Critically acclaimed performances you didnt like

There are always some performances every year which are widely acclaimed by critics, and they usually go on to win some kind of award.

But have you ever failed to agree with critics on a certain performance?

For example, I thought Alia was outright horrible in Highway, and no matter how many reviews are thrown in my face it wont change my opinion.

Similarly, I have seen many people in the forum who dont like Deepika's highly praised performance in Chennai Express.

The most recent on I can think of is Varun in Badlapur. Another acclaimed performance which I thought wasnt all that impressive.

Great topic. I have to think of more but the one I always never understood the hype in terms of performance was Vidya in Kahaani. She was good but nothing great as it made out to be.

Ditto. Alia was a lot better in 2 States than Highway and I thought Varun was pretty average in Badlapur. On the contrary, I really liked him in ABCD2 😆 Anyways the other critically acclaimed performances I din like were HR in KMG (I thought tht movie itself was pretty lame 😆), Ash in HDDCS (she looked stunning and danced like a dream but she hammed in quite a few scenes and I just don't get the big deal about her performance ) and Deepika in Cocktail( I thought she was better in KCK, Piku and even YJHD for that matter).

I don't think these below performances are horrible or something but I didn't think they were all that.

I think Vidya wasnt even remotely bad in Kahaani, she was infact very good. But the main reason people dont seem to like her performance is because that year all the awards were given to her over what people think were more deserving candidates.

I agree with you about Ash. I think in devdas she toned down a little in comparison to HDDCS, but was still quite hammy, and neither of these two performances is something which I would define as good acting tbh 😆

The whole KMG-phase was just plain silly, but somehow I have come to love the film (and HR's performance) for what it is 😆

You didnt like Dipu in Cocktail??😲 I thought it was her best performance according to you😆 And you have seen piku?😉 What did you think of the film itself? I really liked it.😆

Omg yes! Alia in Highway! Like was I the only one who still thought she sucked? Nothing about the role or acting made me go wow!

There is this scene towards the end of the movie where she is screaming at her childhood molester and I started laughing despite the seriousness of the situation onscreen 😆.. W*F was that even? I actually blame imtiaz for it, he didnt manage the scene well.
