
They have always made Raman commit bigger and graver kaands than Ishita. Why oh why?

I have loved these 2 hopelessly Krishy. At this point I don't know if I want them to get back together later cz they gave butchered their love. I think about it and all I wanna do is punch someone.

I guess that is part of what is so disturbing about all this. It is being marketed as nayi soch. So to the uneducated masses who believe what they see on TV, this is how things are done. This is acceptable behaviour for a husband, an ex wife, a doctor. All under the guise of Nayi soch. I would think that rather then coming with the banner of progressive thinking this show should come with a disclaimer, saying that the actions portrayed in this show are all smut for the sake of TRP's and in no way reflect any decency in behaviour and should not be taken to reflect reality or as an example of modern thought.

Also I don't think they have yet realized the damage they have done. Once they do which I hope is very soon, it will hit them hard and I wish it hits so so bad that they can never recover from it. Serves them right.
I think they mixed it up It was supposed to be Rishta naya soch wahi not the other way round. The mentally sick people.

There has been no spark this week. Even from the LU, I can't feel it...before even a line of Ishita & Raman's love for each other brought a smile to my face. But now...idk.

It does - desi TV standards are actually horrible for both the FLs & MLs.

FL: she's aadarsh, self-sacrificing, loyal to their main love, often compromise their self-respect, but they are always right in their actions...rare mistakes will happen but they will be justified by the reasoning for the error.

ML: he's a lost soul who comes to rely on his spouse. either he makes mistakes or small slip ups (in non-YHM shows) but the mess will be cleaned up usually by the spouse or they become wallflowers. rarely do they experience a gamut of emotions on screen (baring YHM where the ML cries more than the FL 😆).

I'm missing stuff on this analysis of leads in Indian shows, but as a whole many shows some how adopts this weirdly contrived societal view of gender expectations.
--
Logically and to be truly fair, this show needs to move from the journey of a two individuals coming together to the journey of their lives separately. But what sucks is - what about the kids? Why do they have to suffer again too?
--
Trust me - reading things on the forum this week and writing this were hard...I feel like a fool for still caring even though I knew in January that this wasn't my YHM...hope is hard to kill & ironically while SP is promoting "Hope Never Dies"...my hope for this show has been killed

Mourning the loss of this once lovely fictional couple. I don't feel like seeing them together on the screen anymore. The magic is truly dead for me. Maybe this is what the makers wanted to achieve so that they can slowly kindle the other non existent spark. Fell in love with both these characters
But now even actors acting prowess will not be enough. Not sure if I will ever be able to empathize with him anymore. What a debacle. No words can even do justice to this crap. Hope ishita takes a strong stand..
