Neither Katti Batti s romance nor the heartbreak could melt any hearts at the box office. It was touted as the next urban love legend but couldn't keep up with the buzz. The film has been performing abysmally at the box office. This cannot be good news for Kangana Ranaut who only a few months back delivered a mammoth hit like Tanu Weds Manu Returns . So will Katti Batti s poor show affect her career? Trade analyst Akshaye Rathi doesn't think so.
Speaking exclusively to Bollywoodlife, Akshaye said, "One failure doesn't hamper the market value of a genuine star. But the problem is media has been busy calling her Lady Salman Khan for her success. People don't get it that Salman Khan has delivered more than 20 hits in his career and then became this unflinching
superstar. Our lady only has few to her credit.
She will at least has to deliver more hits to get that kind of market standing. It's all a phenomenal PR job."
So can we safely assume that her rise won't be hampered? "We often forget that if there is a Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns to boast about, there is also Revolver Rani and I Love NY . So one film doesn't decide anything." But she disowned ILNY. "Yes and it was the most unethical thing to do. If you are a genuine superstar, you have a moral responsibility towards all your films. That seriously made me doubt her stardom. She went and filed a case against T- series. No genuine star will do that."
It is pretty clear that Katti Batti will not put any dent on her meteoric rise. So that means it is only fair for her to demand 11 crore as remuneration? "For her to demand 11 crore, the film will have to have a total budget of nearly 27 crore and that film will have to do a box office nett of 50 crore. Apart from Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which other Kangana Ranaut film managed such a number? I feel actresses like Deepika Padukone , Katrina Kaif and Priyanka
Chopra should get that kind of a remuneration because the amount of hits that the have delivered far exceeds Kangana's. Like Salman Khan said in an interview, you have to command it and not demand it."
Well, that's about it! Some reality checks are necessary it seems in the present situation.
