Chapter 3 : It's Complicated

So I realized after I wrote the precap that it made absolutely no medical sense haha..
I guess I'm going to ignore all my biology lessons in order to make this story work
So bear with me, because yes I know that him giving blood makes no sense in this scenario...

CHAPTER 3:

Viplav didn't hesitate before volunteering . He didn't think twice about it.
It was only after the procedure had been done that he realized how odd it was that he had given blood for Dhaani.
He was scared of needles, but he hadn't felt the least bit of fear when the cold metal pierced his skin.. in fact he hadn't even felt any pain.
Viplav sat, huddled in a arm chair for hours , watching nurses walk in and out of the room where she laid on a bed, unconscious.
"Here I am, all worried for her, and she's resting comfortably having nice dreams. Just wait until you wake up Dhaani" he uttered in annoyance.
But his annoyance faded quickly back into the restlessness and the apprehension he was feeling.
He didn't even know how long he had been waiting there, until a hand rested gently on his shoulder.
" Viplv beta, why don't you go home. It's late, and we are all here, to take care of Dhaani" Viplav looked up to see badi amma's looking at him with a kind expression on her face.
Startled, Viplav felt in his pocket for his phone, and realized it was ten thirty at night. Where had all those hours gone?
Regaining awareness of his surroundings, he stood up and firmly placed a hand on the old woman's shoulder
" No.. You and the rest of the widows should return to the ashram, you all must be tired. I will wait here with Dhaani, and bring her back tomorrow when she is feeling better. Ok?"
Badi Amma looked at him for a moment, then nodded her head in agreement as she led Dulaari, Suwarna, and the rest of the women out of the hospital.
Viplav stood, suddenly feeling dizzy. In all of his worry, he had forgotten to eat. He was about to go to the canteen to get some food, when the doctor came out of the
room. " Doctor? Is she ok.. is her fever down?" Viplav questioned, forgetting all of his hunger in a moment. The doctor smiled curiously at Viplav, making him feel a rush of heat flood to his face.
" She's much better. She's regained consciousness, and her fever is down and her blood pressure is normal again. We are going to monitor her for the night and if she is steady by tomorrow, you can take her home then."
"If you want to meet her, you can" the doctor added, before leaving to get the paperwork.
Viplav felt a rush of relief sweep through him, before he entered the room. Dhaani was lying in a semi upright position, tucked into the bed.
He stopped in front of the door, looking at her in awe. It was the first time he's seen her without a white sari on. Now, in a hospital gown, she looked so different.
For the first time, her head was uncovered. " She looked so young" Viplav thought, until he remembered that Dhaani was only twenty to begin with. It's just that she never looked her age in that white sari she always wore.
Now, sitting alone in the hospital bed, she for the first time looked like the young girl that she was. Freed of all her dress codes, Viplav could begin to see just a hint of the girl in Dhaani, and not just the widow she had become.
"Shikayat ke poodiyan ... acttually looks really pretty" he admitted to himself. " why do I wish that she could look like this all the time."
Just then, Dhaani turned to look at him, and he felt his gaze drop to the floor, to avoid being caught looking at her.
Instead, he looked up again with a cool arrogant smile on his face, and walked towards her. Her eyes betrayed her irritation.
" Why are you here?" she asked him, sending him into a flashback. How he had driven after the ambulance, followed her into the room, comforted Dulaari for hours, and paced the halls of the hospital unendingly until he had curled himself up into an armchair to fall asleep. How he had shut his phone off to void recieving phone calls from anyone, and how he had without thinking accepted the request to donate blood to her.
"I'm talking to you!" Dhaani said, shaking him from his train of thought.
" I was just passing by" he said, as nonchalantly as possible. " I had to get something for my grandmother. "
" Well then if you're done PASSING, I suggest you leave, so that I can have some peace"
" Would it hurt you to speak nicely to me for once?" Viplav noted, with a twinge of annoyance. I mean sure, she had no way of knowing that he had spent the whole day in the hospital for her, but really would it hurt for her to guess what he had been through. And anyway, what had he done that made her so upset.
" Hello Madam.I don't know if you remember- I mean who knows maybe your brain has short circuited or something. But I saved YOUR life last night ok. So chill".
" This whole thing has all happened because of you!" Dhaani yelled at him, her facing twisting in anger.
"Me!!!! What in the world did I do!!!" Viplav protested.
" At least I'm in the hospital right now. I'm scared to think of what's going to happen tomorrow. What if someone finds out about you and me at the temple last night? I won't have any respect left to hol dmy head up in this town"
" Why are you so worried about these trivial things!" Viplav asked, dropping down into the chair next to her bed as his dizziness picked up again.
" You won't understand. I can't expect you to understand. But to me, my respect is one of the few things I have left" she told him.
" And of all things, how dare you put the color red on me again?" Dhaani continued, not bothering to lower her voice one bit.
Viplav grinned in spite of his best efforts. How would she react knowing that his red blood now ran in her veins?
" You're laughing. You find this funny!!!!" Dhaani yelled, her tone only making Viplav grin harder.
" You really shouldn't stress yourself so much Dhaani." he said as he rose up to leave, " Now, I'm going to go to sleep, and I'll come back tomorrow to pick you up and take you to the ashram ok?" Viplav leaned in close to her. He had meant it as a joke. He had wanted to just tease her a bit, entering that large parameter she had established for herself.
But all of a sudden, his heart began beating. Faster and faster till it felt like it would leap right out of his chest. He drew back abruptly, his smile gone from his face.
Dhaani was looking at him with a wierd expression. " You're seriously crazy" she said in a wary voice, before shaking her head and crossing her arms.
" Ri..ight" he said, his voice shaky as he stepped away slowly towards the door, tripping over his own feet more than once.
" Viplav what's happening to you" he thought to himself, shaking his head and fanning himself with his hand as he headed to the door.
" You just need to eat, that's all. Food is what you need."
He was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he didn't even notice when he ran into the doctor who had entered the room.
" Uhm sir.. before you go.." the doctor remarked, bringing Viplav back into his senses.
"Huh?" he said,disorientated.
" Well it's just that, these are some release forms which need to be signed and filled out by tomorrorow. Now, ma'am if you could please fill them out by tomorrow, that would be fine, but we also need a guardian to sign"
Motioning towards Viplav the doctor continued " Now if your husband could just sign on these documents before you leave and then bring them to the front desk..."
" He's not my husband!" Dhaani exclaimed loudly, before turning and glaring at Viplav.
" Huh... oh.. yeah I'm not her husband" Viplav clarified, though clearly not fast enough for Dhaani, who grew even angrier.
The doctor stood there, slightly confused before saying.
" Then who is he of yours?"

PRECAP :
Shaalu asks Dadi how someone knows when they are in love.
Dadi replies that your heart beats fast whenever you are near them, and you forget your own needs when you worry about them.
Viplav overhears the conversation, and starts thinking.
